035. DIDN'T YOU KNOW
real life :
Honestly, Elijah felt great. He felt great and he loved the feeling.
He felt great watching his little sister dance around the stage, making moves the brunette could probably never do, even if he practiced for months.
The young girl looked elegant and graceful as she twirled around the stage, but still with a sense of confidence that made her look to own the very floor she was standing on.
After the show was over, the older Beck sibling couldn't help but beam with pride as Mallory and her fellow ballerinas bowed, while cheering loudly.
Levi, who sat on the brunet's shoulder, was hollering as well, turning his head around while pointing at his older sister, shouting 'that's my sister!' on repeat.
On his right side stood his father and Ava, who too, had proud grins on their faces. It had been a while since the last time they all had been together, with everything that happened in the last few months.
But alas, the Beck family was back together, and it was a wonderful moment.
Around fifteen later, the four were having a drink in the bar, next to the small theatre, waiting for Mallory to make an appearance.
As soon as the stage doors opened, a certain blonde sprinted out with a goofy grin plastered on her face.
Elijah, who already faced the door, shot up only seconds before the young blonde jumped into his arms, "Belly! What did you think of it?!"
The brunet, who was slightly taken aback by the impact of his sister slamming into him, took a second to reply, "You were great! How you did that turning thingy was so good!"
The family continued to talk after, mostly praising Mallory for her dance.
After another half an hour, the family separated. Mallory and Levi would sleep at Elijah's as it was Robin and Ava's wedding anniversary and the three siblings had made a hotel reservation for the two of them as a surprise as a means to give them a weekend of being alone together.
The three Beck's strolled through the streets of New York City, since Elijah didn't have a car and it wasn't that far to his apartment anyways.
The older brunet had to firmly hold on to Levi's hand, to prevent him from running off and disappearing into the crowds of people that walked around them.
He didn't have to hold Mallory's hand, since he knew she would stay close. She strolled in front of her two brothers for a bit, taking in the sight of the skyscrapers that were located all around them. She wasn't used to it, not nearly, even when she came here pretty often. Most of the Beck family lived upstate in the suburbs, and didn't come to Manhattan too often, which both Mallory and Levi thought to be a shame.
"Don't go too far, alright Mall?" Elijah spoke a little louder than usual, trying to make himself heard above the see of white noise that came with being in a city.
A nod was sent his way, and so the three continued their walk.
As Elijah continued to stroll across the streets, a weird sensation washed over him and a slight shiver ran down his spine, feeling like he was being watched.
He relaxed his tense shoulder however, as he felt like he was being crazy, and let a soft sigh escape his lips.
"What's up?" Levi spoke from beside him, looking up at him with big eyes.
The brunet shook his head softly, shooting his younger brother a smile, "Nothing. Just your brother being weird."
"If you say so.."
Elijah gave a little tug at his brother's arm, "Hey, are you doubting me?"
The young blond put his hands up in a fake surrender, "Me? Never!"
The hazel-eyed brunet opened his mouth again, to say something back, but was cut off by a voice.
"Oh my god. That's Mysterio!"
A rock seemed to hit the brunet's stomach at the statement, and he whipped his head around, coming face to face with two teenagers that made their way to him.
He was stunned, and all blood seemed to drain from his face, as he tightened his grip on Levi's hand ever so slightly.
One of the teenagers, a tanned girl with black glasses placed on her nose, spoke up the moment the two stopped in front of Elijah and Levi, "We're such big fans. I've watched your videos since 2015!"
The brunet still couldn't seem to open his mouth, he just eyed the two girls with a panicked expression on his face.
"Are you okay?" The other girl asked, cocking her head ever so slightly.
Elijah seemed to snap out of whatever he was stuck in, at the question, nodding slowly, "I'm sorry, but how do you know I'm Mysterio?"
A guilty look grew on the girls' faces, and one of them reached towards her small bag, taking a phone out of it and giving it to the brunet, "Everybody knows. Didn't you know?"
As Elijah scrolled through the Tumblr post, his already pale face, turned three shades whiter, and rubbed the back of his neck slowly, feeling like everything was crashing down on him.
"No I didn't.."
The girl with the glasses let out a short 'oh', before repositioning herself, "I'm sorry about that.."
Elijah shook his head, "It's not your fault. I would love to talk with the two of you, you seem nice, but I really have to go home.."
The two teenagers nodded in unison, clearly understanding his reasons.
The brunet handed the girl her phone back before turning around, trying to walk away, only to be met with a small circle of people standing around him, that seemed to grow by the second.
Apparently the girls had gotten some attention with their actions, and now all kinds of different people circled around him and Levi, who was getting very nervous.
He couldn't seem to make out any of the words that were being thrown at him, as he slowly turned around, seeing that he was surrounded by all strangers.
Some took pictures of him, with or without flash, and the brunet began to feel a little light headed.
He couldn't grasp what was going on, everything was fine mere minutes ago. Now it seemed like everything was burdening itself on his shoulder and he just wanted to go home and cry.
The seconds seemed to drag on forever, and Elijah still couldn't get a grip of his thoughts and mind, his face as pale as a sheet.
Then a sudden thought raced through his mind, where is Mallory.
He whipped his head around into the direction he last saw her, only to face another heap of people, that seemed to gawk at him like he was their prey.
Normally, he would've tried to reason with the strangers around him, and tell them he had to go, but it was like he was on autopilot when he tried to push past the people that stood between him and his little sister, tears starting to brim in his eyes, caused by the immense panic he felt.
"Everybody, move!" A distant voice spoke up, rising above the voices of the crowd, clear as day. The voice was somehow familiar to Elijah, as he was able to pick it out from the jungle of different noises.
A set of hands were placed on his shoulders moments after. But as a reflex, the brunette pushed them off immediately with his free hand, still holding onto Levi with his other, completely hyperventilating by now.
"El, look at me. It's me." The owner of the hands began, trying to make him look up.
Elijah complied and met the gaze of two familiar brown eyes, that held a look of sympathy in them, and a shaky breath escaped his dry lips in relief.
Tom took a hold of his arm again and pulled him away from the centre of the crowd, all while shouting at people to move aside and let them through.
At one point, they had managed to leave the majority of the crowd behind and Elijah skidded to a halt, tugging on the other brunet's arm, "Mallory — we've got to go back!"
"Don't worry, she's with Carrie, her car is right there." The Brit replied in reassurance, starting to walk again, but this time grabbing the other brunet's hand instead.
Elijah still couldn't comprehend what was going on as he was dragged along the streets, his mind in a hazy cloud and his breath hitched.
Only a few moments later the three arrived at a blue car, which opened up immediately to reveal Carrie, who had an incredibly worried look on her face.
She ran over and tackled the spooked brunet into a tight hug, who took a few seconds to react, but placed his arms around her as well, burying his head into the crook of her neck.
"Carrie, what the hell is going on?" Elijah began, his ragged breaths vibrating through his body, "I was just at Mallory's recital- everything was fine. We were just walking home and-."
The blonde shushed him, to prevent him from rambling and forcing him to take a breath, "I don't know honey, I don't know. Just breathe. Let's go home, alright?"
Around an hour later, Carrie had dropped Tom, Elijah, Levi and Mallory off at Elijah's apartment, as she had an emergency on set and had to go.
The British brunet picked up his keys from the pocket of his jacket, ready to take off as well.
He was about to step out of the door of the small apartment before he was cut off by another brunet, who ran into the hallway, "-Wait."
Tom turned around with a slightly confused on his face as he looked at the hazel eyed boy, that made his way over, "Yeah?"
Said boy scratched his neck slowly, looking down at the ground for a moment, "Would you maybe want to stay over? Salem is staying at Teddys' and I-, I don't want to be alone tonight."
A small smile overtook the Brit's features as he nodded, letting the his keys drop back in his pocket, "I'd love to."
