I sit in the passenger seat,
My earbuds in,
fingers subconsciously tapping the beat,
I stare out the window into the dark January night,
Rushing past the palms and pines,
Watching the shadows dance in the streetlight,
Suddenly the road goes black,
Illuminated only by our headlights,
And my mind starts to drift back
Back to a better time,
Back to a better place in my life,
Back to you

I realize now I haven't seen you in days,
And this shouldn't be cause for worry,
But of course I do anyway,
Because the last time you were M.I.A.
I got a call
It said you had moved away

I grieved like I had lost you for sure,
I truly thought I had,
But you walked back through the door,
After being ripped away from your home,
Your head got screwed up,
You thought you were alone,
But you got treatment,
You got better,
And you said after everything you've done,
You still wouldn't repent,

I opened my eyes,
Found the car pulling onto my road,
And I tried not to cry,

Because although I'm home

I still have to wonder
