Before we begin, please don't hate me. I don't believe in the stereotypes and may have made mistakes. I'M SORRY DON'T HURT ME!!!

I remember how we met. It's rather ironic that we are, I mean were, so close.
*•*•*Flashback*•*•*
I was sitting beneath a tree, in the shade, on my phone. My annoyingly cheerful dad had dragged me here. At least I didn't have to babysit. I looked up from my phone to see a girl and three guys talking. One of them, the ravenette, started walking towards me. The blonde Ken doll said something and the black haired boy paused. (Please don't hate me) He turned around, said something, then started coming toward me again.
"Get your own tree," I snapped once he had reached my position in the shade. When he didn't move I looked back up and glared at his ice blue eyes, pulling out one of my earbuds.
"Go away. There's plenty of other trees to sit under. Pick one of them." I glared at him and his comrades as they joined him.
"Come on Zane. Mom said you have to play a sport," the blonde said.
"I'm not going to," Zane, I assumed, replied as he plopped down next to me. I scouted away from him and put my earbud back in, turning my attention back to my phone.
"Hey!" someone yelled as they pulled an earbud out. It was the black haired girl who was with the three guys. I shot her a death stare. "Finally. I've been trying to get your attention for forever. I'm Aphmau. What's your name?" She is way too perky. (I'm in touch with my emo side)
"(Y/N). Now go away."
"No. Would you like to play soccer with us?" I perked up a bit. Soccer? I can tolerate that. It's one of the only enjoyable things in life.
"..." I hesitated.
"You don't have to if you don't want to. I was just offering."
"I'll play."
"Really? That's great! Come on." She dragged me to the soccer fields where the brunette was trying to teach Zane to play goalie. The blonde was watching. Aphmau dragged me over to him and introduced us.
"He-Hey Garroth. This i-is (Y/N)," Aphmau stuttered. She made me sick. She was way to upbeat and obviously had a crush on this Prince Charming player. She acted like a live sick puppy. How did this Garroth guy not know? Is he a stereotypical blonde? (I'M SO SORRY. I DON'T BELIEVE THAT STUFF)
"Hello (Y/N). It's nice to meet you." He smiled at me. Smiled. I gave him a 'really' look. He just chuckled.
"Are we going to play soccer or just chit chat. If we aren't gonna play, I'm leaving," I said as I turned to go. Someone caught my arm. The brunette.
"Hey, you seem like Zane. Maybe you could teach him to play soccer." I sighed. "By the way, I'm Vylad." I turned to him, then walked to where the soccer ball sat in the grass. I deftly kicked it into the goal, past Zane. He glared at me.
"Are you gonna get the ball and actually block it?" I asked. He huffed and got the ball. I kicked it once more and it sailed past Zane.
"Why do I have to teach him? Why can't you?" I complained as Zane passed me the ball.
"He hates us. He'll only stand you," Vylad chirped. Seriously, these people are too happy. I shook my head slightly.
"Just so you know, I wasn't ready." I snorted at Zane. I kicked the ball for the third time and it went into the goal. Again.
"I thought you were ready," I taunted. "I'm done. He's hopeless. You," I said pointing at the girl, "teach him. I can't stand someone who won't try." And I'm not staying near cheerful people. I left and went back to my tree. My dad picked me up and we walked past the teens from earlier. The girl was apologizing profusely. I rolled my eyes and kept walking, ignoring my dad.
*•*•*Flashback Over*•*•*
Heh. Funny how times change. We both grew up, and made friends.
*•*•*Flashback*•*•*
"Pffft. Laurance I will never love you. I like....." my eyes scanned the cafe for someone. "Zane." The ravenette who was walking by turned to look at me. The table was silent, waiting to see what would happen.
"What?" Zane asked.
"Yeah, I like you. That's why we're besties. That's how people are friends. They like each other. Now come sit with us." I patted the booth seat. Zane hesitantly sat next to me, and I moved over so I squished Katelyn. Jeffory, Laurance and Aphmau, who were sitting across from us, laughed as Katelyn said something about me being fat. I smiled innocently at her and saw a glimmer of amusement in Zane's eye. We got our drinks and I ordered a cake for myself and a water for Zane. When the cake came, a wild Vylad came in and saw my cake. He ran over, grabbed it, and took off. I shoved Zane out of the booth onto the floor and jumped out. Only I tripped over Zane, pinning him to the ground. (This is what would happen to me. Someone steals my cake, I push people over to get it) I tried to get up, but Zane grabbed my hips.
"It's hopeless. Vylad has probably already eaten it," he said as he let go of me. I helped him up, the sighed, staring at where my cake had been before the cakenapping. Zane was right. I climbed back into the both, disappointed that I couldn't enjoy my delicious treat. Zane thanked me for the water and laughs and left. Katelyn, Jeffory, Laurance, and Aphmau were all red in the face from laughing so hard.
"I don't know why you all are laughing. Cake is life," I said, causing everyone to laugh more. I couldn't keep it in anymore, I grinned and burst out laughing.
"I guess we must have looked pretty ridiculous." Aphmau just nodded at my comment, still unable to speak. When everyone had calmed down we paid and left. Laurance tried once more to flirt with me, but I shut him down real fast. I walked home, humming my favorite song.
*Time Skip*
It was late when my phone buzzed. I peered at and saw a text from Zane inviting me to come over. I had nothing better to do than read fanfiction on Wattpad, so I agreed. I jogged over to Zane's house and knocked on his door. When he answered he let me in and I took off my shoes. When I was done he covered my eyes.
"Uhhh..... What are you doing?" I asked. Zane didn't reply, just led me through his house. When he lifted his hand I saw a lopsided cake sitting on his table.
"Did you make this?" I questioned, disbelief written on my face.
"Yeah, do you like it?" Zane asked, fiddling with his hoodie pockets.
"Like it? I love it! First off, it's a cake, and who doesn't love cake? And secondly, my best friend made it. How could I not like it?" I hugged Zane, catching a glimpse of the upturned corners of his mouth. I smiled back, then indicated to the cake. Zane let me go and I cut him a normal sized slice and myself a rather large slice. We sat on his couch in the living room and ate. I finished and licked some frosting from my face. Zane finished after that, and I laughed once I saw his frosting covered face. He tried to wipe it away, but missed. I wiped it away with my finger and ate it. He blushed, but offered to put on a movie.
"Sure. How about a comedy?"
"Haven't we laughed enough today?" Zane countered.
"There's no such thing as too much laughter." (Truer words have never been spoken)
"Okay, whatever you say....."
*•*•*Flashback Over*•*•*
I smiled, bittersweet. Those were the days.
*•*•*Flashback*•*•*
"Hey (Y/N), I was wondering if you would like to be my girlfriend?" I looked at the pale blue eyed boy and smiled.
"Yes. I would love to." I kissed him, then walked to my door after Zane unlocked the car. I stood in the door way, watching him drive to his home, and smiled. I'm his girlfriend. Life couldn't be better. I went to bed with those thoughts.
I sat straight up, gasping for breath. I had been awakened by a nightmare, but if what, I couldn't recall. I laid back down, but ended up tossing and turning for an hour. I got out of bed and walked downstairs. I opened my fridge and took out the milk, then found a stray mug in a cupboard. I warned the milk and drank it, then climbed back into bed. I still couldn't sleep so I grabbed my phone and texted Zane.
~~~~~
2:54 AM
I love you <3
I love you more
I love you most
I love you more than most
~~~~~
I smiled and shifted in my blankets, no longer having insomnia harass me.
*•*•*Flashback Over*•*•*
I wish I could still be with you. But things change, and sometimes people change with them. I gripped the paper I was holding tighter.
*•*•*Flashback*•*•*
"(Y/N), I'm so sorry," Zane said. We were cuddling on my couch.
"What?" I asked, confusion and dread filling me.
"I-" he paused. "I can't be with you."
"What?" I asked, willing it not to be true. What day is it? April Fools? No, it's not. Please be a joke. Please.
"Because.... There's someone else." I blinked, trying to keep my tears captive, but a few escaped.
"Go," I said in a low voice. Zane didn't move. "Leave! Go to the other girl. Make her feel special, like you make me feel." Zane silently got up and left, grabbing his keys and phone while I glared daggers at him. Once he was gone I locked the door. I stood there with my back leaning against it, then slid to the floor. I placed my head on my knees and cried. And to think I loved him. He's not worth my tears. I stopped crying and grabbed my phone, pressing the contacts app. I selected Zane's profile and pressed edit. He was no longer Zu Zu <3, but now Zane. Bitterness filled me. I hope you're happy with her.
*•*•*Flashback Over*•*•*
I guess he was happier with her. After all, he was going to marry her. I looked down at the wedding invitation in my hands. I crumpled it, but could still see Aphmau and Zane's joyful expressions. I threw it into the empty fireplace and stalked to my room. I grabbed my phone and started to get caught up in Wattpad. I was lounging on my bed when I heard a knock. Of course, me being me, I crawled to answer it, too lazy to walk. I used the door to stand up and opened it. I saw a flash of black hair and blue eyes. What is he doing here?
"Hello Zane. What brings you here?" I asked, trying to keep the events of last year locked in my head.
"Uhhh..... Ummmm...... I would like to...... Apologize....."
I raised one eyebrow. "Really?"
"Yeah, I know I was mean to you in the past, and I broke up with you, but I want to just say sorry. For everything."
"....."
"I see. I wasn't expecting you to forgive me, but it was worth a shot."
"No," I said as I grabbed Zane's sleeve. "I never expected you to apologize. And I'm sorry-"
"You don't have to apologize for anything. You are perfect in every way, and some day you'll make someone very happy."
"I don't know....."
"You will. I'm sure of it. Now, before I say good bye, I want to do something."
"Wha-" Zane's lips pressed against mine, and left as quickly as they came.
"What? Zane! Aren't you getting married to Aphmau?" I demanded.
"Yes, but I had to do that one last time."
".....Okay then. I guess this is good bye..."
"Not for forever. I'll come visit and you have my phone number. We can still be friends right?"
"Yeah," I said, smiling slightly. Zane grinned back, then left. At least his relationship with Aphmau brought one good thing. He doesn't cover his mouth anymore, and everyone can see his smile.

Okay guys, please don't hate me. I was in a bad mood when I wrote this and decided to hate everyone and everything, and make it semi sad. I'm sorry it's really late, but to make it up to you I'm working on a Vylad x Reader one shot as you read this. Sorry I'm taking forever. Writing takes time, and my creative juices are just now starting to flow. Ciao!
