treacherous | Ikaris

Y/n sat on the roof of the Domo, staring out at the sky and wishing more than anything that her and her family could be back home, wherever that may be.

Her peaceful thoughts were disrupted by Ikaris, who sat down next to her.

"I figured you'd be up here," he sighed, his eyes going from Y/n's to the sky that she gazed at.

"This used to be our favorite spot, remember? When things were better and then things were somewhat normal?" Y/n sighed, leaning her head on Ikaris' shoulder.

"Listen, I have come up here to confess something to you and I'm going to say it before I cower away and don't say anything at all..." Ikaris began. Y/n's eyes found his and she looked at him so innocently, so blissfully unaware.

"When the time comes, I am not going to help the others to stop the emergence. I have been asked to stop at nothing so the emergence occurs. I have been sworn to follow Arishem and I won't stop, even if what we thought was true was a lie," Ikaris began.

"Ikaris, I... I don't understand. Are you saying that you're going to try and stop us?" Y/n asked, her eyes widen and gloss over, tears threatening to spill.

"Yes," Ikaris nodded, averting his gaze so he no longer had to face his betrayal head on. "You're a liar, Ikaris. What about me? What about everything we've gone through together? You're telling me you'd rather betray your family for someone who's lied to us all than to be brave and join the people who have loved you, really loved you?" Y/n spat, standing up quickly.

"I've known. I've known since Babylon," Ikaris admit. A cry of despair left Y/n's lips. "I've got to go tell the others, you know that right? I've got to help them stop you,"

"And I'm afraid I can't let you do that, Y/n. So, please, for both our sakes, just join me. Join me so I don't have to kill you," Ikaris threatened, standing up and towering over Y/n's form.

Y/n didn't cower away. She only squared her shoulders and stepped closer to Ikaris. "No. So, go ahead. Kill me," she seethed.

Ikaris' eyes began to glow gold as tears spilled out of them at the same time. He tried, he did. But he couldn't bring himself to do it.

"That's what I thought," Y/n croaked, beginning to walk back to the Domo to inform the others.

She was about to step inside when she turned back to Ikaris, "This has been the hardest decision I've ever had to make. I love you, Ikaris. In all of my lifetimes I have loved you, and for all of the other lifetimes we may live together, I will love you. Even then," Y/n said softly.

Ikaris thought that even with her heartbroken expression, she was still the most beautiful woman who would ever live.
