Anyways
"A chicken?" Papisuu groaned.
The next room was a simple terra cotta room, with a bit of glass instead of birch flooring. It was a small room, and beneath, along a small path surrounded by Netherrack, was a chicken.
The girls had so far gone through the parkour and their legs hurt, so this room was a bit relieving almost.
"Oh, oh dear," Dawson mumbled to herself.
"Alright!" Clapped Boredom, and she turned to a small caramel-colored chest. In it were a couple brown seeds. "Oh...maybe we have to lead it?" The girl suggested.
"Good idea! Who'll lead it?"
"I can," Dawson replied, taking the seeds and waving them through the glass. The chicken's tiny black eyes glanced up. Dawson waved them down below. "Here little chicken, here little guy..."
She could only see the chicken through a couple twists and turns, the rest being blocked by birch wood. "Here, Boredom, get behind me and let me know when to-" She stopped abruptly. The girl spun around in her teal-turquoise and white-trimmed Rosalina outfit (much to Boredom's dismay, as it swirled up dust in the poor superhero's face) and looked down.
The chicken had stepped onto the Netherrack and had died.
"Boredom!!"
"I just got here!!"
The two girls argued, and Papisuu was tempted to pick up the nearest object and snap them both out of it, but the only real object she could use was the chest, and she didn't want to be responsible for any brain trauma that would potentially happen.
Plus, she'd probably kill them.
Thor and Rosalina/Mario seemed to argue for a bit, with Dawson panicking over killing many chickens and Boredom reassuring her that it'd be fine and how was I supposed to know he'd die!?, to which Dawson shot back it's Netherrack, Boredom!!
"Both of you SHUT IT!" Fangirl yelled, and the two stopped. "Here, Dawson, you guide the chicken, and Boredom, the rest of us can help you."
Dawson mumbled something but got the seeds again while Investagator hit the button to spawn in a new chicken. The telltale, 'cluck,' sounded, and Dawson began to guide it. "Alright little guy...come here..."
"Stop!" Boredom commanded, and Dawson stopped, as did the chicken below them. The tension in the small and strangely comical room vanished, and all of them breathed a quick sigh of relief. The mansion-goers continued to tell Dawson where to go.
"Okay, now go all the way until your back hits the wall," Investagator told Dawson.
"All the way?" The girl asked, not taking her eyes off of the chicken, just in case.
"All the way," Investagator confirmed.
Dawson walked until she was looking at the others, with her back to the wall. A sudden abrupt chicken noise made Dawson scream as the chicken despawned below them.
"YOU TOLD ME ALL THE WAY!" She screamed.
"I'M SORRY!!" Investagator screamed back. "I THOUGHT YOU COULD GO ALL THE WAY-I'M SORRY!" Her words ended in a laugh as she covered her mouth, and Dawson groaned while going over to spawn another chicken.
The other four girls wanted to laugh at Dawson's growing frustration as chicken after chicken died. Finally, when number 6 chicken, named, "Kodiak," had died, Dawson was ready to give up.
"I don't wanna do this anymore," The dirty-blond haired girl mumbled, circling up in the corner. The others went into a circle, Papisuu placing her arms around the others in a huddle.
"Okay, one man down but we can still do this. Boredom, get the seeds. We will be your eyes." Papisuu explained, the girl's bright green-teal curly hair blowing in an imaginary breeze. "Got it!" Boredom called out, winking and clicking her tongue, grabbing the seeds and spawning in the new chicken.
"Wait. Before we start. Dawson - you wanna name him?"
Dawson didn't respond for a second, then, "Name him Simon, please. He's a Simon. Don't kill him." She sounded tired and ready to go to bed. Papisuu looked out a window of the little birch and terra cotta room, and the dark navy blue-violet swirling with dark reds and turquoises was quickly darkening. Papisuu could see the bridge where the mansion began, along with the woods, the jack-o-lanterns..
They were going to miss trick-or-treating!!
Aw heck no, she wasn't gonna let that happen.
"Okay, let's save Simon, alright?"
The other nodded in agreement.
"Thank you," Dawson mumbled from the corner.
They started with Boredom guiding the chicken. By now they knew all of the twists and turns, and finally, Boredom got tired. Switching out with Fangirl, they continued down the narrowly twisting birch path, the little mottled brown-terra cotta-and-white chicken's eyes locked with the brown seeds in the adventurer's hand.
Click.
"Solved!" Papisuu yelled out, jumping up into the air joyously, the others clapping and cheering, high-fiving right behind her. Dawson stood up and breathed a sigh of relief. "Where's Simon?" They all looked down to see the chicken move into a little seed-filled pen, hopefully leading to outside the mansion. As he left, Dawson breathed another sigh of relief.
"Go on Simon! May Mark, Kodiak, Harry Potter, Autumn, Wheeps, and Tyler Oakley live on in your memory, maybe you can reunite with your family, meet a nice girl chicken, or guy chicken, and have millions of little chicken babies in this weird mansion swamp place," Papisuu said, removing her wizard hat and placing it over her heart in a speech. When it was over, she placed it back on her head, and the other girls applauded.
With that, the door swung open to reveal the next room.
Which was..and, this made Investagator gasp, mind you-
"A library!" Dawson cheered.
A little dimly-lit library with similer wooden floors, walls, and banisters, and a couple lapiz lazuli and prizmarine blocks shining, bathing the place in an almost unnatural teal-and-dark-blue light, with another more pink-ish light coming from somewhere else in the room.
Flipping on a torch-light, more natural yellow-orange and marigolden light filled up the room, reminding them all of Cassie's mansion.
"Ooh," most of the girls mumbled in awe in unison.
"ALRIGHT. YOU'VE PASSED MY CHICKEN ROOM, AND HAVE MASTERED MY PARKOUR. NOW, GRAB SOME ARROWS AND A BOW FROM THE CHEST, AND SHOOT ALL THE BUTTONS YOU CAN FIND." The voice boomed from somewhere.
Investagator jumped about a foot, and Papisuu snickered. The five of them got arrows and bows from the chest. Immediately, they started looking. The speakers in the mansion crackled to life all of a sudden, the voice, the owner, made another announcement.
"OH, I FORGOT TO MENTION: YOU HAVE EXACTLY FIVE MINUTES BEFORE OUR FIRST VILLAIN MAKES HER MANSION DEBUT! SHE MAY KILL OFF OUR FIRST GUEST..."
Crackle.
Putt....
The speaker had turned off.
"Everyone go!" Papisuu exclaimed, and the rest of them, against their own wishes, sprinted off. The birch and terra cotta colored library spread out before them. Investagator found hers almost immediately, being hidden just underneath a wooden slab.
Almost abruptly, a tiny happy jingle sounded around them, and a light near the door lit up.
Dawson was a close second, with hers being on a second lever. She leaned over the balcony and caught a glimpse of a button on the ceiling. Aiming her bow and arrows, it hit the target on point.
Another successful jingle, accompanied by the next light coming to life.
The next button was a bit harder to come by. Papisuu rummaged through some books, as if they would open up a secret passage and get them out of this frickin'--
A sudden rumble shook the room. All five girls screamed, and looked to the center of the tiny library. In the center were a few tumbled-together lapiz lazuli and prizmarine blocks. A lone book hovered in the center.
"Maybe it has a hint?" Investagator suggested.
"I dunno, man," Papisuu mumbled. "Try it maybe?"
Investigator shrugged and grabbed the tiny leather book. Almost instantaneously, a deep rumble and spastic burst of sound made all participants scream and jump backwards. A burst of red swirling light emerged.
"Go! Keep looking for the buttons!" Boredom called out as Papisuu exclaimed, "INVESTIGATOR!"
"IT WAS YOUR IDEA!"
"ME!?"
Papisuu, Boredom and Fangirl all scrambled to find the next three buttons, while Dawson and Investagator prepared their weapons. The blocks of lapiz and prizmarine shook violently, until something-someone,-exploded from them.
An instant cold settled over the cozy little library that replaced the previously calm and warm atmosphere of the dimmed library.
"WHO TOUCHED MY BOOK!?" The voice shook with such power that Dawson gave a small terrified squeak. From somewhere in the banister, book Papisuu and Boredom screamed.
A figure seemed to throw herself from the blocks, turning her cold dark blue-violet gaze. Dark caramel hair whipped around her face, and she seemed to be hovering.
On...wings. Giant lapiz-colored wings, along with claws that looked sharp as knives. Large shimmering scales wrapped around her tall body that turned into a kaleidoscope of blues, dark blue-violets, blue-greys, prizmarine-teals...
"SCARY DRAGON LADY!" Investagator blurted.
"YOU!" The hybrid seethed, extending her claws out. Swooping up the book protectively, she glared down at the two girls.
"So-you were the one who touched my book, huh?" Her voice was cynical, cold, and merciless. Investagator and Dawson shared a terrified look.
A ding sounded as Papisuu, Boredom or Fangirl hit another button, and another lamp lit up. Papisuu called out, 'yes!' what seemed like only a second later, Boredom's lamp lit up as well.
"Now," The cold and insidious voice of the hybrid laughed. "My job was supposed to be killing whoever didn't get their button on time, maybe give you a couple riddles, and then let you pass."
"What're you talking about? Fangirl's just about to find her button, and-"
A sudden ding signified Investigator's theory being right, and the door swung open. Five collective sighs passed through the tiny library.
"NOT SO FAST!" The hybrid roared, and (Rush I'm sorry I'm giving her an extra power don't kill me,) with a swoop of her hand, a strange swarming bubbly-looking aquamarine substance had raised the other three from their places in the library.
Papisuu yelped, her green-teal hair swaying.
Boredom tried to run but seemed to be suspended in the constantly moving aquamarine magic. "Now, let's see-you've all seemed to be pretty good at escaping this mansion. A little too good. Now, the boss said I could kill one of you, the last one to get their button."
Her eyes slowly trailed to Fangirl, and the brunette suddenly gasped.
"Rush?"
The others instantly recognized the brown hair and voice, although both severely were distorted, dissolved or melted. She looked so...broken. Not in control of her own mind.
"But-the mansion...the fire...you, fell.." Investagator whispered.
"I would kill you, little one," Rush sneered. "But I have something more, fun, in mind. And..Rush? I don't answer to Rush anymore, that's a part of me that's died. You may call me Pen."
She trained her eyes, now going to their normal fern-minty green colour, on Investagator. A lump caught in the smaller girl's throat. "You touched my book. Big mistake."
Dropping all of the girls in random spots in the library, flailing them around so Dawson ended up on the balcony and the others landed where they had found their buttons, all girls gasped as Investagator remained suspended in the air.
Rush raised her book and wrote something in it.
Immediately, Investagator began to spasm and convulse violently, screaming until her was hoarse. Her blood was on fire...
Abruptly, the teal and blue-hair aura around her dropped, and Investagator fell. A puff of smoke rose into the air, and the telltale despawning sound sounded as Investigator's inventory splashed around the library.
"No!" Dawson called.
"Oh, don't worry-she's respawning right now in the mansion's respawn zones. I've had my fun. Go onto the next task. See you little insignificant humans later." Spitting the last few words out, Rush vanished through the wooden oak walls.
