12 - Three, Not Two

The sun falling from the horizon and the darkness filled the sky, lights brightly shining over from buildings, night has come and the shop was still, indeed busy.

A car pulled up, the driver thankful for a free spot in the usually filled parking space in front of the shop. Most likely because business times are coming to an end, which explained the very minimal amount of people on the streets. The door on the passenger's side swung open, a petite young girl coming out with a mid-sized plastic container.

The engine of the car died with a push of a button, the driver went out from the car, locking the car as the door slams shut. Walking towards the petite girl waiting as still as a statue, the driver side-hugged her.

"Why didn't you just straight go in, Hyebin?" the older asked, looking down at the girl who had her eyes focused on the contents of the container.

"I was waiting for you, Nari. Like I don't want to come inside alone, or else I might embarrass myself in front of my crush!" the younger said, her tone showing the anxiety she had to be having a meal with her crush and his friends.

"You still haven't told me who your crush it, and you've been fangirling about him to me for months. Oh, the mysterious nameless crush!" Nari crouched down a bit, putting on weight onto the younger's body.

"Nari!! You know well that I'm shy to say it! Plus, you're the only person I've talked to about him!" a slight snarl in her speech as she had a major emphasis on the word 'only'.

The cute, flustered actions of the younger made her laugh. Having a bit too much fun teasing the younger, she laughed with her sight looking straight into the shop. Noticing how some heads began to dart away at the sight of them both, she couldn't help but let out another laugh at who might be the secret crush Hyebin's been on about.

"Come on, we came here to eat. Now, just enjoy your food okay?" caressing Hyebin's hair gently, Nari hoped that the younger won't feel too pressured to present herself.

"But what if I look hideous when I eat? He'll probably dislike the sight and see me as weird and ugly," pouting and holding the container tightly, she snuggled herself close with Nari.

"Just be yourself, kiddo. You'll do fine! If you really feel that anxious, just sit next to me the whole time," she spoke to the younger with her face close to the top of the younger's head. Kissing the top of her head, the younger loosen her tensed muscles.

"Now let's go inside, I'm in need of some coffee right now," ushering the younger the walk towards the door, she pushed the door open, more than enough space for the two to walk in together.

As if planned, Johnny and Jaehyun who took a sip to quench their thirst, quickly gulped down the water and greeted Nari, "Hey, you made it!"

Pointing towards an empty table, Nari indicated for Hyebin to sit first. Walking towards the two at the pick-up counter, she had her hands in the pocket of her cardigan, "I was too lazy to cook, one of the main reasons to why I'm here despite my soul almost being pulled out of my body."

Chuckling at her reply, Johnny leaned towards the other, almost hip-tall counter as he replied, "Is that really your reasoning?" Looking at the brow-raised tall guy eyeing her, Nari responded, "What is that suppose to mean?"

"Oh, nothing," Jaehyun replied with a singing tone. "Oh yeah, the younger ones are upstairs, preparing the tables and food, why don't you join them with Hyebin. Like have a chat and what not, we'll join when it's close to closing time," Johnny held his hand up, pointing to the upper level.

Her head quickly went to look at the upper floor, she saw heads peeping from the railings looking down. Waving slightly to the younger ones, she quickly changed her gesture, pointing to the phone-focused Hyebin. Noticing the girl, they quickly pulled back and disappeared from sight.

Walking towards Hyebin, Nari took the plastic container and placed a hand on Hyebin's shoulders. "Come on, let's have a chat with the others before we eat," nodding timidly to the older's words, she stood up and followed Nari up the stairs.

As the sight of the upper floor came into full view, she saw her crush and the other boys, making small talk and sharing laughs. Oblivious o the actual fact on how awkward the boys were to know of her presence in the shop.

Nari taking a seat across from the boys, placing the container to an empty place on the table, she smiled to the boys warmly. Rushed to the safely of her sister-figure, Hyebin took only a few moments to sit closely next to Nari.

"So, are you guys all in the same class with Hyebin?" Nari started to make conversation with them, trying to ease the tension she could evidently see and sense.

"Just Jisung, but we're all friends since we're classmates with Hyebin's friends," Jaemin spoke, reaching for a piece of chip and munching on it.

"Oh, so you guys hand out a lot together then?" Nari asked, though she knew the answer from Hyebin's stories.

"I would say so. Like just sitting together with a large group of people, you know," Haechan said, humming to agree with himself on what he spoke.

As Nari began to make them all respond, it didn't take long for them to talk with each other like how they would at school. Laughing as they all finished the chips, the atmosphere of the upper level emitted enjoyment.

Hyebin managed to talk to her crush without flaring up her cheeks to a bright pink colour, and the boys didn't turn into major dorks trying to look cool in front of Hyebin. Nari just enjoying the interactions, her thoughts of being a tease to them long gone at the pure, innocence of the kids.

Time passed and the others began to come up and join in, bringing drinks and a few more snacks and desserts. Finally, when everyone was upstairs, the began to eat. Jaehyun, a tad bit clueless on what he should eat first, suddenly eyed the skewers that were in front of Ten. Slowly reaching for it, his hand was swatted away by Ten, who apparently had the thought of keeping the skewers to himself.

An hour of constant eating and chattering, they exchanged stories with Nari listening to the embarrassing stories Johnny told her in English, trying to not have the others understand his not-so-subtle roasting.

As Nari was having a fun time talking so casually with Johnny in English, Hyebin was being treated so well by the younger boys after the older ones eyed them every now and then to make not make the young girl feel out of place.

Along with that, a few pair of eyes had their gaze on the jolly Nari, feeling warm inside at the sight of her. And a great coincidence was the music playing throughout the shop somehow fitted the emotions they felt.

Your Eyes by Hoody and Jay Park softly heard in the background aside from the chattering fitted so well as the love-struck lads laid their eyes on hers. Laughing as she shook her head at the absurd story Johnny was telling her, she turned away and took a donut. Before turning back to continue listening to the ending of Johnny's story, she made eye contact with Yuta.

A huff of disbelief at the sudden action of Yuta, she laughed afterwards seeing how the man laughed at his own actions. Doyoung noticing the short flirting moment had plastered on a 'huh' look on his face.

"Oh don't be jealous," Yuta muttered to Doyoung, who still eyed the flirt. "As if she would like a flirt like you," Doyoung retorted, nudging the man next to him.

"Well, at least she won't think of me just the music recommendations friend. Like all I see is that you both sharing songs and that's just it," sarcastically Yuta said, as he took a spoonful of cake and shoved it into his mouth.

The clock showed how it was close to midnight, and the food on the table we all gone. The constant yawning of Hyebin was a clear indication of having to head back. Everyone stood up, the boys started to clean up the table, Nari taking the plastic container they bought earlier. Hyebin almost lifelessly walked down the stairs. Taking a clumsy step, she was close to slipping down the stairs if she didn't hold on Jeno's arm, seeing how the boy was next to her.

"Ah, sorry. I'm just feeling so sleepy," taking her had away from the boy's arm and rubbing her eyes. Forcing her eyes to be wide open, she continued her way down the steps, leaving the blushing boy frozen in the middle of the stairs.

"God move your fat ass, Jeno Lee," Haechan spoke, slightly pushing the boy to urge him to move.

Nari who had held the door open for the sleepy younger girl to walk out without bumping straight into the glass door could only smile at how the younger's cuteness.

Before she could head out herself, a voice called her, "Do you want some coffee to go?" Turning to the source, Yuta came into sight and walked closer to her with his hand in the pocket of his apron.

"I don't want to trouble you, you've already closed for the day," Nari replied as she mouthed to him, 'one sec'. Calling Hyebin who already leaned against her car, she gestured the younger to come and take the car key to rev up the engine.

"It wouldn't be difficult. What do you want? It's on me," he said, smiling at Nari. The sincere wide smile making Nari a bit guilty of not accepting the offer.

"I did think of staying up tonight, so why not," shrugged her shoulders, she accepted the offer. "A hot caramel macchiato, three shots, not two, I need all the caffeine to stay up," nodding at her words, Yuta quickly went to the back of the counter and prepared her drink.

In just a few minutes, the lad out to hand in the drink to Nari who had already stood out of her car, overlooking the monotonous street and sleeping Hyebin in the car. Handing the drink to Nari, Yuta said, " Here, one hot caramel macchiato, four shots."

A shocked expression at the increased number of espresso shots, she eyed the smiling lad. "Four because, three espresso shots," he began to explain as he pointed to the cup in her hand.

"And the extra one to help you to stay up, is this,"

Yuta kissed Nari on the cheeks before smiling sheepishly at the now taken aback Nari. Flustered on what to do, she avoided eye-contact with the man. Softly thanking him, she quickly went into the car. Placing the drink in the cup holder, she buckled up and made a quick drive away.

"She's so cute," Yuta said to himself. "Well, I'm finally a step ahead."
