15 - Aww, Tell Me
Nari contemplated with herself to go out or not. She was already feeling utterly lazy to try and get her work done in the already clouded room of hers - due to the fact she has been trying to cram in a lot into her brain.
She could always go to another coffee place but in all the places she's been to, she loved the vibe NCT gave her. The only reason she tried to find other alternatives what how crystal clear the memory of Yuta.
She was never the one someone would have feelings for. She had and still have a lot of guy friends who treat her with care and as if she's their sister. But never been in the place where she'll feel someone crushing on her. Not really to put it into crushing because clearly, Yuta was flirting with her. She knew she wasn't the one who would catch the eyes of guys, so it felt new and at the same time embarrassing in a way.
Shaking her head vigorously, she eventually got herself ready and packed all the necessities she needed. The typical moderate weekend afternoon traffic grew familiar so it didn't take long for her to reach her destination. And yet again, she was blessed by the forces of parking spaces. Parking in front of the shop, she slung the heavy bag over a shoulder and locked the car.
Standing still in front of the shop, she muttered to herself, "Neo Coffee and Tea." Shaking her head, "Just what kind of wizards or warlocks are you guys to have an addiction spell that makes people come back?"
"Taeyong's Hufflepuff," a voice responded to the mumbles she thought was only audible to her. Shocked at the sudden reply like a ghost creeping up, she shivered before looking at the direction of the voice, greeted with a smiling expression.
"Oh, Winwin! What did you mean by that?" Nari asked. "You said about wizards. I don't know, I just thought of replying that. What's your house?" the boy with hands in his apron, reflected her with a question in return.
"Gryffindor," she replied with a slight chuckle. "Same!" a bright smile appeared on his face, making her smile while speaking in a minion-like tone, "Buddies!"
Finally moving her legs, she walked to the door. Pushing it open wide open, she entered with Winwin right behind. Nari went to a table next to the window, which was empty seeing how sunlight shone at the tables nearby the window.
Setting up her things and stuff on the table, she laid her head on the table as soon as she was done. The uncomfortableness of the contact between her forehead and the table made her place her arm in between.
Her mind gave up in trying to keep her eyes open and in mere seconds, she fell asleep.
After a short while, she woke up and slowly took her head away from the table and leaned against the mounted-to-the-wall chair and rubbed her eyes using her thumb and index finger to wash away the sleepiness.
Looking to her side, she was greeted with Johnny, who laughed as soon as he saw her face.
He pointed to her hair, and with so she messily ran her fingers in her bangs, not caring much about the outcome, knowing how her hair would usually not turn out the way she wanted them to. "Even if I manage to have my hair look good one day, as if people would notice it," she spoke at the still giggling Johnny.
"Someone would still like you with that hairstyle," he replied. Nari brushing away what he said as she still tried to snap herself out of her sleepy state.
"You know, I have a question," Nari stared to the streets as she spoke, Johnny's laughter died slowly and hummed, signing for her to continue.
"Is Yuta usually like that?" a questioning hum left Johnny as he heard the question. "I don't know, he just makes me feel weird like, embarrassed I guess. I can't think of any adjective that fits or how to even explain," sighing, she ran her fingers on the touchpad of her laptop and scrolled up and down her assignment.
"He's a flirt?" the lad chuckled at his own questioning statement. "Yeah," a hefty sigh fell from her mouth, "Like I haven't been in any situation like such, and it's just. He even kissed my cheeks like boy, I was just dumbfounded."
"Well, I wouldn't be surprised with that, he's always been a flirt. Always." Gently, Johnny patted Nari's shoulders as the latter had a hand messing around with her bangs and the other touching her touchpad aimlessly.
"I don't really think I want that, I don't want to be feeling awkward. Plus, I am not worthy of someone to be having feelings for me, that includes flirting for fun," she said as she snuggled in an earphone in one ear.
"Sorry if I made you feel such," the voice of the person they were talking about was heard. Nari looked to her front and saw Yuta taking a seat and sitting opposite of her.
"It's all just, not really what I want to feel. Sorry, Yuta," she muttered with a guilty expression on her face, her heart beating fast at the thought of hurting someone.
"Smile, kiddo! It's fine," with a smile, Yuta tried to cheer her up. "You're not..." her brow slightly raised with her still guilty facial expression.
"I'm always like that, plus it was just a gesture since you helped me a lot. You were there for me," Yuta ruffled Nari's hair. "And you're just cute. I couldn't help myself," the lad laughed.
"Well, he's not wrong on that one, you are cute," Johnny nodded agreeing with Yuta. "I am not cute. For the love of coffee, I am not," she dropped her head into her palms, denying the statement.
"Even if I want to try and make you fall for me, I think you already crushing on someone else," smirking, Yuta was trying to fish out a confession.
"If we're talking about the numerous k-pop groups that I support, yes, I have a lot of guys climbing up my list," she clicked her tongue with both her index finger pointing to Yuta.
"Are you trying to lie to yourself?" unsatisfied with her answer, he gave her an unamused facial expression.
"Oh look, Winwin's so cute!" she diverted the question to Winwin, who was entertaining the customer with bright smiles.
The two diverted their gaze to Winwin, who bowed to the customer after returning their change. Striding slightly, he went next to Taeil, who started to craft the customized iced-blended coffee drink the customer just now had ordered. The older, turned his head and looked at the ever smiling younger.
"Well, excuse me," Yuta pushed his chair back and headed to the back of the counter. Side hugging Winwin, he playfully called, 'Winko." Still focused on Taeil, who has turned back to finish the drink, Winwin ignored Yuta. Kissing the playing hard to get Winwin on the ear, Yuta felt satisfied and headed to the kitchen.
"And you were worried?" Johnny asked with the two of time watching the bromance happen. "You wouldn't understand," Nari rolled her eyes before gazing at the screen of her laptop and began to do her work.
"You don't want any drinks?" crossing his arms, he leaned back and looked at her screen as she typed in what looks to be a review essay.
"I finally have some ideas on what to do, I'll put it down first or else I'll forget what I wanted to write," she replied with her fingers moving quickly pressing the keyboard, filling the empty sheet with word vomit.
In the midst of being so focused on her writing, her concentration was broken when she heard shouting, "Why the hell did you save his number?!"
Simultaneously, Nari and Johnny snapped to look at the source, which was a man who was tightly holding a phone and gesturing like he wanted to hit the lady in front of him with it. The lady couldn't manage any other reply other than "I'm sorry" and "It's not like that".
"You know well enough I don't like him one bit but why are you responding to his messages and even saved his number?! Are you cheating on me? Did you not consider my feelings?!" his tone increasing with each question he threw at her.
His hand held high, he was close to slapping her before an arm took the powerful hit instead. "You really shouldn't be causing a scene and cursing here," coughing, Nari tried to be stable with her tone despite feeling hurt from the impact.
"And you should just have minded your own business, you shit of a person! She's mine and who are you to question on what I could do or not to her?!" the man threatened Nari, who shooked her head as she covered the lady from the man's sight.
Looking around, he quickly grabbed a drink from a nearby table, making the customer who ordered the drink gape in awe that the man just took it without thinking. A quick snap of his hand, he threw the drink to Nari, who pushed the lady away. Covering her face with her hand, she was ready to be hit by the drink - only god knows how hot it would be.
A few seconds after she realizes the absence of heat and water. Opening her eyes and lowering her hand, a person was in front of her. From the back view of the shoulders that covered her view, she quickly made out who it was.
"Why must you create a scene at my shop? And are you really that inhumane to be so self-centred?" the guy asked making the man huffed in anger as the guy hand held his arm, making the drink fall down the guy's arm.
The man snapped his arm away, eyeing the guy with rage. Trying to keep cool despite balling his fingers into a fist and clenching his teeth together from not really warm water that cover his arm, the guy looked at the man ever so calmly.
Trying to throw a punch to the guy, the man was held back by Johnny and Yuta, who held his tensed arm tightly. Looking at the side, Nari noticed how Doyoung was on the phone, presumably calling the police.
"I'm sorry for letting you into my problems," the lady spoke rubbing her hands together, her head held down with guilt ever so evident in her voice.
"You didn't deserve to be faced with this problem, look at how many times you've faced this. It can end and it will," Nari gently pulled her into a hug as she looked down at the bruised arms and legs.
Nari let out a sigh of relief as she caresses the lady's head gently. Turning her gaze around, she looked at the forced smiling lad, who emitted hurt from his eyes.
"You didn't have to you know?"
