*Sonar*
You must be thinking, who the heck is Sonar?
Welllllll I'm glad you asked!
Allow me to explain (unless you already know who she is already :)
First, let me get this straight: SHE IS NOT MY OC
She is a character that was going to be in MCSM Season Two but got cut out due to the budget and cast amount.
I did not create this character, however, I have given her my own personal looks, somewhat of a personality, and (kinda tragic) backstory.
I just wanted to write about her, so here you go! If you don't wanna read, don't read.
Coward.
Get up.
Weakling.
I said, get up.
Why do you think you matter? All you are is a failure.
Wake. Up!
A young girl bolted up from her squeaky bed, covered in sweat, dark brown hair tossed like a salad, messy and spread. She was breathing heavily, her heart racing as those same words stuck themselves in her mind, taunting her, teasing her. Her lapis blue eyes blinked a few times, trying to wash away the tiredness but failing nevertheless.
"When I tell you to get up, you get up. Got it?!" A voice asked harshly, making her snap her head towards him. She immediately nodded and gulped down a wave of fear.
The man in front of her scoffed, taking out a book from his inventory. He had light skin, a dark colored uniform, and something gold covering one of his eyes. She always wondered how he got it.
"We've got a busy day today." He said, a bit calmer now. "Some more recruits, and I need you to repair the wall in the east wing."
"O-of course, Warden, sir." She replied shakily, grabbing her glasses from the little side table next to her and putting them on. Her vision was suddenly clearer.
"Ten minutes. Meet me in my office." The Warden said tightly, closing the book and putting it back in his inventory. "Be ready, Sonar."
With that he closed the door harshly, leaving the little girl stranded with her own thoughts, and the muffled shouts heard behind the walls of the Sunshine Institute.
*'*'*
The uniform she was forced to wear was rough and scratchy, but she never complained. She never did.
She never said a word when she was forced to escort the baddest of prisoners, clean the filthiest of areas. She never fought back when she was told to take food away from the starving innocents dressed in orange. Even though all her actions made her heart break, she never complained. Never.
It would only make things worse.
And besides, she was in hell anyway. It's not like things were going to just magically get better.
Sonar held a clipboard in her hand, a paper clamped tight onto it, showing the names of the of the current prisoners and the new recruits that the Warden had given her. Her so-called mentor.
A golem trailed behind her, ready to assist her and make sure she was doing her job. By Notch, they used to scare the heck out of her. Their growls and piercing glowing eyes. But she was used to them by now.
She brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, which was tied in a messy ponytail in the back, and bit her lip, reading the names on the paper.
Let's see, we got three more prisoners-er, recruits. Says here they tried to trick the Admin-just the usual then.
Everyone here had done something to basically piss the Admin off. She hated him with her whole heart. Especially after-nevermind.
Sonar gestured for two of the golems to follow her, and they immediately obeyed, stepping up slowly behind her.
"When they come in I want you two to grab them, got it? You can punch them if they cause trouble, but otherwise, that's it. I don't want anyone killed on my watch." She exclaimed, adding an edge to her voice to make her sound mean. Of course, she never meant her words. They were just for appearance.
The golems just grunted in response.
Sonar had learned things over many years at the Institute. You obey, you rise. You resist, you fall. You act strong, people won't mess with you. That is, if you show no weakness.
And for her, it was so easy to sound strong, despite the fact she was a coward. And she punished herself for it. By working, by living in this hellhole. The thought of killing herself had struck many times, but she knew she needed to pay for her mistakes. For all the things she'd done...she was a coward.
She shook off the chill running up her spine and adjusted her glasses, just as three people in prison uniforms came running towards them, more golems chasing after. They froze as they saw that their path was blocked.
"You know what to do." She exclaimed, voice completely monotone as she gestured towards the new prisoners. The golems behind her reached forward and grabbed them, ignoring their painful cries and shouts.
Was it bad she was already used to the screaming?
There were two males and one female, struggling under the golem's iron grip. She watched emotionlessly as the tired, and eventually stopped.
"Are you done?" She asked, frowning and raising an eyebrow. "We've got somewhere to be."
The female looked at her like she was crazy. She had bright pink short hair and hazel eyes, face twisted into a scowl.
"'Somewhere to be?' We've been taken against our will! You need to let us go." She cried, kicking her legs helplessly at the golem.
"Come on, kid. You gotta help us!" One of the males shouted at her. She grimaced as she heard the word 'kid.' Her gaze turned hard, though her heart ached.
"I don't have to do anything of the sort." She replied, checking the clipboard. "Now, let's see. Jackie Mane and Thomas Mane-oh, you're siblings? That'll make good leverage."
Sonar took out a pen and checked off their names, writing some notes along the margin.
"And we have-" her heart stopped at the name, "-an Arin Shur."
She looked at them, and then at Arin. He had blue eyes and dark messy hair. She shook her head and pushed away the memories. They looked nothing alike, though the name would still haunt her.
"Alright, it's time to head to the Mush-room." She exclaimed, putting away her clipboard after checking the schedule. "I can let you down, if you don't try to run again."
She gave them a hard glare, putting a hand on her hip.
"And I can assure you, if you do try to run. Things can get real messy." She said, gesturing for the golems to let go, but to trail behind.
The girl, Jackie, ran forward and grabbed her arm, looking at her with pleading eyes. Sonar flinched.
"Please, help us. Didn't you ever have friends? Family? I swear, we were just trying to protect them-" the golem grabbed her from behind, making her shriek. She could feel Jackie forced to release the grip on her arm as memories started to flash back.
Sonar gritted her teeth, blinking rapidly as to hold back tears. She clenched her fists. The look in her eyes, it was so...familiar. Desperation. A pleading, a need. A need in which she couldn't fulfil.
"I-" she started, and then turned to the golem, in which the two males were trying to pry her out of its grip. "Let her go."
The golem obeyed, hesitantly, throwing her on the ground with a thump. They looked at her, but she couldn't give them anything. That only made the ache in her heart bigger.
"Look-" Arin said, and then stopped.
"Sonar." She replied bluntly, keeping her voice from shaking.
"Sonar." He repeated, and she was surprised by the tone of his voice. "Please. Please help us. If you've ever been in situation like ours, please."
She blinked, an unknown feeling churning sickly in her stomach. At the corner of her eye she could see the Warden, glaring at her, watching what she would do.
Sonar inhaled and exhaled, pushing her glasses up just a bit. Then she turned back to look at the desperate trio. With a heavy heart, she forced the words out of her mouth.
"I'm sorry."
"What-?"
She gave a small nod, and the golems reacted within a second. They quickly punched the three of them, making them gasp in surprise and fall to the ground unconscious.
The Warden gave her a nod of approval before turning back into his office.
Sonar stared at the bodies on the ground, the golems waiting for an order, and her hands, always so cold, flashes of blood on them with each blink. She pushed the feeling down.
It was just another sin to add to the list.

Years later

Sonar pushed her clipboard to her side and headed towards the Mush-room, ready for her daily checkup on the prisoners. She made her way through the familiar halls and clicked her feet on the floor, the rhythm getting stuck in her head.
Click, clack, click, clack-
"Sonar!" A voice shouted, and she turned, gaze hard. A fellow assistant. She had hair tied up in a bun and almost the same outfit.
"What is it? I've got somewhere to be." She replied firmly, staring at the other girl.
"It's the Warden. He needs you. Something important he says."
She felt a prick of fear run through her. He almost never called other out of duty. Did she do something wrong? Was she going to be punished? She quickly pushed down that fear and nodded, gesturing for the other assistant to take her place as she broke into a run to the Warden's office.
*'*'*'*
Sonar pulled herself to halt as she reached the office entrance and opened the door with a flick of a lever. Then she headed inside, clipboard clutched tightly in her hands.
"Warden, sir? Did you call for me?"
The Warden was pacing back and forth when she walked in, like her was nervous of some sort. He stopped once he spotted her.
"Oh, yes. Sonar." He walked out from behind his desk to face her. "There's something important. New recruits."
She felt herself calm down.
"New recruits? But that isn't anything new, isn't it?" The words were out of her mouth before she could stop them. He glared at her, making her force herself not to flinch.
"No no no, you don't understand. The recruits that are coming here, the Admin came down to personally talk to me about them. They've really pissed him off." His expression turned bitter as he grabbed the book on his desk.
Sonar felt surprised. The Admin, coming here? Highly unlikely.
Unless the Warden was telling the truth, that would actually be something exciting.
"Alright, who are they?"
He bit his lip and began to read the names from his book.
"Heroes. Fighters. Friends of them." She watched as he began pacing back and forth again. "There names are as follows; Nurm, Jack, Petra, Radar, and his personal 'favorite...' Jesse."
Eee I know this is different but I don't really care and I'm really starting to love this character.
Sorry I've been inactive here. I've just been having a huge case of writers' block. Like seriously. Whenever I go here I spend a good 5-15 minutes thinking and then going back to work on something else because I get stumped.
I'm working on a few right now though, very slowly as I get ideas.
I'll probably do Fred x Binta next but idk.
Okay, I should go now. Baiii
