Mitch let out a long sigh as he saw Avi approaching.

The last few days had been extremely stressful, he didn't even get some time for himself and somebody was always in his way as he tried to get a break, which was kinda annoying.

People surely hated him for how rude he was acting by then, but his week had already been too long and there was no end in sight.

"Mitch?" he heard the too familiar deep voice call out for him and Mitch's pace increased just a tiny bit as he walked down the hallway.

He could be at home, he could eat dinner or relax with a nice hot bath, but no, he was still inside the office with no way out.

"Avi," Mitch replied and forced himself to look and act somewhat civil as he suddenly turned around to the man.

"Kirstie just called," the nuisance started and Mitch was so close to crying with relief. "She said she needed advice from you."

A small smile had formed on Mitch's lips at the thought of finally being allowed to leave, but when he slowly nodded Avi didn't go away again.

"Has she said where she needs me?" He asked and watched as Avi's green eyes nervously scooted around the room. "Should I drive to her home?"

"I think she just wanted you to call her, but she mentioned something about a dinner tomorrow and both of you being Queens," Avi replied and his eyes landed back on Mitch, roaming over his body. Mitch didn't like that, but Avi didn't seem to notice. "Although I didn't understand that."

"It's about us looking nice," Mitch explained shortly. "So I'll call her now and she and I will meet tomorrow before the dinner."

"That's about right," Avi nodded and when he smiled fine lines appeared around his eyes. "Maybe the day after your dinner we could -"

"I don't think so," Mitch interrupted him and didn't even feel sorry for it. "I've had so much stress happening to me lately that I just need some time to relax all by myself."

"Okay, right then. Maybe next time," Avi murmured and Mitch knew there would be a next time pretty soon.

With a genuine smile, he walked past Avi, grabbed his coat and his keys and left the building.

When he finally arrived at Kirstie's place, despite what he had told Avi, he knocked on the door and held his notepad up as soon as she opened it just so he could make another tally.

"But it's only been a few months," she giggled as Mitch entered her apartment and flopped down on her couch, so tired, but wide awake. "Does he keep using excuses to talk to you?"

"Your call was it this time," he nodded and finally put his notepad away. "One hundred and two excuses and we're still counting."
