Jesse's PoV

I huffed, trying to find a place to sit down and relax. It was two days before Christmas and I was worried, since I have not gotten Petra a present yet. Olivia and Axel were easy, Olivia had a few books about redstone from me and a couple of levers to activate TNT for Axel. And for Lukas, all he wanted was just a book. But for Petra....

I looked down at the list, skeptically. All she wrote there was a sword. Huh. Unsurprisingly. I smiled a little and folded the piece of paper.

I should probably explain about the paper. Each year, two days before Christmas, everyone would write down what they wanted on their lists and the person getting the gifts would try and collect their desired items every year. Oh well. Only Olivia would cook up such a thing.

Sword. Where to find a sword? I looked up and decided to find some diamonds, since all Petra used was a gold one for now. "Too heavy, too soft." I remembered her saying. "But super flashy." I replied. I smiled to myself, missing the good old days. Anyway, c'mon Jesse. Think. Where can you get diamonds?

I look around and spotted a entrance to a cave. Only the best for Petra then. I swung out my sword and headed towards it, one hand looking for a torch and the other holding up my sword. I squinted at the cave and jumped in, without even looking up ahead.

I could handle anything. I hope. I dug our pieces of stone and hoped to find a natural cave system, and hopefully, that cave system would lead to lava. Which meant diamonds. Once or twice, I was ambushed by a passing creeper or a skeleton, but sorting them out wasn't a problem. After defeating the Admin, this was a piece of cake.

Speaking of the Admin, or Romeo, as we called him now, has been helping out in town, repairing it and everything. However, just a few days ago, Romeo had left for the Underneath, to make up with Xara, whom I knew might stick Romeo's head with her arrows.

I smiled at the thought and nearly fell right into a pool of lava below me. Keeping a hand on my torch and sword, I looked down to see how far the drop was. Pretty far, actually... I carefully dropped down, and immediately placed a torch on the floor. Loads of gold and lapis but no diamonds.

Since I was here... I swept up the mined gold and lapis, storing them for later use. Suddenly, there was a loud screech and something jumped on me, making my sword clatter out of my hand. Oh this was not good. "Get off spider!" I yelped, as if the spider could actually understand me. The spider hissed and I punched it in its eight eyes.

Ouch. That must've not felt good. The spider screeched and scuttled backwards as I looked back at my sword, which was a few feet away. "It's you or me, spider." I said and I punched it again, making it recoil and try to run away.

After a long time, with one final punch, I managed to punch it to death, making me tired out with exhaustion. "Just find that diamond, Jesse. For Petra." I said to myself, picking up my sword. I lit another torch and watched the light flicker off the cavern walls. Diamonds... on the other side!

Excited, I made my way over to the lava pool, hopefully getting those gems. However, like every person who sees riches, unfortunately does not see impending death. Just as I made my way to the diamonds, a sharp sound of an arrow startled me and made me turn around, just to get shot in the arm.

"Aww-." In pain, I stepped back just to fall right over the ledge. "WAHH!" I screamed in terror as the lava below me churned and scalded my feet. "GOTCHA!" someone yelled and grabbed my wrist. I looked up to see Petra, her face red from running. "What are you done trying to do Jesse?" she huffed, trying to pull me up.

"Give me a heart attack?" She pulled me up from my near death. I slumped against her, finally tired out. I looked up to see that Petra had finished off the skeleton that shot me and I wondered how did she find me. "I just followed your screams," Petra said, giving me a bowl of mushroom stew.

I weekly punched her and she smiled. "Come on, let's go." she held out a hand and I took it.

I handed the diamonds to Petra as we left the mines. "You can make it yourself." I said as she looked down at the glittering stones. "Remember what you told me?" I laughed. "Isn't it better when you make it yourself?" I continued as Petra punched my arm lightly. "Yeah yeah, don't quote me on that." with that, she kissed me and I sighed, glad that everything worked out in the end.
