Yes, I know, before you kill me, I accept this ship. AND EVERY SHIP. Now continue, if you want to :) everyone has their own opinions. 💕 suggested by the ever awesome: @worldofmcsm :) (I know this is long overdue, but oh well. I guess I found courage again)
Jess's PoV
Jess looked down at the paper in her hands. Rejected again. Sighing, she folded the paper and tore it in half absentmindedly. Jess was a writer, like many of her other friends but somehow, she seemed to be the only one who kept getting set back from the rest.
Jess twirled her pen around, looking up at the sun, which was dipping below the horizon. Sunset. She's been sitting at this park bench ever since school ended... but Jess always felt safe and at peace whenever she visited the park. It was her safe place.
Jess rested her head on the table, trying to find inspiration to write her thousand word essay for her class. But so far, all she had was a story about broccoli and books. No inspiration at all. She gently hit her head on the table, as if trying to hit the ideas out of her head.
"Jeez, calm down," someone said, gently knocking her head. She looked up to see a boy with olive (I can't decide what color they are 😂) green eyes and dark brown hair.
With his dark leather jacket and clean green shirt, he looked like someone who could beat you up and yet look fabulous. Sure, Jess talked to him a few times, but never alone. They usually had company, like Maya or Gill, his best friends.
"Hey Aiden." Jess said, nodding to the bench in front of her. He smoothly slid into the seat, propping his head up with his elbow to look at the sunset in front of them. "Hey yourself, what brings you here to the park this late?" he answered, still watching the sun.
"I have to write this stupid essay, obviously... Mr Milmore wants a thousand words! Which I bet is easy for you." Jess muttered sourly, scribbling on the paper again and trying to think of an idea. Aiden turned to her, "Do you need help? I can help you if you want."
"You heard what he said, right? No helping each other." Jess replied, still scribbling. Aiden shrugged. "But he's not here. He wouldn't know."
Jess was tempted to agree and finally let him help her but she needed to do this alone. It was her grade after all. "I'm fine... just need an idea." Jess scratched her head, but Aiden reached over and took the pencil out of her grip.
"Hey!" she protested but he just looked down at her paper, reading what she had written. A slight blush rose in her cheeks but Aiden didn't seem to have noticed that his hand was touching hers slightly. "You're slung this wrong," he said after awhile, not looking up at her.
"Here's how I do it. Close your eyes." He stood up from the bench, making her look up at him. "What? Close my eyes?" she asked nervously.
"Jeez, Jess, it's just me. I'm not gonna hurt you or anything, I swear." Aiden sighed, pulling her to her feet and picking up the paper and pencil. "Now close your eyes and follow me."
"How am I supposed to follow you if my eyes are closed?" Jess asked, opening one eye. "Fine. Come on." Aiden said, taking Jess's hand and pulling her gently through the park. She didn't know what Aiden was planning, but she went along with it.
"Now tell me what you're thinking." Aiden's voice piped up from the darkness.
"Um... are you going to push me into the lake or something?" Jess asked nervously.
"No. Maybe.... wait, I'm just kidding! I'm not!" Aiden added quickly when Jess let out a squeak of alarm.
"Okay, just continue closing your eyes and I'll take you around. This is how I get inspiration." Aiden said, pulling her forwards.
"You close your eyes and walk around the park?" Jess giggled as Aiden went silent. "Yeah, I ran into a few trees the first time and fell into the lake on the third try." Aiden said, laughing.
"I smell waffles." Jess said. "And... are we close to a water fountain?" she asked.
"Yep, go on."
"Mr Milmore wants us to write an essay about a feeling. Keep thinking." Aiden reminded her as he guided her around the park. "Then what does this have to do with the essay?" Jess asked impatiently. "Just keep going." Aiden said.
Finally, Aiden guided Jess back to the place where they started and finally spoke again. "You can open your eyes."
Jess opened them to notice that it was nighttime. "I hope you found your inspiration, Jess." Aiden smiled, "I'll see you tomorrow in school."
"Wait- all you did was to walk me around the park while I closed my eyes! Don't you know how scary-." Jess stopped, suddenly realising she knew what to write about.
Jess glanced up at the sky, which was scattered with stars... she had inspiration.

Jess glanced at the paper in her hands, unable to believe what she saw. With shaking hands, she started to smile and turn to Aiden, who winked at her.
"Miss Taber had written a beautiful essay, one which really moved me. She managed to capture the feeling of being lost. Scared of the dark. Afraid to face reality. Those are true feelings and I hope that each and every one of you will read her essay." Mr Milmore was saying.
Jess glanced at Aiden again, "You're welcome." he mouthed.
