Scene: Strong Words, Bitter Actions (Special)

HOLY HECK-

HOW?!

HOW THE HECK DID THIS REACH 1K SO FAST?!

ONE THOUSAND READS PEOPLE! ONE. FREAKING. THOUSAND.

I AM LITERALLY SCREAMING RN.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! UGH YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW HAPPY I AM

Didn't I just say thanks for 500? Like seriously. Wow.

Thank you all again, I really enjoy writing these, and seeing all your comments and votes. They really make my day, like a thousand times better (get it? Haha)

It took me a while to write this actually, and when I saw the 1K on this book I really wanted to finish it, so here it is! It's about 3000 words, my longest one yet. I'll call this one special.

Anyway, as always, enjoy!!

Jesse fought the urge to scream as the Admin moved to the side, causing her to lurch along with him. She ignored the fear and panic in her chest and continued to climb up the Admin's statue-like body.

"Where are you?" The Admin hissed, moving around in circles like a dog chasing its tail.

"Oh for the love of Notch-" Jesse groaned, swaying with his movements, making the climb a hell of a lot harder than it was meant to be. But life was like that, it took all the easy things, and then threw the rest in your face.

She was so close, sweat beading down her forehead. Just a little more, a little more-

The giant prismarine colossus moved again, but this time, forward.

"Hey!" Jesse shouted, looking down where the Admin had stepped. She froze as she realized-Reuben's memorial. His foot was right next to it, so close that he could touch it if he moved another inch.

"Oh," said the Admin, a smirk growing on his face and in his voice. "Does this bother you?"

Fear covered her like a thick blanket as she held on, unable to breathe. He wouldn't, he won't-

"It would be such a shame..." The Admin lifted his foot up in the air.

"No- no, no, no-!"

"If I just..." He moved it over the memorial so it was covered in darkness.

"STOP!" Jesse screamed, eyes wide like saucers, panic flooding through her body.

BOOM

The Admin slammed his foot down onto Reuben's memorial, smoke and dust particles creating a cover up that quickly disappeared. He moved his foot to look at the damage.

"Whoopsie." Said the Admin, and then he began to laugh.

Jesse's heart stopped. Everything began to slow and blur. Her emerald eyes blinked, and then blinked again, not noticing tears running down her face. She shook her head, because she was just seeing a hallucination, an image in her head. But it was still there, no matter how much she blinked and shook her head, that picture was still there.

The memorial, made out of andesite, stone, gravel, and quartz, was now crushed. Destroyed. The small building had been turned into rubble. It wasn't much, but it meant everything, more than words could describe.

One poster stood, part of it broken and the picture swaying a bit from the breeze.

Reuben.

Something burned inside her, part of her snapped. Fear and panic was replaced with anger and loathing.

"I'm going to kick your ass straight to hell." Jesse gritted her teeth, climbing up the Admin, a new sense of strength and adrenaline pulsing through her veins.

"Ooh~" he said, a mocking tone in his voice. "Did I get the champion angry?"

Jesse had reached the top, the pattern and his weak spot.

She took the hand with the gauntlet, and raised her fist, the pattern glowing on and off like a heartbeat.

"This is for you Reuben."

Jesse didn't hesitate, bringing down her fist with a WHAM!

The prismarine colossus shuddered, stopped, and then fell to the ground with a thud. Unfortunately, bringing Jesse down with him. She cried out as she fell to the ground, pain slapping her like bricks.

"Good move, champion..." were his last words, before he exploded, into a cloud of prismarine that rained down on Beacontown like sparkles. Like fireworks and explosions in the sky.

Like the demolishing of the memorial, raining down pink and gray.

*****************************

Jesse ignored the pain in her body, the bruises that bloomed purple. She ignored the cuts and the blood spilling out of them. She ignored the feeling of exhaustion tugging at her like a child pulling at its mother.

She just kept walking, step after step, over the rubble and cracks. Past the half destroyed buildings and the people trying to fix them.

Then she stopped.

Jesse looked at what was in front of her.

It was all destroyed, crumbled into dust. She bent down and picked up the last remaining broken poster. Reuben smiled at her with bright eyes.

She smiled back sadly, more tears escaping her eyes.

She began to cry, and then sob, putting her hands in her face. And then it got mixed with bitter laughter.

"Reuben-" she choked on her words. "Reuben I'm-I'm so sorry-"

Jesse fell down on her knees and let the tears flow.

"I'm so-so pathetic. I couldn't save you then-" she looked back up at the crushed memorial. "And I can't even save you now."

Pictures flashed in her head, images that she didn't want to see.

"Jesse?" Someone asked. She didn't even bother to turn around. "Jesse!"

Then there were arms around her, hugging her, wrapping her in an embrace.

"Jesse-Jesse we're so sorry..." Petra exclaimed, sorrow clear in her voice.

"It's okay, we're here." Lukas replied, his voice soothing.

Jesse hugged them, wrapped her arms around them, feeling lucky to have friends such as these.

"Aww, is little Jesse crying?"

*********************************

The three of them turned.

A figure stood, arms folded across his chest and a smirk forming on his face. His hair and parts of his body consisted of red and dark gray, along with bits of glowing yellow.

Petra and Lukas stood beside Jesse as they glared at him.

"Who the hell are you?" Petra asked, folding her arms as well, a prick of anger in her voice.

"I guess I shouldn't be surprised you don't recognize me." The man said, walking a bit closer. He gestured to Reuben's memorial. "I am the one who did this after all~"

Jesse eyes widened as she realized, leaping forward and reaching for the Admin, anger surging through her body.

"Jesse!" Lukas and Petra cried, grabbing onto her arms to prevent her from attacking. She struggled against their grip.

"Let-me-go!" She cried, the Admin laughing. "I'm going to rip your freaking throat out!"

"Look at you," The Admin exclaimed, glaring at Lukas and Petra trying to hold Jesse back. "So strong and pathetic at the same time.

"You care so much for your friends, other people, and yet all they do is hold you back. Like those two for instance.

"All they do is hold you back, make you weak. These so called 'friends' are merely annoyances, obstacles in your way. You are stronger than them Jesse, you are better. Don't let them distract you from what you're truly capable of, what your real destiny is."

Jesse stopped struggling, his words ringing in her head like a bell.

"Okay, that's it." Petra said angrily, pulling out Miss Butter. "You need to shut up. Now. No one talks to me or my friends like that."

Then she charged, despite Lukas' warnings and shouts. She held her sword and brought it down on the Admin, who was grinning. He dodged, sidestepping to the left. Petra slashed again, right in the stomach. He dodged once again, stepping backwards, quick like lightning.

Miss Butter flashed as the redhead struck, again and again. The Admin kept dodging, and Lukas was trying to talk to Jesse, as she stood, numbness taking over.

"Jesse, listen to me. I'm going to go help Petra alright?"

She didn't answer. Lukas pulled out his bow and arrows.

"Don't listen to him Jesse. You and only you, can define who you are."

Lukas went to help Petra, Jesse still in a daze.

The blonde set an arrow, aimed, and fired. It moved as a flash of silver, right about to hit the Admin's head-

He caught it, in his right hand, an inch before it hit his face. Lukas' jaw dropped.

"Two against one, is it? That hardly seems fair." The Admin grinned.

"'Fair' my ass." Petra growled, and then continued to slash with her sword. Lukas continued to shoot.

It seemed an endless cycle. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Petra and Lukas kept attacking, but the Admin kept on dodging as if he was air, that evil smirk on his face.

It was only until Lukas ran out of arrows, and Petra's movements became slower from the continuous fighting, was when the Admin took the upper hand.

He waited for Petra to slash and then grabbed her wrist, making her drop her sword. He set a firm grip and threw her against a wall with a sickening thud. She slumped to the ground, unconscious.

"Petra!" Lukas cried and went to help his friend. The Admin picked him up by the neck, Lukas gasping as he clawed at his hands to let go of his throat.

"What a disappointment." The Admin replied, monotone. "You are just pathetic excuses for beings anyway-"

"Let. Him. Go."

The Admin turned to see Jesse, enchanted diamond sword in her hand, green eyes burning with rage. Her dark hair was messy, her armor dented and cracked. Cuts and bruises covered her body with red and purple. She stood, determined, mind set and choice made.

"There's the Jesse I was looking for." The Admin smiled, letting go of Lukas as he crumpled to the floor.

"You mess with me, that's one thing." She snarled, the sword cool in her hands. "But you mess with my friends, that's a one-way ticket to your worst nightmare."

He laughed, his yellow eyes glowing.

"Then show me, champion. Show me my worst nightmare."

"Gladly."

Jesse charged.

************************

It seemed to go on forever, the clanging of swords, the words spat from each other's mouths, the determination showing in each strike.

"I have to admit I'm quite surprised," The Admin said, blocking Jesse's hit and aiming for her chest. She dodged and parried with another hit. "I didn't expect you to last this long."

Their swords clanged again, diamond against prismarine, sending sparks in the air.

Jesse was surprised as well, pangs of exhaustion crashed over her like waves, but anger kept her strong. Those pictures on her head. Her friends' reassuring words. Memories. They made her strong.

"Expect the unexpected." Jesse replied back, quickly dodging another hit and then bringing her sword right across the Admin's face. A cry escaped his lips as he groaned, clutching his face in pain, the sword falling out of his hands.

She took the opportunity, punching him in the chest and kicking him where the sun never shines.

He fell to the floor, and she put her foot on his chest and pressed hard. Then she took the sword and put it against his throat.

"I win." Jesse said bluntly, heart beating fast from the adrenaline.

The Admin's face was cracked, like a robot or statue. A sickly black liquid came pouring down.

It became scarier as the Admin looked her in the eyes, began to cough, and then laugh. Screeching like a maniac. Jesse pressed the sword closer to his throat.

"Shut it."

"You win, you win." He replied, more of the black liquid smearing on his face. "You passed the test."

She looked at him with confusion.

"What?"

"You passed the test."

"Oh goodie goodie, I got an A+." Jesse said sarcastically. "Do I get extra credit?"

"What an attitude." The Admin said, rolling his eyes. "It means you get to join me."

"I'd rather die."

"Strong words."

"Don't think I don't mean it."

He chuckled, a raspy sound coming out of his throat.

"Jesse, Jesse, Jesse...you are capable of so much more than this. This-distraction, this-pathetic excuse, this-world of lowly beings who don't know the meaning of power.

"You join me, you get power. You get fame, glory. You get to become the strongest being in the universe."

"Tempting, how about I just kill you now?"

"You can try, but you know you can't, not without-" The Admin, froze, his face struck with panic.

"Oh, you mean this?" Jesse asked innocently, a bitter smirk on her face. In her other hand, held a prismarine pendant with a intricate design on it. It was about the size of a hand.

"What-how did you-?" He stuttered, trying to helplessly reach for the pendant that was far out of reach. Her foot was still on his chest as she pressed harder, making him stay still on the ground.

"I found it after your prismarine colossus exploded all over my town. Kinda pretty, isn't it?" She said, admiring the pendant. "It would be such as shame if something happened to it."

Jesse mocked his words, a taunting look on her face, as he looked up at her with desperation and cruelty.

"You won't-you can't. Think of all the power you could have Jesse, you could become immortal, like me. You could live forever. You can-"

"Don't give me that bullcrap." Jesse snapped, the pendant dangling in the air, sparkling in the sunlight. "I meant what I said; I'd rather die than join you."

"Fine. You can't destroy it anyway, it's made of enchanted prismarine. Only I can destroy it, and I won't, no matter how much you want me to."

His eyes gleamed yellow, as he tried to grin, but failing because of the condition of his face.

"Only you can destroy it, hmm?" Jesse asked, looking at the pendant once again. "If only someone left something that could help me with that. Oh wait," she said in a plain voice.

"You did." She exclaimed, holding up her hand with the gauntlet. The look on the Admin's face was priceless. It was a combination of fear, panic, and pure desperation.

"No-" he stammered, now completely struggling against her iron grip. She held her ground. "You wouldn't-"

"You're right, I won't." She replied, taking her foot of his chest and sword off his chest. The Admin's eyes widened in surprise. She looked at both of her friends, unconscious on the floor, and then turned back to the Admin, her eyes hard as stone.

He got up from his feet, the black liquid pouring down his body.

"You've changed your mind." He said to her, shock evident in his voice.

"My mind is set. I know what I'm going to do." She said firmly.

"Good. Now we-"

Jesse slammed her fist into the Admin's face, with so much force it made him stumble and crack.

"What-?"

"I said my mind was set. I didn't say I changed my mind." Jesse said bitterly, walking towards him while cracking her knuckles. "That was for Beactontown."

She twisted her sword in her hands, the blade cool and steady. Then she lifted the sword up, the Admin looking at her with terror in his eyes, and rammed it straight into his chest and twisted it deep. He groaned and gritted his teeth as he clutched the sword.

"That. Was for my friends." Jesse exclaimed louder, the sword still in her hands. She could feel rage building up as she gritted her teeth.

She pushed the sword so hard that it went through his chest, a hole now in his un-humanlike body. He stumbled back and fell to the floor, clutching where the sword hit.

"And this-" Jesse held up the pendant with the gauntlet, wrapping her fingers around it one by one.

"No! Stop-!"

"Is for RUEBEN." She crushed the prismarine pendant in her hands, the pieces falling to the floor like rain. The Admin screamed, clawing at his body as parts of him started to disappear, a menacing glow in his eyes. "And for every single. Stupid. Idiotic word you said, every single thing you did. Every single moment you messed with me, insulted my friends, every time you wrecked parts of Beacontown.

"They're my family. Something you'll never know, and never have. Something that you thought was a game, and toyed with it for fun," She let the pendant's pieces fall to the ground. "And it cost you your life."

Jesse bent down to his level, looking him dead in the eye as he screamed in pain.

"Have fun in hell," she whispered sharply. "Though it won't be half as much pain I went through."

Then she watched as the Admin disassembled, like paper burning into ashes, pieces of it blowing away into the wind. She watched as he reached out for her, clawing at the ground and his body. She ignored his painful screams, his cries for help. Instead she looked him in the eye as he suffered, and then died, disappearing in the breeze.

Silence.

Satisfaction. Was she supposed to feel it?

Jesse stood up, still. Emotions making her head spin. Thoughts danced in her head, and than none at all.

"Jesse?" A weak voiced asked, making her turn. Lukas and Petra were looking at her, bruised and bloodied, but smiles on their faces.

She ran up to them, the thoughts in her head turning into one.

"Jesse are you okay? We saw-"

She wrapped her arms around them both, feeling the warmth of their bodies, the beating of their hearts. They wrapped theirs around her too, in one big embrace.

"I'm sorry. I am so sorry. I let this happen to you. It's my fault. I promise I won't let this happen again. I promise I'll get stronger-"

"Jesse." Petra smiled, a hand on her shoulder. "It's not your fault. And it never was. If you want to blame someone, blame the Admin."

"Yeah," Lukas replied. "We're just glad you're okay."

Jesse smiled, tears running down her cheeks.

"Thank you."

Petra and Lukas grinned.

"We'll always have your back Jesse."

"And I'll have yours."
