10 - Just Ask Her Out!
She had a stoic expression on her, probably her mind still a bit tired from her classes in the afternoon. "Can you ask someone else? Plus, I can't speak Japanese except for, hello," a sigh let out as she glances to the back and saw how the line grew longer.
"Taeyong can speak some broken Japanese, " Winwin said which made Taeyong stop from his intense pastry organizing session.
"Taeyong, please. Like really, I don't feel like it. Plus the line's just getting longer," she pleaded with an obviously tired tone. Taeyong stared blankly at her, which made her retort, "Or I'll start calling you Febreeze. Your choice."
Passing the still filled baking tray to Doyoung, he mouth out a 'do it' to Doyoung before taking the cashier position. Purposely hitting Yuta who was still crouching down under the counter with his knee.
"Thank you, Febreeze," she thanked him in a teasing manner, which made him question why the forces of the universe are making him face this day.
"Welcome to NCT! How may I help you today?" he spoke, not in Japanese because he didn't want to make it seem like he was some kind of freak or stalker. Natsuno stuttered for a reply as she didn't understand the half end of his speech. Muttering random Japanese words, Taeyong asked, even though he knew the answer, "Japanese?"
Nodding furiously, Natsuno rejoiced at the thought of the barista knowing Japanese, "I'll like to have two noncoffee vanilla ice-blended drinks and a green tea cake please." As she said, a man came up next to her and had a shocked face at her order in Japanese, "I can speak Korean you know, why are you making the barista take your order in Japanese. I told you I would order right?"
"I just wanted to order myself for once. It's always you doing the ordering since we got here Kenta," she pouted, making the man side hug her. Laughing slightly, "Okay, okay, I'm sorry, baby. Now go find a seat and I'll pay." Ushering her away, the man, Kenta took out his wallet to pay for the order Taeyong punched in while the two talked.
Nari observed from a distance walked towards Taeil, who was looking at the scene and hugging a mop, "Looks like Yuta's first love is just a memory then."
Turning his head slightly to Nari before looking back at Natsuno and Kenta, "Yuta's probably has his heart filled with someone else."
"I believe we haven't talked before, right?" she held her hand out and Taeil shook her hands, "Taeil, the oldest."
"You know, I've only seen you guys for a few days and just look at the amount of drama there is, I don't have to binge watch any dramas online after meeting you lot," she chuckled and Taeil joined in.
Time passed and eventually, the younger ones came to work to help with the influx of people coming at night and before they knew it, the end of another working day came.
Sitting together with pastries on the table, the older guys began chattering. "Hate to break it to you, but your first love has forgotten about you," Jaehyun said as he munched on his food.
"It wasn't because I still like her!" spitefully replying. Remembering his very much embarrassing moment, Yuta buried his face in his hands. Talking out with a muffled voice due to his hands, "I've been through a lot today like my emotions were practically all over the place, cut me some slack guys."
"On another note, I heard Taeyong gave Nari a free drink today," Taeil said right before he started slurping his noodles.
"She still called me Febreeze though," Taeyong sighed as he glared to Yuta, the culprit who taught Nari his 'nickname'. "Take it as your cute nicknames then. Your crush playfully calling you Febreeze," Haechan spoke as he gave Taeyong two thumbs up.
"Wait, Taeyong likes Nari? Awww..." Jaemin said with everyone following in with their obnoxious 'aww' which only causes Taeyong to get up and get himself a bottle of cold water.
"Just ask her out!" Jisung shouted, thunderous clapping and shouting followed, in agreement with the youngest's statement.
"Says the person who has to be saved by Nari in front of his crush. And you lot," his finger moving around, pointing towards the younger ones. "You all ran away when Hyebin came, hiding with mad blushing on your faces."
Taking back his seat, Taeyong took big gulps of the cold water before placing the bottle on the table and devouring the chicken puff that was already half eaten.
"Plus, I don't think Taeyong would do that," Mark said after sipping on his coke. "Because I think he isn't the only one who likes her," Mark continued and heads turned to look at him, especially the younger ones.
"You like her too, Mark?" Haechan questioned and Johnny replied, "Mark's too in love with his own writing, it would be a miracle is he finally likes someone, to be honest." Laughter emitted from the group before they continued munching on their food.
"I mean, from what I see, Yuta might have a bit of liking for her," Doyoung uttered and in a quick second, Yuta retorted with a comeback statement, "Oh, as if I wasn't the one who thoughtlessly took out her earphones and listened together as if you guys were close."
"At least I wasn't the one who became a chicken in front of her when my first love suddenly queued behind her!" Doyoung glared straight into Yuta's eyes.
"Oh yeah? At least I didn't get called by the brand of cleaning product!" Yuta mindlessly replied, with Taeyong looking at him, dumbfounded he suddenly got called out. "Why am I being inserted into this?" his expression screamed out the unamused feeling he was feeling.
"I don't know if this is relevant, but Nari gave me her number before she left," in a slow monotonous tone, Mark said.
"How did you get her number?" Jaehyun, who sat next to Mark questioned. Humming, Mark tried recalling the memory from the evening, "So, I saw her typing something on her laptop and I felt curious because she was typing so fast. And she told me she was writing a story," he munched on his food, stopping in the middle of his story, both to put his memory into words and to fill up his hunger.
"I started talking on how I loved writing and she showed her writing. She asked for mine but I left my journal at home, so she told me to send her the pictures of my writing. Hence, that was how I got her number," the lad ended his speech and quickly squished by Yuta and Doyoung who hugged the boy, wanting the 'precious' digits.
It didn't take long before the group of three grew and ended up with the older guys grouping together, some wanting to grab Mark's phone, some trying to pull the guys away from Mark while laughing at the insanity of the situation.
The younger ones enjoyed their food joyfully, ignoring the older ones' rampage. But it didn't last long before they were in a verbal fighting and whining when Renjun said, "Hyebin asked me to help her with Chinese."
"What did I do to deserve this?!"
