Nî hâo, chī le ma? {Translation: Hello, have you eaten?} So, guess what?! It's Xīn nián!! {Chinese New Year!}
And since it's 2017, it's the year of the gōng jī {rooster}

And, if you haven't noticed already, I changed my profile for this occasion! What? I was born in China and I would feel like I would be dishonoring my heritage if I didn't celebrate this special holiday!

Also, know this, many times today, I'll be speaking Mandarin (with phrases and words that I know of) but I'll translate the pinyin.

For luck for the lunar year, they decorate and wear red for luck (and scare Nián away)
Before you ask, I'm referring to the myth that had started the Chinese New Year. Nián was a Chinese demon that had lived in the mountains that the Chinese Gods had imprisoned him on a mountain that was at the edge of the world.
    A year had passed before Nián had escaped and had attacked a town in China. And the villagers had found out that Nián was scared of the color red, bright lights, and loud noises.
(I'm sorry if I had bored you with my telling of the Nián myth)

Well....for the rest of this new lunar year, I hope that you would xué xí jìn bù {improve studies}, have a shēn tî jiàn kāng {a healthy body} and that I wish you fù {luck/blessing}!! :)
