I had run away from home once again, but this time having actually made it past the tall stone gates. I was so sick of my mom and dad fighting, and it only got worse once my little sister died. So I had run away. I realize now that I had almost no chance of surviving bandits or wild animals, after all I was only 7.
But I still ran. I ran past an abandoned village and through another, only to be attacked by bandits. I was pressed against a tree, tears threatening to spill.
"Please don't hurt me," I pleaded.
"We won't hurt you much. That is if your family will pay nicely for your return." The bandit paused, letting that sink in. "If not, we'll sell you to the highest bidder. Then you'll be their problem." My eyes widened in horror. Even at such a young age I knew what could possibly happen.
"Let her go," a young voice demanded. The bandit pressing me against the tree turned, allowing me a glimpse of a blue haired boy my age.
"Heh. No can do. And now you're coming with us." The lead bandit signaled his comrades to attack the boy, but he quickly pulled out two silver katanas that flashed in the afternoon light. The boy's bravery inspired me to try and escape, so I struggled and almost broke free. I was running towards the boy with intentions to help him, but was stopped by a bandit.
"Where do you think you're going?" the bandit snarled. I didn't reply, just struggled some more. When that didn't work I resorted to screaming. The bandit holding me quickly placed his hand over my mouth. Big mistake. I quickly bit on it as hard as I could and jumped out of his arms. I ran to one of the bandits cornering the blunette and jumped on his back. He grunted in surprise but didn't really bother me until I grabbed two fist gulls of short hair and pulled. He yelped and frantically tried to get me off. He didn't try for long as another blue haired man came along with a pastel blue haired meif'wa with a bow. The blue haired man quickly drew two red katanas and forced the bandits to flee. I had fallen off the bandit's back and slowly got up, wincing when I put weight on my ankle.
"That's the third time this week. You kids aren't allowed to practice in the ruins anymore," the blue haired man said, causing the two blue haired kids to groan. "At least until the bandits don't come back."
"Yay!" The kids cheered. I started limping away from them and towards the forest.
"Hey, where are you going?" the blue haired man inquired. I looked back and saw everyone staring at me, the boy cocking his head to the side cutely.
"I don't have a home. I ran away. They just wouldn't stop fighting....." I replied, almost crying. Sometimes the fights got really bad, and things would be broken or people would get hurt.
"Hey, it's okay. Don't cry. You can stay with us, if you want," the man offered.
"Really?"
"Really. My wife will love having another kid around, and Nekoette will love having a girl to hang out with."
"O-Okay. Thank you," I said, running to the man and hugging him. He gently hugged me back, smiling softly.

"Hey Miss Kawaii~Chan. How are you this afternoon?" I asked my best friend's, and crush's, step mom.
"Kawaii~Chan is good, but she insists that (Y/N)~Sama refer to her as Kawaii~Chan. No miss."
"Sorry. It's a habit."
"It's okay. Kawaii~Chan thinks it is a good habit, but she personally doesn't like to be called miss."
"I understand. Say, do you know if Dmitri is back yet?" Just as I said that Dmitri walked in. "Look at that. Speak of the Devil and he appears."
"Hello Kawaii~Chan. Hey (Y/N). How are you ladies this afternoon?" Dmitri asked.
"I'm good. But who are you calling a lady? I am just as good, if not better, at combat than you," I replied.
"Heh. Is that why you never show up to practices? You're too 'good'?" Dmitri retorted.
"No, I've just been-"
"Kawaii~Chan thinks (Y/N)~Sama and Dmitri~Kun should take their bickering outside. Kawaii~Chan can't bake sweet sweets when you two are letting off negative feels. And she can hardly remember the recipe over your yelling."
"Sorry Kawaii~Chan. Come on Dmitri, we'll settle this with a duel. Meet at the docks in half an hour."
"Okay. Prepare to have your butt whipped." I snorted at his remark.
"In your dreams. If even then." Dmitri scoffed and we went our separate ways for a half hour.

I was sitting on the docks, waiting for my blue haired opponent to arrive. Dmitri finally showed up, and we got into a fighting stance at either side of the dock.
"3," I started.
"2," Dmitri replied.
"1."
"Go!" Dmitri yelled. I ran at him and swung my sword, but he blocked it. He pushed up, trying to get me to let go of my sword, but I countered by sliding my sword past his. I swung again and he jumped back just in time. Dmitri readied both katanas and swung. Left first, then right. I blocked the left one, then hit his right katana with my sword, causing him to drop it. Right into the ocean. Dmitri peered into the water, hoping for a glimpse of his beloved weapon, but it was gone. I sighed, and stripped out of my armor. I had a (F/C) tank top underneath, as well as some jean shorts. I quickly dived into the water and started looking for Dmitri's katana. I was searching near the bottom on on side of the dock, but I couldn't find it. I had to go back up for air, so I did. I popped above the surface and Dmitri was hopeful.
"Did you find it yet?" I shook my head no.
"Not yet. I'll keep looking though," I said before taking a breath and swimming back underwater. I looked farther out and saw it. I swam over to it but couldn't reach it before I ran out of air again. I swam to the surface and quickly took a breath before diving again. This time I could actually reach the sword and pull it out before being stopped by something. I swam back to the surface with Dmitri's katana. When I surfaced, I was behind Dmitri, so I swam over to the dock and quietly climbed on. Dmitri was still looking intently at the water, probably waiting for me to surface again. I leaned down and whispered in his ear.
"Boo." Dmitri jumped and fell into the water. I laughed at him. "Look on the bright side, I found your katana," I said. Dmitri climbed onto the docks and wiped his cobalt hair out of his face. When he held his hand out for his katana, I started running.
"You're gonna have to catch me!" I screamed. Dmitri quickly started sprinting after me. I dodged him for a good five minutes before I hid in his house. Kawaii~Chan was still baking.
"Kawaii~Chan, don't tell Dmitri I'm here," I said after she asked what I was doing.
"Okay (Y/N)~Sama, Kawaii~Chan won't." Just as Kawaii~Chan said that, Dmitri walked in. I squeaked and hid behind the table.
"Hey Kawaii~Chan, have you seen (Y/N)?" Dmitri asked. Kawaii~Chan looked in my direction before answering.
"Kawaii~Chan has, but (Y/N)~Sama left before you came." I breathed a sigh of relief.
"If that is true, why is (Y/N) hiding behind the table?" Dmitri asked, looking in my direction.
"I have no idea what you're talking about," Nekoette said as she walked into the kitchen and sat near me. "(Y/N) was outside, last I saw her."
"Okay...." Dmitri said, not being convinced. He took one more look at the table before leaving the house.
"Thanks guys. Now I'm going to go back outside. See ya later," I said as I walked out the door and into Dmitri.
"Oh hey Dmitri, how are-" I started before running past him.
"(Y/N)! Get back here with my katana!" Dmitri yelled, chasing me. I didn't look where I was going and tripped over a tree root. I fell, and Dmitri's momentum was so great that he couldn't stop either, and he landed on top of me.
"Get off me, you're heavy," I complained.
"Not until you give me my katana," Dmitri replied.
"NEVER!" I screamed. I was on my stomach and the katana was between me and the ground. Luckily I hadn't cut myself when I fell.
"What if I said you were better than me at combat?" Dmitri asked, trying to strike a bargain with me. "Or what if I got Kawaii~Chan to bake you a cake?"
"Hmmmm. Tempting, but I prefer having your katana. Now get off me!" Just as I said that, Yip was walking by.
"Yip! Help meeeeeeeeee. Please," I begged.
"What did you do this time?" Yip asked, stopping his walk.
"Dmitri dropped his katana in the ocean and I got it back. Then I started running with it and fell and he fell on top of me and now he won't get off. He's heavy," I explained, wiggling to try and get Dmitri off my back, literally.
"You're on your own for this one, (Y/N)," Yip said as he walked away.
"Wait! Yip! Come baaaaaaaaaack!" I wailed. Dmitri chuckled.
"What are you laughing at?" I demanded. Dmitri chuckled some more.
"Oh nothing. Just the fact that I managed to get my katana back and you didn't notice."
"What?! How did you?"
"You were distracted by Yip, so I took it."
"Hmp. You have your katana back, so now you can get off me."
"Oh, but you didn't give me my katana back," Dmitri explained, his eyes full of mischief. "I took it. I said if you gave me my katana I would get off. But you failed to do that, so I'm going to fail to get off."
"You monster," I gasped. Dmitri didn't react, so I tried a different approach. "If you get off me, I'll tell you a secret."
"I already know all your secrets."
"What? No you don't. At least not this one," I said confidently.
"Hmmm. Tempting, but I prefer sitting on you hearing you beg."
"Hey! That's what I said earlier. Are you mocking me?"
"Nooooooooooooo," Dmitri replied, clearly lying. I sighed.
"I'm not stupid."
"I never said you were," the annoying blunette replied.
"But your tone kind of implied it." I paused. "But can you seriously get off me. There's a rock that is jabbing me in the stomach. Not to mention that you're fat."
"Says the one who, if they could, would only eat Kawaii~Chan's cake."
"Hey! It's delicious, and that's a fact," I defended myself. Dmitri laughed. I laid there with Dmitri sitting on me for another ten minutes before Kawaii~Chan came to tell us that her cake was ready. When she saw us, she scolded Dmitri who got up and helped me up. I stretched and jumped on Dmitri's back.
"Payback," I whispered in his ear. He sighed and carried me back to Kawaii~Chan's. He set me in a chair and sat next to me.
"Thanks for the piggyback ride," I said. "And thank you Kawaii~Chan for this cake," I finished as she set a piece in front of me.
After eating, Dmitri and I went on a walk through the town. We heard rustling in the bushes and saw Lilith hiding there.
"Just kiss! Please! I want my ship to sail," she begged. Dmitri shook his head no. I shrugged and quickly pecked him on the lips.
"I love you Dmitri!" I called as I ran away from a shocked Dmitri and a fangirling Lilith. Because honestly, who knows how a guy will react to being kissed unexpectedly. Dmitri finally pulled himself together and called back.
"I love you too, (Y/N)."
