Chapter 6: Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing
Quentin
My father is mad.
After he came to the waterfalls and had to personally stop us from fighting, not only did it kill the mood for all the teens who were present at the time - they all bowed their heads to him and scattered around, leaving us basically alone with him in the vast beautiful landscape.
He also had to call a doctor to treat our injuries, which by the time he arrived were already pretty severe. My brother pulled no punches, not that I expected him to.
You can't mess with his little freak without getting his panties in a bunch. If you ask me, she can defend herself very well. She doesn't need him to do it, not that she would ever act against me.
Anyway, now that the doctor is done with our treatments and has gone from our house, my father is berating us like a maniac.
"I got a desperate mind link from a goddamn teenager telling me my sons are about to kill each other at the waterfalls." - He shouted, ferociously.
"At first, I thought someone must be pranking me. I can't possibly believe either of my children would he stupid enough to be fighting in front of an audience for no good reason!" - He shouted, beyond mad.
Right. Because who in their right mind would ever prank the Alpha of the pack? The commander of the entire city. Mind link is not an anonymous call, the Alpha knows who is linking him. No one would prank an Alpha, especially not a ruthless son of a bitch like my father.
"I had to leave the house in a hurry, fearing something must have gone wrong. There must be some kind of mistake. My sons would never disrespect me or their mother by fighting like a bunch of rogues." - He continued in a loud voice.
"Not my sons, the future of the pack. If they're fighting someone, it better be because we're under attack and they started off at the waterfalls. That's the only reason I can think of for them to be scraping. But no, they're fighting each other like two idiots with people chanting them on like they were in a boxing ring!" - He ranted, pissed off.
My mother was present, looking disappointed in us. But she was silent because once my dad starts, no one can stop him. He's like a missile that way.
"Are you freaking kidding me?! You're supposed to set an example! You're supposed to be leaders! If anyone is fighting, it better be because someone's life was on the line and violence was the only resource!" - He screamed at us as we lowered our heads in embarrassment.
It has been a while since I've seen my dad this angry at us. But there's nothing he hates more than feeling embarrassed before his pack. And no doubt this fight is gonna be gossiped all around town.
Finally, my mom approached his side calmly and gently placed a hand over dad's shoulders. He took a breather.
"You're both grounded until the end of summer. No more waterfalls. No more car trips. No more girlfriend. You'd be lucky if we allow any visitation." - Mom declared, to which I revolted.
"No girlfriend? Mom, I need to see Cassie!" - I protested vehemently.
"What you need is to get a fucking grip, Quentin. You're 17 years old. It's past time you start taking life more seriously. Especially if you want to take over as Alpha. From what I've seen at the fight, nothing is guaranteed." - My father snapped at me, taking a dig at the fact that when he arrived in the waterfalls, Jude was on top of me punching.
I winced from the not so subtle jab. Though my brother claims he's not interested in being Alpha, it doesn't mean he's a bad fighter. We're taught at the same level by the same person for the sake of fairness.
My dad wouldn't want to seem favorable to me, even though he's secretly hoping I'll win. Not that he said that to me out loud. He would never dare to favor a son.
"I'm sorry for my part in the fight. Please let me see my girlfriend. Don't keep her away from me, dad!" - I pleaded, really bothered by this.
"I'm not keeping her away from you. I'm keeping you away from everyone! Now go take a shower, you're both filthy from rolling around in the mud like savages." - He demanded, annoyed at us.
Mom kept staring at us so disappointed that it was hard to cope. Dad was brutal, for sure. But my mom has a way of making us feel worse just by her disapproving stare.
Jude and I left the living room towards the bathroom together.
"Who do you think reported us to dad?" - I inquired in a low tone.
"None of your friends, that's for sure." - He rolled his eyes, grunting.
"If it wasn't my friends, then there's only one person left." - I said with an accusatory tone.
"Would you rather she had let me kill you?" - He looked at me dismissively.
"I think we both know she doesn't care about my health. If she was worried about someone dying, it certainly wasn't me." - I scoffed, playfully.
My brother rolls his eyes, but doesn't rebuke me. He knows I'm right, though we don't know for sure it was the freak.
We walked all the way to the bathroom where we would bathe, but now had to decide who goes first.
"I'm filthier, so I should go first." - I declared, to which he glared at me.
"You always want to go first in everything! You take everything and leave me with the scraps. You do know not everything is a competition, right? You are allowed to be a decent person..." - He protested vigorously.
"Life is an endless competition, brother." - I stated, taking off my shirt. My chest was littered with bruises from the confrontation.
"Can you please just let me take a shower? I'm reeking!" - He pleaded, humbly.
"Of course I do. Right after me." - I declared, unbuttoning my pants. I smiled boastfully at him, before I was down to my underpants.
"What's wrong with you?" - He glared daggers at me.
"If you don't leave now, you're gonna get an eye full. It's your choice." - I warned him, my fingers were already in the waistband of my boxers.
Jude turned around and left, looking disgusted at me. I closed the door and started the shower. He does reek, but so do I.
After a long hot shower, I left the bathroom wrapped in a towel towards my room. My brother then crossed the hallway from his room to the bathroom glaring at me.
"If you didn't leave me hot water, I will end you." - He threatened me. I laughed, of course.
I love me some long baths, but having to share a bathroom proves challenging at times when you live with a prima donna.
Some time later, both of us got downstairs to the kitchen to eat lunch. My parents were still looking mad at us, but fortunately my mother loves to cook and she's very good at it.
We take our seats as my father is reading something on his tablet at the head of the table.
Jude gets up to ask mom if she needs any help, to which she replies:
"No thanks, sweetie. Your father is helping me." - She turned to look at my dad, who instantly got the message and went to her aid.
"Mama's boy." - I muttered to my brother as he sat back down.
"It's called empathy, psycho." - He shot back. I laughed at him.
"I'm glad you're in a good mood, son. Because as soon as you're done with lunch, I'm taking you to the training center. You're volunteering to help out any way you can." - Dad announced with an evil smirk.
"What? But I'm injured!" - I protested, gobsmacked by this news.
"I know, that's why you're not there to train, just to help out. Maybe clean the place up." - He explained and I nearly gagged.
"Cleaning? What the hell! Why should I clean anything? I'm the future Alpha of the pack!" - I shouted, horrified. Jude glared at me instantly.
"I don't know that. All I know is you're not gonna be cooked up here with WiFi and video games. That's not a punishment, that's vacation. You'll go where you can be of use." - Dad stated with conviction.
Jude is resisting a boastful giggle at my expense, barely.
"Don't they have a janitor to clean the place? Why would they need my help?" - I asked, perplexed.
"Because I said so!" - He exclaimed with a loud commanding voice that had me lowering my head to the Alpha.
My parents set the table and we start serving ourselves.
"Please, at least let me see Cassie afterwards." - I insisted, desperately.
"Afterwards, you're going straight home. No detours." - He shot it down.
"School is back in a week, Quentin. You're not gonna be apart from her for long..." - Jude tried to make me feel better, but I'm not in the mood.
"It's easy for you to say, no one likes or wants to date you." - I jabbed, making him wince.
"Quentin!" - Mom reprimanded me in a scream.
Jude is fuming at me, but it's not my fault nobody wants him. He is lucky to be getting a mate when he turns 18.
"Thank you for proving my point, son. You don't deserve to see anyone until you improve the relationship with your brother." - Dad noted, not amused by this.
"First, you set us off against each other, now you want us to be best friends? Pick a side Alpha because you can't have it both ways." - I fought back, raging.
My father growled at me.
"I never said I wanted you two to be enemies! You're brothers, for Goddess' sake!" - He shouted, ferociously mad.
I grunted in annoyance. Sorry, dad. Now it 's too late. What you set in motion can't be stopped. Mercy is for the weak. I won't be deterred.
Lunch nearly caused indigestion with all the glares being exchanged among the family members.
My parents were pissed off. Jude was furious at me and I was angry at dad for keeping me away from my girlfriend.
Unfortunately, I was forced to go to the training center to help out like my father had commanded me. We arrived together and as people bowed their heads to him, Mr. Booker approached us. The head enforcer of the pack, a fearsome warrior you don't want as your enemy.
"Good afternoon, Alpha. Have you come to bring your son to train? I thought he didn't train without his brother..." - He inquired, puzzled by seeing us both here without Jude.
"No, Booker. Quentin has behaved poorly, so I brought him to volunteer here. You know, help out wherever he can." - Dad explained to him, reprehensibly glaring at me.
At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if he already heard about the fight. He has a teenage son who was present at the time.
"I see... Well, I'll be sure to put him to good use, sir." - He said, joining my father in his disapproving stare.
Great. Just what I needed, forced free labor and less time with Cassie. We were doing so great this summer, inseparable. I had to fuck it up...
As promised, I spent the whole afternoon restocking shelves, cleaning the gym equipment, going as far as mop the locker room floor. Honestly, I didn't think my life could get more degrading than having to clean after sweaty men.
By the time the clock struck 6 p.m. I was beat. My father left me here and returned to his office, so I'm without a ride to go back home. In fact, my car is still near the waterfalls where I left it.
Oh my Goddess, I need to link Dragon to pick me up. As I left the place, I was surprised to see my car parked outside with my brother behind the wheel waiting for me.
Well, at least I don't have to ask someone to pick me up.
"Was your punishment to come here to see how a real man works?" - I teased him as I entered the car.
"No, smart ass. You wouldn't know what a real man is even if he fucked you in the ass!" - He barked at me with a foul mood.
I laughed at this.
"I think you're confusing me with you. That's what you like. Once you find someone to do it, that is." - I refuted, taking a dig at his lonesome status.
Jude drove off grunting in annoyance.
"You don't know everything about me!" - He pouted angrily.
"Sure, brother. You go, girl." - I scoffed. I have never seen him with a boy in a romantic setting, so either he's a master in the down low or he's full of it.
Anyway, I prefer not to waste my time debating it.
"Did mom drop you off at the waterfalls?" - I inquired, curiously.
He turned to me as he steered the wheel with a death stare that would make lesser men shake.
"No, I had to walk back to the waterfalls to get the car and pick you up." - He replied in an angry tone.
"That must have taken hours!" - I gasped in shock. The waterfalls are very distant from our house. If he walked there, he would be exhausted.
"5 hours to be precise. Which is kind of ironic since I wasn't the one who took the car in the first place." - He grunted, annoyed.
"Well, at least you didn't have to clean the entire training center from top to bottom, including the locker room. Though I'm sure you'd love that..." - I snickered, breathing out a tired sigh.
"Contrary to what you may think, I actually hate the locker room. It's already hell having to go through high school as a queer person, it only exacerbates the experience by me having to endure every male teen thinking I'm there to ogle them naked. I would absolutely hate having to enter the warriors' locker room, it's bad enough when we're training and I'd rather leave the place reeking if I could." - He ranted, pissed off at the insinuation.
Damn! OK, then...
We arrived home and I went straight to the bathroom to shower this rancid day off of me. Unfortunately, my brother had the same idea as me.🙄
"I don't know why you insist, brother. You're not showering before me." - I said, already starting to take my clothes off as we battle it out for the bathroom.
"You're not getting away with it this time! You think you're the only one who's clever? Fuck you, psycho!" - He barked at me, seriously pissed off.
He rushed towards the shower stall taking his clothes off in a flash. It's funny because he never does that in front of me, but I guess he's really mad this time.
I wanted to pull him away from the stall, but I'm not starting another fight with him, especially while he's not wearing any clothes.🤢
Instead, I patiently go to my room leaving the bathroom door opened just to annoy him. Hey, what are brothers for?

A|N: Woof, the tension is killing me!
I loved writing stories with siblings who got along great, but this has been brewing in me for quite a while now. And if you think Quentin is bad, you haven't seen the half of it.
Love,
Léo.
