Me, The First Half Immortal Half Spirit (10)
"Who's back...? Mom what do you mean?" I asked my voice low and frightened.
"How can this be happening..." she kept mumbling in my hairs "How can they come back. They weren't supposed to..."
"Mom!!" I said, this time louder, pushing myself away from her embrace "What. Are. You. Talking. About?"
"We should have told you sooner, we should have warned you..." she whispered her hands covering her face, trying to stop her uncontrolled sobs.
But before I could ask more, my father was in the room.
"Pack your suitcase Jasmine." he ordered me, his face expressionless.
I couldn't see my father in this face, this too stoic face.
"What's going on dad?"
My father stared at something behind me, his eyes narrowing, and that's when I realized Matt was still in the room.
Matt got up from my bed and out of my room, after brushing his hand to my hand, staring at me with desperate eyes.
Like I needed that right now!
"I'm sorry Jasmine, we should have told you this sooner... but I guess we were scared something like this would happen" my father said and my mother sobs got louder "but what is done is done now..."
"What are you saying dad? I don't understand anything!" I yelled.
"We didn't adopt you... we... a man came to our house and he said we had been chosen, he said he had chosen us to take care of someone very important; you. He said we were the best match; he said we could take care of you and provide you with everything you needed. He said you were different; special. At first me and your mom, we didn't know what to say, it's not every day a strange tells you, you were chosen to take care of a baby. But then when we saw you for the first time we just knew you were our kid. But then he warned us. There were people, people from this very town who were a danger for you, he said. He showed us picture, told us stories..."
"Impossible stories..." my mother whispered.
"They were after you...But the man, well he did something, and then all these "men" they left town and we never heard from them again... But now they're back. And you have to leave!" my father finished and he walked to my wardrobe to grab my suitcase and dropped it on my bed.
"But dad, wait? I... I saw someone... in my dreams; she said she was my mother..." I said in a dim voice.
"It's possible... The man said you had parents but you wouldn't be in security with them, they did what they thought was best for you..."
"These men, what do they want dad?"
"You. They want you, and they are going to take you with them if you don't leave right now!"
"What are they...?"
My father looked at me shocked, but then he shook his head and answered "Immortal"
"My mother said the Spirit were the bad guys!" I shouted.
"Well I don't care. Either way you have to leave. The man said we could NEVER let you leave with ANY of them!"
"But dad what..." I started to say but my father cut me "No Jasmine! You don't understand! These Immortals, these Spirits they can do you great arm, whether you like it or not, they are dangerous and they stop at nothing!"
I wanted to know more, I wanted to understand more, but then thunder struck outside, in an ear breaking sound. I looked out the window to see the sky pitch black.
What's going on?
"Where too late..." my mother whispered.
"RUN!!!" my father yelled at the same time my windows exploded, glass shattering everywhere, sharp and deadly.
Without even thinking about it, I threw myself in front of my parents, the glass piercing my skin, sinking deep into my flesh. My mother shrieked behind me and my father yelled my name, desperate.
I turned around to look at them, numb with all feeling. I could feel the glass in my skin, or the blood that most be dripping out of my wounds.
My parents had the weirdest expression in their eyes, as the stared at me and then I looked down to where they were looking and saw the glass that had been, second ago in my flesh, fall to the ground in a distinct "ting".
Before I could say anything, before they could saw anything, I saw them grab their heads in pain, their eyes shot, their bodies shaking.
"MOM!!! DAD!!!" I shouted and crawled to their limp bodies.
"No, no, no,no,no,no,no..." I kept mumbling, taking their hands, trying to shake them awake.
The lightning lighted the sky outside and then thunder rumbled again.
And then I saw my father lips move and I bended my head to his mouth.
"Run..." I heard him breathe.
So I got up on my feet, completely numb and frightened, and then I ran out of my room, leaving my parents behind.
How could I be leaving them behind? I should stay with them... But then what could I do? No I needed to save myself, I needed to leave this place, that way maybe whoever was out there for me, they would leave my parents, maybe they weren't dying, maybe they would be okay... Please, let them be okay...
I ran towards the stairs but then something grabbed my wrist and I yelled in fright.
No!! It couldn't be over yet! They couldn't have found me yet!!
But then the arm spun me around and I was facing Matt.
He looked in my eyes and I saw something in his I had never seen before; fear, complete and utter fear.
"Come on" he whispered and then we were running down the stairs hand in hand.
We were running towards the front door when it busted open, revealing a tall male, with a mohawk and a girl her hair completely braided and swords in her hand.
I gasped and my scream was chocked by Matt's hand on my mouth has he dragged me towards the back door.
When we opened it, the wind crushed against our face, making us take a step back, the lightning striking and the thunder breaking the dead silence. Matt squeezed my hand in a reassuring gesture and then we stepped outside, running against the powerful wind, almost as strong as a hurricane.
We were running faster than I thought I could be pushing my legs, as fast as Olympians sprinters, across my yard. I didn't know if the boy and the girl were following us, I didn't know if they were behind us, but I just kept running, trusting Matt's hand, holding it like it was a matter of life or death, which probably was...
I didn't know where we were going until I saw Matt's car behind his house. Matt released my hand and I slipped in the passage seat and even before I had time to buckle my seat belt Matt was already starting the car.
But that's when the real meaning of what was happening hit me.
"Matt!! You can't come with me! Didn't you hear my parents!!? They're dangerous!!" I yelled at him, desperate.
I couldn't drag Matt into this. I couldn't put his life in jeopardy.
"Yes I heard Jass! Do you really think I wouldn't do anything?!! I'll never let anyone hurt you!!! NEVER!!!" he yelled at me as the car sped down the street.
"But Matt, I don't even know what they'll do!! I can't drag you into this, I can't bear the thought of you getting hurt over me!!" I cried.
Matt looked at me, his eyes full of fear and anger and confusion, and love and despair and so many other things and all I wanted right now was to cry. I wanted to forget about all of this.
I just wanted to be normal...
I turned my head slightly but then my eyes grew wider.
"MATT WATCH OUT!!!!!!!" I yelled as a tree slammed into the windshield, the glass shattering everywhere again.
My head bumped into the dash as no airbag exploded, the car being too old to have any. I started to see white spots everywhere, feeling my consciousness slowly slipping away.
The last things I saw were the mohawk boy, ripping my door open and Matt unconscious beside me...
