After the big guy left, the teacher started the lesson by handing us the syllabus. When it was all handed out, he said," You will look at all that later, I will not waste time passing through it. Now... let's get to business."
I heard a few pupils groan at that announcement and some started whispering but stopped when the teacher gave them a look.
Okay... so the teacher was intimidating and is feared by everyone. It was nice to know who not to mess with.
"We are going to be learning human body as part of our syllabus this year. I'm starting the topic off with a project. You will all have partners whom I've chosen for you. I'll announce them later. Every morning, you will check your partner's breathing and heart rate. You will check the blood pressure too as you were taught last year. You will record all this in a chart and hand in the chart at the end of every week. Now here are your partners..." His hands went to his large pocket and fished out a sheet of paper from which he started reading names.
As the teacher was reading the long list of names, I heard the girl in front of me whisper to her friend, "What is this? Are we in a hospital or something? How will this even help us?"
I rolled my eyes a bit too noticeably. "What's wrong, blondie? Jugdy much." I felt like this was a start of a smack-down, and I really wanted to participate and win, but I thought better of it.
It would definitely attract more attention and I'd gain enemies. That was exactly what I was trying to avoid.
I just mumbled a sorry and smiled sweetly. Of course that wasn't enough for them, they glared at me and started gossiping about me. I rolled my eyes again, this time cautious for them not to see me.
I turned my attention to the front when I heard the teacher say, "Margaretta, you pair up with Carson." At that, everyone started looking around, as if looking for me.
"Who is Margaretta?" The teacher asked, looking up. I raised my hand and smiled shyly to all the faces now staring at me.
"You are new?" the teacher asked, looking right at me.
"Yes," I answered, smiling once again.
"Carson is the guy who just left. Do not worry. For now, I'm just giving you the equipment. We will start the actual project tomorrow," he said quite sweetly for a strict teacher.
"Thanks for the info," I said in a voice that matched his and his eyes went back to the sheet of paper as he continued reading the names. After that, he did just what he said he would do, he gave us medical equipment.

The bell rang for lunch period, filling my heart with relief. Learning is tiresome.
I stood by my locker, watching different types of pupils walking to the cafeteria, all looking very happy for some reason. Maybe it was because they could finally talk to each other after a long time of not seeing each other. Another thing that I couldn't dream of.
At the sight of all the exuberant faces, I felt really lonely. For some reason, I couldn't tear my gaze away from them. Why did my life have to be like this? I felt a tear going down my face but I quickly wiped it and composed myself.
This is for your own good, Margie. Stay strong.
After they had all disappeared, I was left alone in the hallway. I had packed lunch, so I didn't need to eat in the cafeteria. I took out my map and tried to decide where I was going to eat my lunch. Library? No. I expect the nerds to be there studying. I needed some place private.
Empty classroom? No. I expected some jock to be there, making out with a cheerleader. Anyone could walk in on me eating in there, anyway.
That's when I saw the music room. No one was bound to be there, right? It was far off into the school and isolated. Anyway... I loved music. I could play some of the instruments or maybe sing my heart out whenever I finished eating. Perfect!
I rushed down the hallway, excited to start get to the music room. Suddenly, a male voice started echoing against the walls. The closer I got to the music room, the clearer I could hear him. The lyrics sounded sad but his voice was amazing. I knew that I was not supposed to even let people know that I existed but I was kind of attracted to this guy's voice. It pulled me closer, willing me not to go away.
I got to the music room and peeked inside.
Wow.
That was all that crossed my mind as my eyes took in the beautiful sight. It looked like a studio and had all the equipment, looking new as ever. The interior designers did their job a little bit too well. I was automatically drawn into the room.
There was a boy sitting in the middle of the room, wearing headphones and singing passionately. The more I looked at the back of his head, the more I recognized his messy, brown hair.
This was the kid that had walked out of class at the start of first period. What was his name... Carry? No. Carlos? No. Carson? Yes... That was it, "Carson!"
He suddenly stopped singing and turned around slowly. Damn it! Did I say that out loud? Stupid me didn't duck out of sight, I just froze there, staring at him.
When he caught sight of me, he just froze there too.
"H-hi Carson."
I am totally screwed.
