I groaned in frustration as I gave up. Sleeping wasn't the thing I could do. I took my mobile just to see one message from one chat. Caroline. She sent a 'hi'. I dropped a 'hello' not knowing what else could I type.

In a few moments she replied.

Caroline - You awake?

Me - Yes, So?

Caroline - Okay

Me - ?

She went offline. "Such a weirdo," I chuckled. Wow. I almost forgot how to smile. I haven't laughed since hours.

Fortunately, I was not alone. I went downstairs, opened the main door and asked the officer to come inside.

"You aren't asleep yet?" she asked furrowing her brows. "I tried but failed," I replied, signalling her to come in. She did the same.

"So what's your name?" she asked as she sat on the couch.

"Jennifer. Jennifer Miller"

We made an idle chit chat until the doorbell rang. "You sit here, I'll see," said the officer. She peered through the peekhole, turned around and said, "it's a girl-" "Girl? Lemme see," I said with giving her a suspicious look.

Caroline again. I opened the door to see her standing, fiddling with her fingers. "I-I couldn't sleep," she spluttered. I welcomed her inside. She sat near the officer while I went to the kitchen.

Caroline's POV

"Won't your parents be worrying?" The officer asked. "Nah, I live alone. Benefits of living alone," I replied. "Oh I see," she answered.

Jennifer's POV

I returned with three mugs of coffee. I handed the mugs to both of them. "You will have a sleepless night if you'll drink coffee," said the officer. "I'm not going to sleep, either way," I replied, taking a sip.

"It's 4:30 am," said the officer. "I'll go now," Caroline said as she stood up. We bid her a goodbye and then I headed back to my room, while the officer continued her duty.

The sun rose up. The time was around six. It was a sleepless night. Dark circles were formed around my eyes. To overcome the dizziness, I went to the bathroom splashed some cold water on my face. Luckily, I felt a bit refreshed. Then I brushed my teeth, took a bathe and got ready for a new day with new 'adventures'.

"Good morning," I greeted the officer. "Good morning," she beamed. "Look at the dark circles formed around your eyes," she pointed out.

"I thought that it was barely visible so I just ignored it."
"You are wrong"
"Just give me a moment"

I hurried to my room. Usually I don't wear makeup but today I put on some concealer to hide those ridiculous marks. To my surprise, it was better now.

"Officer, you can come back in the evening," I told her, "I'm going out."
"Okay, but be attentive," said the officer as she went on her way. I locked the door and began my journey to the park.

I was ten steps away from my destination when I felt my phone vibrate. A call from Jade. I recieved the call and kept walking. "look who's coming," said Lance standing with the other three in the park. They kept mocking at my late timing while I was busy on the call.

"Hey Jen"
"Yes Jade?"
"Where's the park, y'all were talking about?"
"I'll send you the location"
"Okay"

I hanged up and immediately got attacked by tons of questions. They were mainly about the last night. Whether I could sleep or not. I can bet, Caroline was the one to spread the news. "Look, Jade's going to come too," I told the rest. "Now you look behind you," signalled Kevin, "she's already there."
