Imperfectly Perfect
****Jennifer's Point of View****
It has been a month since the Hunger Games cast got together at my place. We've all stayed in touch and it feels better to talk with everyone again.
Liam and I have also been talking quite a bit.
Suddenly my phone makes a sound and the screen lights up. I go over to be greeted by a message from Liam!
Hey Jenn!
I was wondering if your not too busy this evening, maybe we could hang out or go somewhere before you leave?
My lips form a small smile, and my cheeks feel warm. He wants us to hang out. He wants us to hang out!
I only have a few spare days before I have to leave for the Passengers press tour. And of course I want to hang out with Liam! How do I reply without sounding too excited...
Jennifer: Sure! What do you have in mind?
Just a few moments after I click send, he replies.
Liam: I don't know, maybe we could go out to eat and then we'll see from there?
I read the text in an Australian accent, trying to mimic Liam.
Jennifer: You had me at eat. I'm up for anything!
Liam: Great! How does 'Il Pastaio' sound?
Jennifer: Mmmm Italian! Sounds delicious!
Liam: Perfect! Be ready at 7!
Jennifer: :)
I have an hour or so before Liam comes. Which means I should start getting ready.
I head up to my room, and start filing through my closet. What to wear...what to where. I bounce through the closet, looking for something...cute but casual.
It's not a date, and I know that. Liam is already with someone, and he did say that his relationship with Miley is going fine, so I better not come between them. And besides, we're just friends. Can't friends just go out together without it being romantic? Because that's exactly what tonight is about.
After a few long moments of staring into my closet and contemplating on what to wear, I finally decide on an outfit.
I slip into a dark, simple, knee length dress. It's a dark black colour, it's not tight, it's perfect. I stare at myself through the mirror and I decide to add on a brown belt to the blouse-like dress.
As I examine myself, I realize that I don't have my hair extensions in, which makes my hair a lot easier to manage. Checking the time, it's six forty-five.
I quickly freshen my makeup and go decide on what shoes to wear. I find a pair of black heeled ankle boots just as the doorbell rings.
My phone tells me it is 7pm. Just on time! Liam is always on time.
I giddily race down the stairs, carrying my shoes in one hand and my phone in the other. I drop my shoes to the ground to unlock the door.
**Liam's Point of View**
The door opens and I am greeted by Jennifer looking absolutely stunning.
"Hey," she says, smiling with her sparkling blue eyes looking directly at me.
"Hey," I say as my eyes travel over her body. "You look good. Ready to go?" I ask, trying not to get distracted. Her blond hair falls perfectly right above her shoulders and her rosy lips curl at the edges as she smiles.
"Yep, let me just get my shoes on." She says.
Soon, she follows me out the door and we reach the end of the driveway to my car. I open the door to the passengers seat, and for a second, Jenn looks up at me confusingly but then gets into the car.
"Thanks," she says.
I turn on the car drive down the road. It's only a few seconds until Jenn starts talking.
"You know, we could've just stuck to pizza and tv on the couch, if we wanted to hang out..." she says lingeringly.
I burst into laughter and she looks at me with a raised eyebrow. I stop the car when I realize that she is serious.
"Oh. You're serious. Um...well it isn't too late to-" I begin.
"I'm kidding bear! We always do that! And maybe it's time we try something new. Now let's go! I'm starving!" She exclaims.
It's October, but it's still quite hot here in California, so I roll the windows down. We continue to talk, and laugh about the most random things.
Jenn tilts her head towards the rolled down window.
I turn and look at her in admiration.
I admired everything about her, from the way the breeze blew her hair to the way her eyes twinkled when she laughed.
She was beautiful.
She was beautiful for the way she thought. She was beautiful for that sparkle in her eyes when she talked about something she loved.
I loved the way that she was unexplainable. You think she's the good girl, but once you get to know her, you realize she's everything. She's crazy, she's funny, she's honest, and you'll never know what she'll do next.
That's was I loved about Jenn. She had her imperfections but to me she was perfect and all I ever needed. She was imperfectly perfect.
But I knew it was wrong. To think of her like this when I am already in a relationship. Why can't I get over it? Why can't I get over her? Jennifer.
It's not like we were ever together. But I guess the thing is, that sometimes someone comes into your life and changes everything. Raises the standards, makes you laugh, and makes you feel like you. And that's exactly what Jenn did.
There is something about her that I just can't put into words. And even though I'm not with her, I don't want to let her go.
As I am stuck deep in my thoughts, Jennifer turns her head from the window towards me. I keep my eyes fixed on the road, although I can tell that she is still looking at me.
Then, all of a sudden she says something that stuns me.
"You know, it's times like this I when I think of you and I wonder if you ever think of me."
