Little Sam
Takes place after the end of Runaway
Sorry for the update i had to change something/cut something out.
Sam was fourteen years old now. He want as big as the other boys his age and was still called 'Little Sam' but he never let that get to him. And Sam never hung around the older boys because they were the ones always getting into trouble. So instead he hangs around the Middleton children, his best friends! Danny, David, and Angelica.
The twins we're only eight, their birthdays just a few weeks ago, while Angelica was only six. Together the three of them would have adventures and play in the mud and the fields. Once in the summer, Uncle Sparklez took them on a trip to the Caribbean. It was the first time Sam saw a dolphin!
But now it was February, a quite warm one at that. It was almost strange, sure he still had to wear his coat but he wasn't smothered. And on this particular February day, things were about to change forever.
"I win!" Danny cheered.
"No I win! The ball is clearly closer!" David argued.
"You're just mad because I'm the best at this game!" Danny shot back.
"Guys, you both did great! But," Sam started, catching the boys attention. He threw a ball and it landed next to the stick they planted in the dirt. "I win."
"No fair!" The boys shouted in unison.
The twins looked like a mini Dans, both having short brown hair and brown eyes. It was almost impossible to tell the two apart.
"You did great Sam!" Said a young feminine voice. It was Angelica, who sat on a log watching her brothers play. She was different than her brothers in many ways. Her personality was a big one along with her looks. She has dirty blond hair and blue eyes unlike her siblings.
Sam smiled, "Aw. Thank you Angie!" Only Sam and a few of her close friends called Angelica 'Angie'. It was like a privilege almost.
The twins facepalmed at the same time. Almost everything they did was in unison, which makes you wonder how close the twins are.
Danny refusing to accept defeat suggested, "How about we go explore the woods!"
"But Danny, mom will get mad at us. And if we aren't home by the time Dad gets back from the mine, we'll be in big trouble. I don't wanna miss dinner!" David cried.
"Yeah Danny, mom doesn't like us going into the forest without a big person." Angie said, standing up from the log.
"Well Sam is a big person, right Sam?" Danny asked.
"M-me? Why me," Sam stuttered, "I'm not a big person! I-I'm just a kid!"
"Then I guess that's why they call you 'Little Sam'," Danny mocked.
Sam was always taught to ignore insults, and he always did. But as he was about to say his come back, Danny was already running into the woods. "Danny wait!" Sam called, running in after him.
"Wait for me!" Angie yelled, following Sam. And David just let out a long sigh before running in after his sister.
The woods weren't really woods at first. A lot of the trees had been cut down for homes. But the longer they ran the faster they got lost. Trees reached towards the sky and their leaves blocking the sun making it colder. Sam stopped to look around and see where Danny went, but was then toppled over by the other two Middleton kids.
"I knew this was a bad idea." David grumbled.
"Get off me, David! I'm being squished!" Angie yelled.
"Well at least you aren't being squashed into the ground! Get up!" Sam complained.
When the kids got up they looked around. They were lost. There was no denying that fact, and who knows what could be out there. The land wasn't completely tamed, there's still bears and wolves, maybe even bobcats. And if they lost Danny, Sam wouldn't be able to forgive himself.
"Danny! Where are you! Come on this isn't funny!" Sam shouted.
"Come on, Dad's going to be home any minute. We gotta go!" David called.
"I'm not about to miss dinner because of you Danny!" Angie threatened.
But there was only the winds rustling the leaves. No Danny anywhere.
The three wandered the woods trying to find the missing boy only to get more lost. Of course, they're kids. But then in a little opening, there he was. Danny sitting on the ground like nothing happened.
"Danny! Do you have any idea what you just put us through?" Sam shouted.
"Look at the time, it's almost dark. We gotta get home!" David added.
But Danny just kept staring at the trail of ants that was walking by. Angie was about to say something but instead sat down next to Danny and watched the ants.
It was pretty ant-tastic!
David sighed while Sam picked up Angie and with his other hand, dragged Danny to his feet forcing him to snap back into reality.
"Hmm?" He said.
"Come on let's go, come on Angelica. Mom's probably waiting for us." David said, as he started to retrace his steps.
Sam put Angie down and she followed her brothers through the woods, leaving Sam alone. He didn't really mind being alone, he liked having some alone time. But being alone when it was almost dark freaked him out a little. He jumped at the slightest sound, like the leaves of a bush rustling in the wind. But when he realized it wasn't the wind, he was in big trouble.
When something emerged from the bush, Sam let out an extremely girly scream and fell backwards. Only to be greated not by a wild animal, but a hand which he took and helped himself up.
After shaking the leaves off him he saw that the person who scared him half to death was just a girl, maybe about his age. She was almost a blond and her hair was short, face covered in freckles, she wore a turquoise jacket which glittered in whatever sun rays were left.
Sam couldn't say anything, he just stared at her. At the least, he was very conflicted inside. Should he yell at her? No that would be rude he thought. Should he introduce himself? To someone who I thought was an animal? No way!
But as if it were a gift from God she broke the silence. "You scream like a girl," she said trying to hold back her laugh.
"That's not funny! I thought you were a wolf or something!" Sam barked.
"Wolves? Around here? They live up towards the mountains, which isn't that far from here actually. The only critters I see around here are squirrels and birds. If I'm lucky I'll see a doe!" She explained.
"Yeah well... you still scared me. You shouldn't do that." Sam argued.
"Sorry," she said, "I'm Dawson. What's your name?"
"Samuel, but everyone calls me Sam. Are you new? I haven't seen you around here before." Sam asked.
Dawson smiled. "I've lived here for awhile. I just share a hut with my friend Petra, you know the hunter. I just get too nervous to go into town, so I just stay here in the woods and explore with Petra... and my dog."
Sam's eyes lit up at the word 'dog', after all he loved dogs. "Dog? I love dogs! They're so cute!" He squealed sounding like a girl again.
"Are you sure you aren't a girl Sam?" Dawson joked.
"Are you sure you aren't a guy Dawson?" Sam joked back.
The two shared a laugh before being interrupted by a voice in the distance calling Dawson's name. "That's Petra. I probably have to sort the pelts again or something. It was nice meeting you Sam!" She said before running back off into the woods. Once again leaving Sam by himself in the woods.

Luckily, Sam found his way home last night but was ground the minute he asked in the door. But was completely unaware of the snow that fell that night, and was greated the next morning with a fresh blanket of snow.
Wasting no time he was out the door and playing in the snow with his friends. They jumped around for a bit before Sam wanted to go back in the forest. Wanting to find out more about his new friend.
"No way! We're not going back in there!" David argued.
"Well too bad, Mr. Wanker! Because you're it!" Danny said, tapping his brothers shoulder and running into the woods.
Before Angie (who had almost no say in all of this) could object Sam picked her up and ran into the woods. And together the four had a good time, laughing and playing like kids should do. And before you know it they was in the same spot as they were the day before.
David was trying to tackle Danny, while Angie jumped out of Sam's arms and landed on four legs like a cat. Sam looked around to see if Dawson would come back, but nothing. Alright, maybe she's still sleeping. It's still early after all.
So the friends started playing games to pass the time, for Sam kept promising something was going to happen very soon. So the kids played follow the cat, made snow angels, and eventually, that leads to a snowball fight. And when a similar bush started to rustle the snow off it's leaves Sam knew who it was.
So he chucked a snowball in its direction only to be greeted by a, "Hey!" It was Dawson and her little beagle who they will soon find out, it's name is turtle. And that was the start of a war, the snow war!
There was snowballs flying everywhere! No man or dog was left unscared! It was Middleton children again Sam, Dawson, and turtle the beagle. It was a great war, but there were losses on both sides. In the end, there was no winner. Because everyone couldn't stop petting the dog.
Towards the day's end, when snowmen were built and wars have ended, things were finally peaceful. David, Danny, and Sam all fell asleep in a pile like bears. While Dawson and Angie sat to the side in silence.
Of course, it was awkward until Angie spoke up. "I think you and Sam would be a cute pair," Angie said.
(Note: I'm not sorry)
At first, Dawson felt her face heat up and her eyes shifted to the little girl who had a smug look on her face. She stammered for a second, trying to find the right thing to say and trying to get all the ideas in her head flowing out of her mouth at once.
"Don't worry. I don't think he'll try courting you until he's taller than you. Which will probably be by next spring." Angie added.
Dawson without any words to argue that, got up and started to walk away. Too flustered to say anything. Turtle running after her.
When Sam and the boys woke up they asked where Dawson was. To which Angie replied with a smile and a devious look in her eyes.
David sighed, "Angelica. Stop chasing away all of Sam's female friends."
"It's not like I try to! They just can't accept that Sam is the perfect match for them!" Angie argued.
Hearing Angie say that made Sam blush in embarrassment. "We should g-get back to the town g-guys." He stammered.
And as the four friends walked back to the village only one thought was in Sam's head. Why did Angie chase away the one girl I DID like?
