Chapter 18
Flashback...
"No, No, No! You're not understanding. I want it to be on my table by tomorrow morning!" A loud frustrated sound rang across the hall room and right into her ear, making her groan and shuffle.
"I want that file to be rechecked not twice but thrice and thoroughly. Do you understand?" The vocals rising up, making her cringe and forcing her to change her side.
"Did you just say, No?? Do you even know who are you speaking to?" A huge growl vibrated through his chest making the sofa shake and she covering her ears with the cushion!
"The hell is wrong with you!!!" A thunder bolted in the sky, making the large glass wall in the living room clang and her heart just leaped out of her chest.
"Enough is enough! You're not working for free Mr.Ali!!" He hissed through his clenched teeth making her huff!!
"MR.AZHAR ALI !! I DO NOT LISTEN NO FOR AN ANSWER!!" This was the last blow making her open her eyes and jumping out of the sofa.
"I swear I'm gonna burry you alive with my own bare hands. You rotten piece of egg and stale bread with flies buzzing around you!!" She cursed in her own way, hands on her hips, nose flaring in anger and smoke coming out of her ears. She carelessly blew away a stubborn lock that poked her eyes and threw daggers at him.
He just looked at her and gave her a guilty smile before running his fingers through his thick brown hair. Her gaze didn't missed the shine and glossiness that his hair reflected. Squinting her eyes and furrowing her eyebrows, she threw the cushion at him.
Instantly he whipped around rubbing his back, squinting his eyes, his eyebrows casted downwards. "What? Be a man and attack me from front!" He said keeping his right hand over his cell so that the other person couldn't hear him.
And at the exact moment another cushion was thrown right at his face making him stumble back!
He pouted and did a give-me-one-minute gesture before turning back and running his finger through his hair, again.
"Yes, I've made myself very clear. I want it by tomorrow morning and that's it!" With that he ended the call. Keeping his cell on the kitchen island, he leaned against the island, gripping the grey marble, tightly.
It didn't took her a second also to stand beside him. Placing her hand on his hand and cupping his cheek by the other hand, she made him look at her.
"You alright?" Her eyes roamed all around his face, not even missing a slightest spot go unnoticed!
"I'm fine, Laiba. I'm just feeling a bit light headed" he said softly. She quickly put the back of her hand on his forehead, checking for any sign of the fever but released a breath of relief.
"Come, sit!" She said and helped him in walking. Making him sit properly on the sofa, she asked, "Coffee?" He only nodded in response. Giving him one last glance, she went into the kitchen to make Coffee for themselves.
Not even a minute passed when he came and told her that he's going in the balcony.
With Coffee in her hand she walked slowly towards his room, which has an attached balcony. The door of his room was already opened so she didn't had any difficulty walking inside. Walking barefoot towards the balcony, she felt at ease. The light breeze that teased her, threatening to open her messy bun and letting free, her thick luscious brown hair to adorn her back and cascade her slim waist, indicating in the hushed whisper, the upcoming of Snowy Season.
Sitting on the Carry Bird Hanging Swing Chair that was placed on the left side of the balcony, she handed him his mug of Coffee, who was sitting on the floor, beside her leg which was now hanging down from the Swing.
"How are you feeling now?" She whispered, scared that the breeze, the stars, the moon will hear their conversation.
"More alive than before!" He stared at the mesmerising sky ahead. It wasn't even eight yet, and the sky had turned dark. Today the sky was starless and the crescent was hiding somewhere inside the gloomy clouds which was casting it shadow on the city. "I loved the Chicken Soup, that you made!" He looked at her.
"Thank you" She smiled.
"Little soup is still left in the pot, you can finish it!" He said.
She shook her head, "No, I'm not hungry!"
"Btw I'm sorry for disturbing your sleep!" He took a sip of his Coffee.
"But you should be apologizing to me for doing work from home and instead of not resting! This was highly not acceptable of you." She replied in a slightly annoyed tone as her soft and delicate lips touched the mug, sipping coffee, she instantly moaned!
The little sound that came out of her mouth didn't went unheard by him. He ran his hand in his hair as his ears and nose turned pink. Quickly clearing her throat, she fake coughed before slapping her thighs feeling annoyed with herself.
The soft breeze that was blowing turned into a howling wind, who slapped against her skin, making her suck in a sharp breath. Rubbing her palms together she said, "I won't be surprised to wake up to a snowy Chicago!" She blew out a chilled breath.
"You know very well that the fall will end soon, so, you should have wore something warm and something that would've covered you fully!!" He rumbled and she looked at him like a hawk!! Looking back at herself and then at him, she wondered what is his problem with her clothes? And today, she wasn't even wearing shorts!!
"Now, it is fully confirmed that you do get turned on after seeing me!!" She stated the truth. He instantly face palmed!
"Really, Laiba?" He questioned
"Really, Really!" She huffed crossing her arms over her chest.
"I don't even think of you like that!" He shook his head.
Furrowing her eyebrows she replied, "Should I take that as an insult to me?"
And this time he smacked his forehead, hard!
"God, Laiba!!" He groaned. "From where do you even come up with all this!!"
"Then tell me what's the problem with me wearing crop top and jeans?" She was curious to know his reply.
"Ripped jeans!!" He stressed on that.
"Yeah, whatever!" She flipped back her hair.
"Some things should be kept hidden only for your husband to see." He looked straight and said.
"I am sure not walking around in bikini or worse withou-------"
"Miss.Laiba Shaqil, you better zip up your lips!!" He was way too quick to stop her.
She burst out laughing, her head lolling back. "You're way too cute!!" She pinched his cheeks, who were now tinted in pink. "And, you are way too un cute!!" He grumbled.
"Hahaha...Really? But your reactions say it otherwise Mr.Grey Eyes!!" She said in a teasing tone!!
"Haye Allah!!" He threw his hand up in the air.
She laughed out loud, her voice echoing around the air, reaching the sky and tearing up the clouds, forcing the Crescent to come out.
After she calmed down, she leaned her forehead against the corner of the swing while he pulled crossed his legs pulling them to his chest. No, there wasn't any awkward silence between them, but, there was peace in their hearts. He had never seen a girl like her before while she had never met a boy so shy like him ever before.
"Mr.Grey Eyes?"
"Hmm?"
"Why do you tire yourself so much? What's the rush?" She peeked through her thick eyelashes.
He took a deep breath before he replied to her. "It's not about the rush. It's about how much I can push myself to achieve my aim. I want to fly high and catch the stars. I want to prove my Parents that I am their child. If they can go through enough just to give me the best of the best facilities then I can climb up the mountain and show them the unbelievable future that I have planned for them. I never ever want my Dad to think that I was just not capable enough to take up his challenge rather I want to see him proud and eyes full of admiration. Giving me Capital for my business and getting me this house and car is not a big thing for my Dad but for me it is.
Because I've seen him working day and night just to achieve the position where he is now. Each drop of sweat and the creases that had formed on my Dad's forehead, I want to repay it all back to him. And, the only way of repaying him back is by showing that I'm his Son! If he can start his own business and reach the sky then I can surely tear up the clouds!"
Hiding herself behind her bangs, peeking through her eyelashes, she looked up and then looked at him. Smiling, she whispered, Aameen. Not heard by him, but heard by the One And Only, Allah S.W.T.
"You know I want to give every happiness in the world to my Queen. I don't want her to find me in the midst of the crowd rather I want to stand out, so that she could see me from afar.
I don't want her to ever think, that she could have married to someone better because I want myself to be the best for her. You know I'm ready to embrace her at any point she enters my life but I also pray that when she walks in, she sees the man of her dreams standing. I never want her to have second thoughts for me because from before only I would have prepare myself for the best of best, I could give to her.
You know---"
He was cut off when a finger was placed on his lips. Her hair caressing his cheeks, as they both stared. Cupping his cheeks, ever so slowly her lips moved, instantly grabbing his attention as he tried to calm his erratic heart.
"And there you are wrong my best friend, if she is your Queen then you are her King. You know what, it's impossible for a King to run the kingdom without his Queen.
You'll need her because she'll be your comfort. You'll rely on her because she'll be always nurturing your needs and you. You'll trust her because no matter what, nothing, can change her mind of choosing anyone or anything over you. You'll trust her because she will always support you and love you. She will never need to find you if you ever get lost in the midst of the crowd because she'll be walking right beside you, step by step, holding you by your arms, lying her head on your shoulder. You will always confide in her because she will always be there for you, no matter what!
No, Mr.Grey Eyes, you are wrong, if your Queen really deserves you then you won't have to build yourself for her, but build your home together. When you'll come back from work, scarred from the day, your Queen will be your safe heaven. A Queen is ruthlessly committed to her Kingdom and it won't matter to her if her Kingdom is built with luxuriousness or it is just bricks and cement, what will matter is the fact that it is built on a rock solid foundation and that is the love, the compassion, that you both have shared.
A King with a ruthlessly committed Queen by his side is Unstoppable. No one can stop him from achieving his dreams.
You both will complete each other. You will never be able to question her because she herself will be the answers of all of yours unasked questions and She will never question you because you know very well how to calm her unsteady heart.
You will have no fear with her being on your side and she will never lack with you being on her side.
A King is powerful.
But, with his Queen beside her he's Unstoppable!" She took a breath and closed her eyes after saying.
A moment of silence passed, no one speaking anything. Licking her now dry lips, she opened her eyes to find him intensely staring at her lips. A blush was formed on her cheeks, as she tuck a piece of hair behind her right ear.
"You know me so well, Laiba!" He couldn't help but wonder how come she knows him this easily even though he hadn't open up himself, with her.
Every time she gives him a reason to call her, his, bestie!
Every time she gives his heart a reason to skip a beat.
Every time she commands his eyelashes to not blink, not until he is fully satisfied by staring at her.
Every inch, every part of his body pleaded him to grab her, hold her into his arms, embrace her slim figure, cradle her slowly and whisper sweet nothings into her ears.
"Isn't it one of the most important ingredient of marriage?" Her asking a silly question and chuckling at her own question, made him smile.
He can never be tired of her.
"Indeed it is!!" He looked to his side but one reply from her made him whipped towards her.
"There, you got one more reason to marry me!!"
"You are really something else!!" He said shaking his head at her unbelievable reply.
"Oh, No No! I'm only Yours!" She winked at him and his eyes flew out of their sockets right then and there before she threw her head back and laughed loudly covering her mouth with the back of her hand. "You are way too cute!!" She ruffled his hair and sat beside him crossing her legs.
Both of them engrossed in their own silence while the sky and the stars came down a little to listen to their heart that were busily chatting with each other.
"Mr,Grey Eyes?"
"Hmm?" He was looking straight.
"If you are blessed with a baby boy, then name him SHEZAN. Shezan Ashar Sayeed." She smiled as she turned to look at him.
He didn't said anything just smiled.
"And, if you're blessed with a baby girl, then name her AISHA. Aisha Laiba Shaqil." He smiled as he turned to look at her.
The clock kept on ticking as their conversations turned into jokes. Both of them laughed, as they tried to find out what was so funny in their talk, just like the sky was smiling at them, the stars peeking from inside the folds of the sky before fully pulling then out and brightening the sky, as their eyes brightened under each other's gaze.
It wasn't too late when they had both finished eating dinner together and decided to retire for the night. Laiba, gave him his medicines and made him promise to call her even if a strand of his hair is out of it's direction. He just couldn't stop himself from chuckling.
Right, when she was about to walk inside of her house, he called her making her freeze, but giving her a reason to smile, the whole night.
"MY BESTIE!!"
