So, it's 7:45 AM EST here in good ol Georgia, and here I am, in the backyard in 90 degree weather, chopping away at an old Oak Tree stump my dad wants me to remove, now, last week I broke our old hatchet trying to remove some tree roots in the front yard that were preventing us from rototilling the ground. So dad had gone out and bought this fancy new hatchet, and I was 'enjoying' myself in the heat and humidity, when my grip on the hatchet slipped right as I brought it down for a strike. the blade glanced off the stump, turned horizontal and skidded over my knee, leaving a minor scrape, nothing too bad, didn't even hurt. A few minutes later, I go for another strike, and this time, the blade glances off the wood, and sinks INTO my knee, right above my kneecap...fortunately, even though I basically tried to chop my own leg off, the gash is fairly small, still hurts like the nine hells of Corellia, but small nonetheless. I limp my way inside after putting away the hatchet and closing the shed (bleeding down my leg the whole time). And after taking one look at my leg (doesn't even ask what happens, which is kinda funny that she knew immediately what had happened), my mother immediately asks "when was your last tetanus shot?"
My reply; "fifth grade maybe? So almost 10 years ago"
"We're taking you in for a booster shot then,"
