Chapter 79: Yellow

Beck

I'm pregnant.

Though I can't say for sure just yet, I would bet all the money in the world on this.

It's like a game of 'clue'. All signs point towards this fact and honestly, if I were to NOT be pregnant, then it would be even more upsetting than if I am. Because if being knotted by both my mates didn't put a baby in me, nothing ever will.

I understand werewolf biology. I had a very comprehensive health class here on the reservation. It's simple, really. Either I am pregnant now or I can't conceive at all. And if that's true, then we're fucked.

The Atwood dynasty would cease to exist and my mates would be the last Alpha of their bloodline. And I sincerely doubt that would come to pass. No, bitch. This is not happening. The Goddess didn't pair me to both twins just so neither of them could ever father a child.

I refuse to believe that, I really do. It'd be such a cruel twist of fate and utterly unfair to both of the boys. It's not that I want to have a child now, I don't. Like at all. But I don't want to have the option taken away from me either. Goddess no! I do want a family eventually. I'm just too young to start it now.

Anyway, there is no point in debating this anymore. It's in the hands of the Goddess now. All I can do is to move on with my life. There's no other alternative.

I slept alone last night and the night before. Since I did so much activity during my heat, I wanted to rest my... Well, I needed to take a break from sex for a little while. It was good to have this time to recharge my batteries, so to speak.

Now it's New Year's Eve and I'm ready to go out with a bang.

Some of my family is getting together in my aunt's house tonight to welcome the New Year, so that's where we're going to celebrate it. My father is going to spend the day with his family since he has the day off, this way he is free to go with us later.

It's been quite a while since I saw my paternal grandparents, so dad asked me to come along. Of course, my mates accompanied me. Wherever I go, they go. We're kind of a package deal now, but my father expressed no objections.

We arrived at my grandparents' house. An old residency with lots of indigenous decorations and ornaments. They welcomed us with warm hugs and greeted my mates with curious looks.

They had a lot of questions regarding our mating and how it is for me to juggle two mates at the same time. I told them it is much better now than in the beginning. It has been a journey so far. My father told them that I might be pregnant, which shocked them.

My grandpa informed us that no Becker has ever fathered an omega. But when dad told them I wasn't one, then it threw their heads for a loop. If I'm not an omega, then how come I could be pregnant?

Yeah... I know, right? I don't know either.

My grandma was puzzled, so she made me a special tea, an ancient recipe to determine if I was in fact with child. I asked her how a tea was supposed to reveal if I am pregnant. I've never heard of such a thing.

She replied that if my urine comes back red, then it means positive. If my urine is yellow, then I'm not. Though I had a tough time believing the science behind this, I wouldn't offend her by not drinking the tea. I'm sure it's harmless. It's just tea, after all.

For once since I came back to the reservation, I saw my father happy and content about my return. He seemed so at ease in the company of his parents. The former Chief, his dad, asked him about how he was dealing with the fact that his mate was away.

My father grimaced at the question. It has been so nice having us here that for a second he forgot that this is only temporary, but he told them they were making plans to see each other as much as possible. He knows we have to return to Ruckerford Falls soon.

My grandma started to teach my mates some words from our dialect. Every tribe has its specific dialect and us Cheyennes are no exception. They were both interested to learn about it and about our culture as well, especially Jude who has a curious mind.

She gifted my mates a 'dream catcher' made by her and they were amazed by the instrument that keeps the bad dreams away. Dad and grandpa talked for a while about our pack and his work as Chief. I guess this is the time for them to catch up.

Meanwhile, I was curiously waiting for the need to pee to find out the color of it. Does this tea have any merit? I'm sure it must have. My grandma is famous here for her knowledge of herbs.

"You seemed troubled, son. Are you worried about the possibility of being pregnant?" - Grandma asked me in a serene tone, approaching me in the kitchen while I was drinking some natural juice.

"I am, grandma. I cannot lie. This is not part of my plans." - I replied, sounding troubled.

I'm far too young for this to happen now. I should be having the time of my life, finishing high school and planning for college. For me to have to worry about any other thing right now is distracting, to say the least.

"I see. You know, it's not uncommon for women to have this same problem. Sometimes, they come to me with reservations about having an unplanned baby or even worse, an unmated pup. I have helped a lot of young girls in my time. Do you want me to help you too?" - She offered, ever so kindly.

I was taken aback by her offer. I know what she means by that, of course. I'm sure my mates have heard it from the living room and are now freaking out about my answer. Though I'm not so sure any of them want me to keep it, if I'm being honest.

"I don't know, grandma. I don't even know if I am pregnant or not. Maybe I should wait for the pee result first." - I replied, nervously. I'm so apprehensive. It's a kind offer, but my mind is in shambles right now. I don't know what I want.

I know babies cost a lot to raise and none of us have any income yet. They won't have any until one of them ascends as the next Alpha. And that could take a few years, especially with college still ahead.

"I understand your nervousness. It's not an easy decision. But know that I respect you and whatever you decide, it's fine by me. If you need any help, grandma and grandpa are here for you." - She spoke with a kind smile and a loving gaze.

I hugged her for the support I'm getting. Where I thought maybe I'd be received with confusion about my double mating, I'm being showered with a plethora of love and acceptance. I love my grandparents.

After a few hours, I finally had to pee and for the first time in my life, I was curious to see what color of urine my bladder would produce. Maybe it'll be yellow, so I'm freaking out for no reason.

"It was more like a whine, a crimson red, very dark. I'm confused, grandma." - I told her about it after I left the bathroom, nervous and curious about this. I thought my options were either red or yellow. This is not what I expected.

At this point, we're all aware of what just happened. My mates are in pins and needles about the outcome and eager to find out about the result. As were my dad and grandfather.

"Oh." - She gasped, taken aback by my words. - "I did not expect that." - She said, looking at me with a frightful expression.

OK, now I'm really worried about this tea business. What does this color mean?

All of us kept staring at her with frowns and freaked out stares, waiting for her to tell us what this result meant for me. Quentin was nearly trembling in anxiety at this point.

"Grandma, what does this color mean? Is there anything wrong with me? Please, tell me." - I pleaded, nervously. Sweat trickled down my forehead. My father was on the edge of his seat waiting for her to tell us.

"There's nothing wrong with you, my child." - She affirmed with a sweet tone. She took my hand in hers and caressed softly, reassuring me.

"But dark red means you're pregnant with twins." - She spoke and I gasped in shock.

"TWINS?!" - Jude and Quentin shouted at the same time, shocked beyond words.

"What? Are you sure?" - I was baffled, shaking in nervousness. What the fuck?

"Yes, I'm sure. But if you want to wait more time and go to the doctor, it's completely fine by me." - She stated, trying to put me at ease.

I'm horrified. Twins? Really? What the actual fuck! Get me out of here now...

"I'll take that tea now, grandma. PLEASE!" - I demanded of her, practically stuttering. I was so nervous I could barely enunciate.

She smiled at me and left for the kitchen to make the special tea. I never thought I'd be here, to be honest, I didn't expect this at all. I knew it was a possibility because of the genetic factor, but still...

Jude hugs me for a moment to comfort me. I'm beyond shocked, I'm shaking in nervousness. Twins? No, thank you.

"I'm sorry, guys. I can't have twins right now. I can't have any babies at this moment, let alone twins. I'm so not ready for this." - I told my mates, tearfully. I'm sure they might have other plans for this pregnancy, but I'm the one who's delivering and I'm not prepared for it.

"It's fine, Beck. Don't you worry about it! You should do what's best for you. Neither of us are ready to be parents, it's not just you." - Jude comforted me, concerned about the shocking news.

"Especially twins." - Quentin chimed in, looking horrified. He was shocked beyond words by this twist. Especially since we all suspect they would be his, technically speaking.

"I never wanted to slap you as hard as I do right now..." - I told him, who widened his eyes at me.

"You have no way of knowing if this is my fault." - He defended himself, taken aback by this.

"Kuckunniwi, now it's not the time to play the blame game. If you don't want to bear children now, it's your choice. But don't start pointing fingers because it's useless. You're all mated to each other. And there's no guarantee that you weren't already pregnant before you were struck by heat." - Dad called me out, frowning at me reprehensibly.

"Dad, pregnant people can't get heat. It's literally impossible." - I rolled my eyes, annoyed at this.

"So is someone who isn't an omega to get pregnant, yet here we are." - He retorted, annoyed at me.

We glared daggers at each other for a while. In the meantime, my mates were still reeling from the shocking news. Jude was there for me while Quentin took a beat to process everything. Then, he offered me his unwavering support.

Grandma came back with the hot tea. It's bitter as hell, but she said I had to drink it all. Don't worry, grandma. I'm not complaining. I'll drink a gallon of this if it means no more of me carrying twins.

"I don't mean to sound doubtful, but are you sure this will take care of everything? Maybe I need to come back here tomorrow and drink it once more." - I double checked with her, disturbed by the notion of giving birth to two babies at once.

She smiled at my nervousness and apprehension, looking at me with her sweet gaze.

"Yes, I'm sure. This knowledge was passed down from my mother, who got it from her mother. You're not the first boy that came knocking at my door after a heat episode went wrong." - She reassured me in a soft tone and tender smile.

"Thanks, grandma. You're a lifesaver." - I breathed out a relieved sigh.

Oh my Goddess! I cannot believe this just happened to me. Twins? I'm gagged.

We had lunch at my grandparents' house, where the three of us were mostly quiet for the remainder of the day. It would take some time for me to process this upsetting news. I know I never considered abortion in my life whatsoever. I thought about having it, if it was only one child.

But twins just put us in a whole other situation that I'm not even remotely prepared to deal with right now. Not at all.

Funny. Never in my life I was so hopeful I'd pee yellow. *sweats in nervousness*

A|N: BOOM!

Never in a MILLION years could I have thought possible to use this song in one of my books. LOL

It's funny how our mind works sometimes. I did not expect this chapter to end up like this.

At first, I had this idea of playing with the paternity doubt. I would have made you all think the child is by one twin and later we'd find out his father was another.

But in highsight, determining the father of the child would defeat the purpose of the mating. It would divide the twins into categories of father and uncle and forever putting in check the whole idea of who should be the next Alpha.

Because whoever wins the upcoming battle, should not have to think their son won't succeed them. And if none of them knows whose child it is, then it's anyone's game.

It's funny how at times we come armed with one idea and it ends up being completely different from what I had thought originally. I repeat, I DID not plan on writing this chapter that way.

When I was writing the heat episode, I had this idea of making the twins fight for dominance over Beck and only one of them would succeed in having his way with him.

That actually happens in normal wolf packs, to be fair. Usually only the Alpha takes the female for himself. But they are both Alphas.

It would be so much fun to play around the concept of having them both 'attacking' Beck at the same time. It was so much more fun this way. And hotter, of course. So, the best idea won. At least, so I hope.

In conclusion, though I did not expect to write an abortion into the story, it felt true to the character and the moment in his life. Though that doesn't mean Beck is free of having (another set of) twins if ever he gets pregnant again. Who knows?

Next comes yet another twist. Are you ready for it? Because the tea is scorching hot. Its called "So Sick".

Love,

Léo.
