New Family (Part 1)

(So this is inspired by a story I read on Archiveofourown. I'll see if I can put a link to it here...
https://archiveofourown.org/works/26470687?view_adult=true
You can try copying the link, or search for it. The story is called  'A good kid (A good son)'. It's a really good one! )

Another thing... I think Wilbur is acting a bit out if character here and tries to be a very good big brother instead of the typical "I'm the bitch and I make everyone hate me" that I read in other stories... I don't know why I did it... just a warning.

Let's go!

-----

Great. Just great. With an angry scowl Tommy stared at the wall across from him. The plain white wall with small holes in it from posters and photos from teens who lived here before him. It was making him mad. Why wouldn't the orphanage fix the walls instead of making more and more holes in it? 'Posters can cover it'. Yeah yeah. I don't have any posters bitch! I don't have anything! He was angry. Angry at the orphanage, angry at the foster family who threw him out again, angry at everything.

Tommy is a rather... special kid when it comes to emotions. He has anger issues. Extrem ones at that. He can't control his rage and he's easily provoked. That is one of the main reasons why a foster family won't take him in for long. He would break stuff, hit someone or just scream and yell louder than anyone thought he could. This is the third time this year that a family has brought him back to this home. And he absolutely hates it. If they keep bringing him back, than they shouldn't even take him in and give him hope in the first place!

Hope... that is something that always seems to come back... just to leave him hanging again. Why does he keep hoping that someone genuinely wants him to stay with them? No one wants him. The only way to escape this is that he comes of age and can move into his own apartment. Then he'll finally be free from this prison.

With a defeated groan he opened his bag and wanted to unpack everything, but a loud knock on his door stopped him from doing so. "What?!" Tommy gave up on speaking polite to people a long while ago. But the workers here are used to his attitude by now. A man entered his room, an emotionless expression on his face. "Don't unpack your stuff. You are leaving again." Tommy frowned at that. "Why?" "We have someone willing to foster you. Now get ready to leave in 10 minutes." With an angry huff Tommy started to put his jacket and shoes on while making sure everything was still in his bag.

"Why can't they just leave me be? It's not like they will keep me for long." "Stop questioning and keep moving." Once Tommy was ready he was lead to one of the cars that are parked outside. The car ride was silent... and it made Tommy go crazy. He never heard of a kid immediately switching from one foster home to the next. So hearing he's immediately taken in again does make him nervous. It must be some kind of mistake. Once they arrive at the house the owner will tell him it was a mistake or that they wanted someone else. Surely it wasn't planned that Tommy will be the foster kid... especially when seeing the very nice neighborhood they are driving through. Nice houses, big cars, taken care of lawn and gardens...

Tommy doesn't belong here... in the neighborhood with kids that are probably richer than he could ever be... who are homeschooled or visit some exclusive school or something... he's just a dirty teenager who gets into fights and has a terrible behavior. Nothing like the kids that live around here. At least he thinks so.

The car pulled up into the driveway of one of these nice houses. It had plain white walls, but a nice garden with many different and colorful flowers. There was a more family friendly car in the driveway, not a sports car like in the other ones. "This is your stop. Get out." Tommy grabbed his bag and climbed out of the car. Before he even reached the door it was already opened quite fast. Oh no... is the person living here angry? Maybe he was a mistake...

But instead of facing an angry adult who was about to immediately send him back to the orphanage, he was greeted by warm turquoise eyes and a big smile. The man was only a bit taller than himself and had blonde, shoulder long hair. Tommy was taken aback by the fact that he immediately felt a warm and welcoming atmosphere... even tho he hasn't even said anything. "You must be my new foster kid. Come in." Tommy didn't object and walked into the warm house while the man gave a quick wave to the worker from the orphanage before closing the door.

Then he turned to Tommy, still smiling. "Alright. I think I owe you a real introduction. My name is Philza, but Phil will do just fine. I'll be taking care of you for a while. If everything works out okay, then I'll fully adopt you like I did with my two other sons." Tommy only gave a slow nod. How did this man manage to completely take away his anxiety with smiling at him? "Now how about you? Usually I get a bit information before a kid is brought to me... you sure suprised me with immediately coming over."

"I... well I didn't mean to... I was just starting to unpack my things back at the orphanage when a worker came in and told me that I'll be immediately going to a new home again..." "Really? That's odd. Well it doesn't matter now. You are here and that is completely fine. I'd still like to hear a bit about yourself." Tommy sighed and put his bag down on the floor so he doesn't have to carry it's weight the whole time. "My name is Tommy... and I am sixteen years old. Um... I like playing video games and... there's... nothing more to say about me."

"Alright. Tommy... that's something I can easily remember. Now, I'm sure you want to see your new room and get a little tour of the house. My son's are at school right now, so you will meet them later." Tommy only nodded. Phil proceeded to give him a tour of the entire house and left his new room for last. He learned that his two brothers are called Wilbur and Techno. Weird fucking names. Techno's room is directly across from him, on the left of his room is Wilbur's. At the end of the hallway is Phil's room. Phil insisted that no matter how late it is or what problem he has, Tommy can always come to his room and ask for help or comfort. This was definitely a first for Tommy.

"Alright. This is your room." Phil opened the door and allowed Tommy to go in first. The room was definitely bigger than the old one back at the orphanage. There was a desk under a large window with a PC and two monitors on it. In the corner was a bed with simple sheets. Opposite from the bed was a closet and a mirror. A few shelves were scattered around the room at the walls, just waiting for decorations to be placed on them. Overall the room was simple... much like a guest room or an hotel room.

"I figured you would want to decorate your new room yourself, so I only put the basics in here. We need to go shopping for new clothes and a few decorations first anyways." "It's... it's a nice room. Thanks." Phil's smile only seems to widen at Tommy's words. "I'm glad you like it. And since you mentioned that you had to come over here right away, I'm sure you are hungry as well." Tommy's stomach growled loudly, answering the question for him. He immediately turns red and stammers a quick excuse. Phil just laughes at that and walks downstairs to the kitchen. The teen followed him slowly, cursing himself for making such an embarrassing first impression.

They spent the next hour or so together in the kitchen, preparing a nice lunch for both them and Phil's other two sons, which should be home from school soon. While cooking Phil tried to keep a conversation going, even tho he did most of the talking and Tommy just gave small comments here and there. But Tommy appreciated it still, since he learned a lot about his new foster family.

Philza used to be a traveler before settling down here. He visited countless countries and secluded places, forests and deserts, even the antarctic! Tommy noticed the happy sparkle in his eyes when he talked about his travels. He must have really loved it. He only settled down because he felt the need to have a family more than travelling. It also has something to do with his first and oldest son, Techno. Phil met Techno while traveling in America. He was an orphan who lived on the streets and fought his way through life. When Phil discovered Techno and learned that he had no home or family, he immediately decided to take him in.

This lead to a shit ton of paperwork, since Techno had to be registered as his son officially and some more shit that had to do with visas and all that. When they finally got the approval for everything, he moved back to his old home together with Techno. That's when he stopped traveling and instead began a new chapter of his life, being a father.

He also learned a few things about Techno. Apparently he's not an emotional person. He acts very monotonous, but that doesn't mean he doesn't care about anyone. It's quite the opposite. Techno is extremely protective over Wilbur and even Phil. It probably has something to do with the fact that Phil was the only adult who ever cared about him. "And I'm sure", he later added "that he will be this protective over you as well once you two get to know each other." Apart from that Techno seems to be normal. He loves games as much as Tommy does, he also reads a lot and has a habit of pulling all-nighters if Phil doesn't stop him.

Next was Wilbur, Phil's second oldest. The most noticeable thing about him is his passion for music. He writes songs and plays the guitar. He also used to be in a band, but that was a while ago. Phil took him in about 2 years after Techno. They had already talked about getting a new family member, since Phil absolutely adored kids in general. And after Techno finally fully agreed to accept a new person in the family, Phil took in a foster kid from the nearby orphanage, which happened to be Wilbur. He and Techno are about the same age, so they joke about being unbiological twins.

"I'm sure you will get along well. All three of you seem to have a passion for gaming, so maybe you can bond over playing together? We also have family game nights where we play stuff together in the living room, both board games and video games. Oh! And movie nights too! Since you are new I think you should pick the movie next time we decide to do one. And we also-"

"We're home!", a happy voice called from the front door. "Kitchen!", Phil replied just as cheerful. A few moments later two people wall in through the door. One had curly brown hair and brown eyes, the other pink hair and ruby red eyes. 'What a weird eye color... I've never seen someone with eyes like that before...' "Welcome home boys! Food is almost done." "It smells amazing dad. Like always." Tommy felt oddly out of place in this room. And it got worse by the fact that no one mentioned his arrival yet.

"Is that the new kid?" The pink haired boy asked, who Tommy immediately identified as Techno from the deep and monotone voice that Phil described earlier. "Yep. That's your new little brother." Phil gave Tommy a little nudge towards the two other boys. "How about you three talk for a bit while I finish the food?" "K." Techno immediately turned and walked to the living room. Wilbur followed and so does Tommy, but a bit slower. What if these kids are just total dicks towards him? He couldn't live in a household where everyone exempt the father figure hates him.

"Well. I don't know if dad already told you our names, but I'm Wilbur." The boy with curly brown hair smiled and held out his hand for Tommy. He took it and nodded a bit. "I know... he told me. I'm Tommy." "Alright. Nice to meet you Tommy." "Yeah... same." Wilbur looked over to Techno, who just sat on the couch and watched them. Creepy... "Come on. Be nice to him." "I didn't even said anything." "That's the point." The pink haired sighed and crossed his arms. "Techno. If you don't get on my nerves, we will get along." "O-okay... nice to meet you..." "Whatever..."

An awkward silence filled the living room. No one knew what to say now after that conversation. Techno was the first to get up and leave, grumbling something about homework. "I'm sorry about him... he wasn't that bad when he first met me... even tho he didn't actually want a sibling." "It's fine. I'm used to much worse." Wilbur gave him a sympathetic look. "He will warm up to you over time. Don't worry. How about you tell me a bit about yourself? We should at least try to talk a bit before food is ready."

"There isn't really much to talk about... I like video games... I'm especially into Minecraft at the moment, but I do play other stuff..." "I play Minecraft too! We should play together once I did my homework." "Sure. But I warn you... I'm a pvp pro." "Yeah right. We will see about that." A competitive smirk formed on Wilbur's face and was soon matched by Tommy. And that's when he knew, at least he and Wilbur will get along just fine.

"Boys! Food is ready!"
------------------
Lunch was... interesting. Techno barely said a word, just answering a question when he was directly asked one. Wilbur on the other hand happily talked about school, a new song idea, how Techno almost had a fight with someone named 'Dream' over who can piss the teacher off more... pretty much everything that had happened during the entire day. Phil happily listened to his son and gave small comments here and there, especially when coming to the part about Techno and Dream fighting.

"Was that really necessary Techno? Usually I don't mind your competition with him... but not when it affects your grade." "We didn't actually do it. But we came close. And I'm sure I would have beat that green bastards ass at it too if..." "Language Techno. Not at the table." Wilbur laughed and Tommy had to smile too when seeing Techno's annoyed face. "Green homeless bastard..." "Techno!" Que even more laughter from Wilbur, but confusion from Tommy.

"Homeless?" "He's not actually homeless. He earned that title from Techno when he realized that Dream never built a house on a server he played on for a long time." "He kept telling me he has one, but I don't believe him until I see proof. And that little dirt shack he built doesn't count!" Now even Phil was laughing at Techno's competitive nature. Tommy noticed how Techno had become a lot more talkative when Dream and Techno's rivalry came up, which made him smile a bit. Maybe this is something they can bond over?

"So this Dream guy thinks he's the best?" "Oh he sure does. And he always insists that we do rematches and that he will beat me next time. Like that's ever gonna happen." "Mm... does he play Minecraft? You mentioned a dirt house earlier." "Oh constantly." "Then I want to challenge him! I'm sure I can beat his ass too!" "Tommy. Language." Tommy smirked at Phil. "Alright. I'm sure I can beat his homeless ass too!" Phil looked absolutely devastated by that, while Techno bursts into laughter. HE IS LAUGHING! ACTUALLY LAUGHING!

"You know what Tommy? I like you. I'll get him to duel you later." "Yeesss!" He likes me! I managed to make him like me this fast! Suck it Wilbur!  "You can play all you want later. Just finish food first please." Phil gave them an amused smile. He may not agree with the way how Tommy and Techno bonded, but at least they get along now. It's a start. But he really needs to work on Techno's language... usually the insults don't bother him much... Oh whatever. It's not like Phil doesn't swear as well.
---------------
"Do we have to go shopping? I wanted to duel Dream!" "Yes Tommy. We have to go and you are coming along. I made the mistake of getting clothes and room decorations on my own for Wilbur. He only liked about 15 percent of what I got him. So I'm not doing that again. Now go put your jacket on." The teen only grumbled something under his breath and put his shoes and jacket on. He hates shopping. Too many people that try to annoy you.

Once he was dressed Phil took him to the car. Tommy just silently put his seat belt on and looked out the window during the whole drive, even after Phil tried to start multiple conversations. The older sighs and turns on the radio. "Believe me. I know teens hate going somewhere with their parent. You probably prefer going with Wil or Techno, but I don't trust them with actually getting useful stuff for you. So this has to be done. We can make it as quick as we can." Tommy felt bad for making Phil think he doesn't want to go because it's specifically him and not someone else, but he just couldn't find the words to explain why he really wanted to stay home. It's not really because of Dream or wanting to bond with his new brothers...

When you get thrown out and pushed from one foster family to the next, it just makes you anxious in public. It does something to your head. Tommy just hates being in public in general because of this. He always feels like dozens of judging eyes are watching his every move and look down on him. But again, there is no way he will tell Phil that. He will just think it's weird or he's trying to get away from him. No adult ever understands what he's going through. He glanced over at Phil and noticed the sad glint in his eyes, even while focusing on the road. 'Damit... he's trying his best to be nice Tommy! Stop being a bastard when he's the first in a while to fully try and be a parent!'

"I'm sorry... It's not because I don't like going outside with you. I'm just tired and not really in the mindset of having a new home yet." Phil glanced over at him before looking back at the road. "Hey, its okay bud. I can understand. Today must have been a very stressful day for you." "Yeah... it has..." He sat a little straighter and looked over at Phil. "I know you are trying your best... and... you are the first in a while... thank you." This made the other blonde smile again and Tommy swore he saw tears glistening in the corner of his eye. "Life has been way too hard on you... you have been through a lot and your life hasn't even really begun... it's not fair for you. That's why I'm trying so hard. I want you to have the life you deserve..."

Damn, now Tommy was at the verge of crying. How can a single fucking person be so nice and wholesome? That should be illegal. "Thank you Phil..." "No problem kid." The rest of the drive was spent listening to music and a brief talk about what exactly they should get for Tommy and his new room. And for the first time in Tommy's life... he felt saved and cared about.
