‹ CHAPTER 10 ›
"S-Samantha...she's no more."
"WHAT?!" quaked the blonde, sarcastically.
"Lame one," scoffed the girl.
"You drunk?" questioned the raven haired guy.
As expected, the rest didn't believe my statement. Pressing my lips together, I signalled the witness. She nodded and then delicately took out her tablet to present the live news in front of the others.
Breaking news
A teen girl got murdered ruthlessly. Not just the girl, even her parents too. The police found a handful of confetti all around the teen's body. It is believed that the same psycho killer disguised as a clown, is on the leave. Perhaps he would kill each one of the audience attending his show if the police fails this time too.
Silence. Not a single word was uttered.
"Believe me now?"
"..."
Jade put her tablet back and glanced at the ashen faces of the three. "This ain't a joke," she said, wearing a grave expression.
"Y-you mean Samantha is no more with u-us," stuttered Caroline. "That's what I've been trying to tell you," I replied hoarsely. The truth left everyone stunned.
With a faraway look in his eyes, Kevin muttered, "You were not drunk..."
They all looked depressed.
The glimmering droplet escaping from the corner of Caroline's eye stated the value of the dead girl.
"Let's just accept the truth and move on," stated Jade.
Fuming with anger, Lance replied to her statement, "You saying to move on? You think it's that easy? Plus, didn't you hear the news? It said that the clown will kill everyone. Yet you act like nothing happened?"
Jade opened her mouth to say but unfortunately, she fell short of words.
Our whole day passed like this. Mourning over the death of a friend. We didn't even realise that it started turning dark. It was now the time for us to return to our respective residence.

???'s POV
I was sitting at my desk, doing some paperwork when my mobile rang. I glanced over it to see a call from the head of the police department. Without wasting any other moment I hastily picked it up.
"So...you think you'll solve it this time?" he asked.
"Yes, sir. I surely will."
"This is your first time doing this duty, isn't it?"
"...yes."
"I hope you won't disappoint me. Save the lives of those 'targets'." his voice pleaded.
"Sure thing sir."
"Ok then. I'll leave everything to you now."
"Thank you sir."
I hanged up. Rubbing my temples, I continued with my paperwork.

JENNIFER'S POV
Following the same schedule today, I threw myself on my bed and wrapped two blankets around my whole body tightly.
"Don't just don't.... everything's fine...." I kept assuring and re-assuring myself.
It was then when an idea struck my mind. Read. Read some books. I stood up and hunted through my bookshelf to find a good book to keep my mind distracted. Fortunately, I was able to do so.
"......and then we left for Iceland to find the ancient artefact-" I murmured softly but all of a sudden, my phone started ringing.
An unknown number.
I did the the thing which I should've never done.
