Viruses are terrifying. Freaking scary. Like seriously, you think it's funny to scare us innocent people and break our computers?

Actually, the scaring people part is fun. That aside...

I almost got a virus on my computer today. I tried to download a minecraft mod. I took it from the description of a video and went onto the site. Stupid me didn't read the comments, in which there were some saying there was a virus, and also, when another page opened, saying "click ok to continue with the download", no capitalization and just an ok button, I should have been suspicious.

I clicked on ok. I am smart.

Anyways, when my laptop started making weird beep noises and my antivirus started alerting me, I freaked out, tried to run a scan, and when nothing happened, I shut down my laptop, unplugged the power (my laptop has no battery) and sat on my bed in a fetal position.

Eventually, I asked for help on my device and was told it should be okay if it didn't finish downloading. I turned it on and nothing happened. I sat there with bated breath for multiple minutes then deemed it safe. I unplugged my laptop three times when it was starting up accidentally, though, and I thought it affected my laptop's ability to start up.

Right now, I'm sitting next to my laptop and running a full laptop scan. So far, it's detected 23 files that could be potentially dangerous but have little to no risk. Something would have happened if those were bad, so I'll leave those. It makes a beep when it finds one of those files, and I jump every time. Especially when it finds four in a row and feels the need to blast them on full volume. Thanks, laptop.

Also, two hours and 56 minutes to scan 50% of my laptop?

How much crap IS on this thing, anyways?
