1st Person

Now that I actually know who those guards were, I trust them more. But I can't trust them with everything of course. And they probably can't do the same. I mean, I'm an assassin from Ok'hasis. It's natural for people not to trust me. But they don't know that I'm from Ok'hasis. I don't plan on telling them soon either.

"Soooo... where can I stay now that I live in this village?" I asked no one in particular.

"Well, Lord Aphmau built some houses a few days ago. I'm sure you can get settled into one of those," Dante told me, shooting his gaze to a path with a few houses on it. It wasn't very far, but I still didn't know my way around this place. After all, I've only been through the nearby woods of this village.

"Oh, cool. I.. don't know how to get over there. Can one of you take me?"

"Sure can," Laurance replied, smirking as he made his way through the other guards.

"Laurance, Y/N is probably curious about the village. It would be best if I took her so I can tell her all about it. I am the guard that's been here the longest," Garroth suddenly spoke, boasting his knowledge of the area.

"Well, I actually am kinda curious.. I wouldn't mind walking over with you, Garroth," I told him and watched Laurance's mood die.

"Okay, we should begin walking over now then," I swiftly nodded. The others said their 'byes' to Garroth and I and we started heading over to the houses.

"So, Y/N, what are you curious about?" Garroth asked as we began walking. It caught me a bit by surprise because I wasn't expecting him to ask that, rather just tell me important things.

"Oh, first off.. I heard you say you were a guard here the longest. How long is that exactly?"

"Oh, I was a guard long before Aphmau was Lord. There's a confused story that comes with me being a guard here though. I probably don't have time to tell it though."

"Tell me. Now I'm intrigued," I chuckled and he turned to me, surprised.

"Very well then. I'm not really supposed to be here. I'm surprised I ended up here too. You see, I came here from Ok'hasis looking to be a guard–" I quickly cut him off at the sound of the large village's name.

"O-Ok'hasis?" I stammered, my eyes widening only slightly. I wonder if I know who he is. Or if he knew who I was. Before becoming an assasin I started off as a pick-pocketer in my early preteens. I was maybe 11 when I began, and I just went around stealing things from other people my age. It could be possible he was one of the people I stole from. We look around the same age.

"Yeah, why are you asking?" He asked me, a bit of confusion in his voice.

"Uhm.. don't take this weirdly, but how old are you?"

"Oh, uh.. okay. I'm Y/A, why do you ask?" You mind went blank looking for an excuse. I simply brushed it off. But I couldn't get over the fact he looked like one of the people I pick-pocketed from.

"No reason," I continued down the path, passing a guard building made of complete stone and rocks. "Hey, who built this?"

"Oh, the guard building?" I nodded, seeing features that made it obvious it was recently built and man-made. "That was Lord Aphmau. She wanted to give us guards somewhere to stay instead of cramped small towers."

"Oh? So, Lord Aphmau likes to build? I've never known a Lord like that. Lord Garte in Ok'hasis would never, ever even think about building," Garroth flinched in surprise at Garte's name. I had a questioning look on my face. I wonder what he's thinking right now.

"You're from Ok'hasis too?" He suddenly asked, surprising me and I think himself too.

"Uh.. yeah."

"Wait... if what you did earlier is what I thought it was... you must be an assassin, an assasin from Ok'hasis.. correct?" I felt my face flush of all the blood in it turning my face pale. I couldn't let them know I'm an assassin. I didn't know what they did to assassins, and was not willing to find out. I took my cloak and adjusted it around my neck because it felt as if it was getting tighter with each breath I took.

"N-no.. what makes you think that?"

"Well, you have a F/C cloak, a sword, and I saw one of your daggers fall from under your cloak when we were chasing you.." I couldn't believe I allowed myself to reveal that much information about myself in the small amount of time we knew each other.

"You s-see, I.. I don't exactly.. live anywhere in particular. I have my daggers so I could get myself food. And I have my sword in case anybody comes trying to steal my things. And my cloak... is more of a personal preference. I just like it because it's F/C and I got it from my parents before... I'm going to stop myself there," Garroth nodded understanding every word, and respecting my secrecy of strangers.

"Well, were here at the houses," he said after a long pause. I looked up from the ground and saw a few houses lined up down the paths. "Choose any. All of them are currently vacant," I smiled at him, as if I was saying thank you as he walked off. That was close.
