Lukesse: Together
Tears ran down Jesse's face as she fought, diamond sword in hand. Her dark hair was messy, green eyes sparkling, and teal armor cracked. She stared at the person she was fighting as their swords clashed, sending sparks through the air.
Lukas growled at her and slashed with his sword, blonde hair out of its usual hairstyle and eyes glowing blood red.
Jesse was tired of fighting. She was tired of trying.
"Lukas please!" She shouted desperately, dodging a hit and then bringing her sword up to strike. He blocked it, and then pushed her back hard, sending her to the ground. She groaned in pain as her sword flew out of her hand and skidded across the floor.
Lukas glared at her, hatred in his eyes. The caring, loving, kind personality wasn't there anymore. The real Lukas was gone, replaced with someone else.
Jesse didn't believe it, not at first. She didn't believe that he was gone, that somehow he was just acting different. But he betrayed them. He betrayed them all.
"ThE rEAL LUkaS iS GoNE JEsSe," an automated voice escaped from Lukas' mouth.
Jesse cried, not even bothering to get up, her heart breaking. He was right, the Lukas she loved was gone. The Lukas that always stood by her side, the Lukas that comforted her when she was in need, the real Lukas, had disappeared.
She looked up into his now red eyes.
"I'm done fighting Lukas," she said, her voice cracking. "If you can hear me, I'm done with trying to hurt you. Because I love you, and you know that. Where are you?"
Jesse pleaded, and for a second, his red eyes flickered. He gave Jesse a confused look. A sliver of hope ran through her, until his eyes turned an even darker shade of red. The confused look on his face was replaced with anger.
"SToP." The voice said, and Lukas kicked Jesse as she cried out. She looked up at him as he smirked.
"YOu REalLy aRe paThETic JeSse," he said bringing his sword up.
Jesse didn't move, she didn't try to fight. Lukas was gone. Maybe she should be too.
She closed her eyes, tears running down her cheeks, as Lukas brought his sword down, square in the chest.
A piercing scream. Jesse's scream, ran through the clearing.
Lukas stumbled to his knees, clutching his head as the color of his eyes flickered from red to blue. Pain gripped his head as he cried out in agony. Something in his heart moved, something changed. Something broke.
And then he was back. To normal, he wasn't sure. But he was free. Free from that dark prison. Free from being controlled.
And then he saw Jesse, sword in her chest, blood leaking from her wound. Her emerald eyes closed. Lukas froze, realizing that it was his heart that broke.
She lay, unmoving, almost lifeless. He felt guilt and pain in his chest, making his breaths heavy. He did this to her. Her blood was on his hands. It was all his fault.
"No-!" he cried, grabbing Jesse's hand as he sobbed. "No, please."
He could already feel the warmth leaving her body. The Jesse he loved was gone. Gone.
Words rang in his head.
I'm done fighting Lukas. If you can hear me, I'm done with trying to hurt you. Because I love you and you know that. Where are you?
Lukas sobbed, gripping Jesse's hand and feeling pain in his body.
"Lukas?" A voice whispered, as Lukas' eyes widened. Jesse opened her green eyes slowly. He smiled, tears still running down his face.
"Jesse! Oh notch, I'm sorry! I'm so sorry-!" He started, as Jesse gripped his hand.
"It's you?" She asked quietly, staring into his blue eyes. He stopped, and then nodded.
"Y-yes, yes it's me Jesse."
She looked at him for a moment, and then smiled. Then she chuckled, though it pained her.
"I thought you were gone," she whispered.
"No, no. You brought me back. I'm right here." Lukas tried to comfort her, but couldn't keep the pain out of his voice.
Jesse suddenly grabbed Lukas by his arm and pulled him into a kiss. Lukas gasped slightly and then kissed her. His heart beat fast.
They pulled away. Jesse was still smiling, a thin line of blood leaving her mouth.
"Don't leave me, okay?" She told Lukas, as her eyes began to close slowly. Her heart slowed.
"No, no. Jesse please..." he pleaded, but it was too late.
Her hand that gripped Lukas' fell to the ground. The warmth of her body began to fade, his tears mixing in with her blood.
There she lay, lifeless on the floor, sword still in chest and blood spilled. Lukas cried, choking. His heart, it hurt so much. His broken, shattered heart.
After a few moments something glinted out of the corner of his eye. He looked, curious.
Jesse's sword. He took a deep breath.
Don't leave me, okay?
He walked over and picked up the sword. Then he walked back to her.
"Don't worry Jesse," he said, putting the sword to his chest so that the point was facing his heart. "I won't leave you."
Without hesitation, he pushed the sword in, falling to the ground next to Jesse. His heart slowed, and then stopped beating. Their pools of blood mixed.
Jesse and Lukas lay next to each other, lifeless on the floor. Two hearts, two unbeating hearts.
And so they died, together.
