Cold Water |Romanogers|
"that's it! I am retiring," Clint Barton announced as he dropped his tired, dirt covered body on the floor of the Quin Jet. "I hate hydra more then I hate those stupid two ads on youtube."
"Clint you're being overly dramatic," Mumbled Natasha as she sat down, her body was covered in grim and her suit was ripped in many places. She was in clear pain, and if she tried to deny the blood seeping from the side of her head would say otherwise.
"No, I am not being dramatic. I know when I am being dramatic and this was not it! I am dramatic watching a show where there are two characters who totally wanna be together but are too stupid to get together, but right now, this was not dramatic. My complaint is reasonable." Clint said closing his eyes. "oh I can see that stars."
"I'm calling it now, Jarvis can you record time of death?" Tony said as he got out of his IronMan suit. He kicked Clint lightly with his foot. "Welp he is dead."
"Tony," Steve said getting back to business. "Status report, do we have anyone following us?"
"Why are you so worried, Steven?" Thor asked. "there is no one those cowards have the courage to follow us here, It is but impossible." Steve placed his shield next to Natasha who was about to pass out.
"Better be safe than sorry," Steve replied before turning to Natasha, "You got hit pretty bad there," Steve told her. He was always considered for her, ever since they started to date a few months ago.
"Really? I did notice." She said causing Clint to laugh out a painful laugh. Steve just rolled his eyes as her sarcasm before speaking up to Bruce.
"Wanna patch this up, Bruce?" Bruce nodded and went to get all of the emergency supply kits. "Play nice would you?" Steve asked looking down at her.
"Oh honey you know I will," She replied in an annoyed tone. Steve walked over to Tony to check on things before he would sit and relax the rest of the way home.
"Well as we fly over the Arctic ocean you can see literally no sign of life besides our own," Tony said. "Don't worry Cap I think we are safe, at least for-" Before he could finish his sentence the jet was hit by something causing an alarm to go off. "We lost an engine," Tony muttered. Natasha and Clint stood up and Clint went up to help piolet the plane with the guys. Natasha went toward the cargo opening to see if she could see anything.
The men in the front were arguing all trying to keep the plane from hitting the sea. Natasha, as the wind blew her hair every single way, saw something coming straight for them.
"Guys! Turn the plane!" She yelled, Clint luckily heard and managed to turn the plane, but not fast enough as the missile hit the side of the plane Natasha was on. The plane was not steady but the boys didn't miss the scream causing them all to turn around, none fast enough to catch the red-haired spy as she fell into the Atlantic ocean.
"NAT!" Steve yelled as he looked over the edge, there was no sign of her and the waters were moving fast. Thor went flying to stop the consent missiles flying at them. "Tony get her!" He yelled.
"Jarvis locate her body," Tony said and Jarvis started scanning the waters.
"Ms. Romanoff is currently 300ft below the surface, the impact will destroy your suit." He informed Tony, Steve heard this and he looked helpless. Jarvis shined a light to where exactly her body was. "With her injuries, she lost consciousness when she hit the water.
As Clint came and started to argue with Tony about Natasha Steve looked down at the waters. He started to get visions of when he went under the ice. He was scared of these waters. But he couldn't lose Natasha. Not like this. He took a deep breath before letting out a short pray. He stepped away from the ledge walking toward the cockpit. Before anyone could say anything they saw Steve running and jumping out of the plane.
Steve's face hit the water first and the sudden memories started to pull him into a trance. He, however, ignored them in order to find Natasha. He could feel the numbing start to take over his body as he swam further and further down. He didn't care though, he only had Natasha on his mind.
he was nearly three hundred feet below when Natasha's fiery red hair came into view. He quickly swam toward her and wrapped his arms around her small waist. He looked up and began going as fast as he could to the surface of the water. The moment he resurfaced Tony was there to pull him out of the water.
Steve landed on the jet, Natasha in his arms. She was turning blue, and her breath was slow. Steve immediately began CPR. He had tears running down his face as he performed CPR on her. Her lips were frozen and her breathing was slowing down.
After about twenty moments Tony knew that they were not fast enough. He tried to get Steve to stop but she wouldn't. He continued and just as Tony was about to make him stop Natasha started coughing up water. Everyone was shocked but Steve who didn't give up.
She immediately closed her eyes but was breathing once again, and right now that was enough to calm Steve's heart. Bruce immediately began scanning her body and determining she had hypothermia.
"We have to get her warm. Until we can get her to the tower we need to make sure she stays warm or her body could..." He dare not say it. Tony turned up to heat on the plane and Steve pulled her cold body closer to his, while Clint got a blanket for them.
"You're gonna be okay." He whispered, but the others weren't sure if he was telling that to her, or to himself.
Once they got back to the tower, Natasha was taken from Steve's arms, (which was a very tricky occurrence because Steve didn't want to let her go) and into emergency care. Steve watched as doctors were trying to determine her state. Her heart rate was low and dropping fast. Steve was not okay.
"Someone wanna tell me why the hell my best agent is practically dying?" Fury came in, anger was evident in his voice. Natasha was like his daughter.
"We were attacked sir, guess Hydra was not too happy that we burned down their base. Don't worry Thor handled it," Clint muttered from his seat. He too was worried for Natasha's well being.
"Don't worry? It's a little too late for that. Your mission was supposed to be simple, but instead, I come back to see that you are all bleeding, barely able to stand, and my best agent is in the middle of surgery." She was getting bullets pulled out of her stomach in hopes it would help keep her alive.
"Sir, with all due respect," Steve said, his voice was barely heard. "It's been a long day, we need to rest, and more importantly we need to know that she is gonna be okay, so can we debrief another time?" Steve asked, no pleaded with Fury. Fury finally agreed to back off, just in time for the doctor to come in.
"How is she?" Clint asked before anyone had the chance to breathe.
"Stable, her body temperature dropped a lot, we are keeping her heated. She is resting but she will be fine." There was a sigh of relief among the team. Steve couldn't be happier.
"Can we see her?" Steve asked. The doctor nodded and Steve sadly, yet hopeful walked into the room. The others let Steve go in alone, this has probably taken the biggest tole on him. Steve went to her bedside and gently took her hand in his. It was still cold, but warmer than before.
"Hey, my love," She hated when he called her that, "You have to wake up soon. I don't know how long this team can last without you." He sighed. "I don't know how long I can last without you. I know you hate it when I say this but I love you more than anything in the world. I know you feel like you don't deserve my love, even though you love me. However, I feel as if I don't deserve yours. Nat, I feel so selfish for keeping you to myself, however, I just don't know if I can live without you. And as long as you will have me, I want to be with you. I know this isn't the best place, but Natasha Romanoff I need you to wake up so I can ask you a very important question." There was silence as Steve put his face on her hand. He needed to feel her.
"Continue lover boy, you're doing very well." Steve's heart almost stopped as he looked up. Natasha, with her eyes, barely opened, was looking at him with a smirk. Immediately he went to her connecting his lips to hers.
"I thought I lost you," He whispered.
"You can't get rid of me that easily Rogers." She smirked and Steve couldn't help but smile at her. "Now finish your speech."
"Nat I-" he was not embarrassed.
"Hey, it's just you and me lover boy. Speak your mind." She said with a smile that made him fall in love with her all over again. Steve nodded his head and decided to get right to the point,
"Natasha Romanoff, you're the love of my life. No one can compare to you. I can't see me with anyone but you. I wanna be the one to cry in the hospital because you just saved someone's life. I wanna be the one you yell at for being hopelessly romantic. I want to be with you. Will you marry me?"
Natasha couldn't stop the smile that was on her face as she nodded her head. She knew she wanted this. She knew this is what was supposed to happen. And for once in her life, she was ready for the future.
"Yes, Steve I will marry you,"
