Chapter 8: You Look Like You Smooch Camels

"Whoza guud boii? Yes you are! Yesh juu are," I squish Comfort's face. His tail was wagging with such force, that his whole body was trembling. I made it a point to feed him something everyday, and he was starting to look much healthier.

"One sec baby boy," I scratch his head, taking out my phone.

"Dude where are you? We all are at Max's," Alex says. "I'll be there in five," I answer and hang up.

"I gotta go," I stand up. "Bye Comfo!" I wave at him, but he drooped his ears and sank on the ground whimpering.

"Don't do that," I whine. "I'll come back tomorrow, I promise. And I'll stay longer, okay?" I pat his head. He puts his paws over his eyes.

Dramatic dog..

I get up and quickly hurry towards Max's house. The boys were goofing around. Luke was jumping back, as Max tries to punch him. "Hello ladies," I greet.

"Let's go, let's go, let's go," Max skips eagerly.

"Yeah, he needs blood or he'll die," Ian shakes his head at Max, in disapproval.

"Look, it's either them or it's you," Max cracks his knuckles.

"We should really go," Ian says to me. "We don't wanna miss them."

......................................

Loud music, sweaty teenagers, it looked like a typical party. We had entered in slow motion, in perfect V formation, until Ian stumbled and fell over Alex. "Everytime," Max groans. "Guys we need to make an impression." Thankfully everyone was too drunk to notice.

I won't go in detail over the fight. It was smooth, because Tim was in the middle of getting baked. His reflexes were poor, and I took my sweet time, damaging his face and bones. "Don't you ever use the word faggot, you wanking piece of shit," I had threatened into his ear when the fight was over. I doubt if he heard it, because he was almost unconscious.

Obviously his friends had tried to stop, but that's what my friends were for. One guy did reach me though, and I got a busted lip while fighting both of them. Alex, Luke and I watch as some kids, carry the beaten up dudes away.

"I hope he behaves from now on," Luke mutters.

"A small part of me, hopes he'll do this again, so I get to do this again," Alex grins motioning at the battleground which was actually a huge room with dull red light.

I had gone into deep thought. My mind was finally thinking, and asking logical questions. Why I went through all this trouble for a boy? That too an insanely irritating boy, with soft lips.

"Hey guys," Houston greets us nervously. I'm not surprised, that the host of the party took this long, to interfere. "We're going," Alex assures him.

"Oh no," he laughs. It was so fake. "Stay. Please grab some drinks, and enjoy."

"Houston, we need you outside," a boy informs, pulling his arm. "Excuse me," he smiles cordially. "But please stay, as long as you like."

Houston is one of those diplomatic guys, who manages to stay on good sides of both enemies. Plus us staying, would give him something to brag about for weeks.

We go to Max and Ian, who were talking to someone. "C'mon let's go," I say to their backs, not wanting to stay here.

"Holy shit! What happened to you guys?" I look at the person in surprise. It was Lia, looking hot like a red pepper, in a bodycon dress. I eye her curves impressed.

"Oh yeah, look who I found?" Max says scowling.

"The one and only," she smiles cheekily at us. She looks behind us, her eyebrows furrowing.

"I'll take that's your handiwork," she says, pointing towards the groaning bunch of guys, leaving the party.

"Yep," Ian says proudly.

"Not gonna ask," she raises her hands.

"Let's drink a few beers. Houston had politely asked us all to stay and enjoy a bit. Let's oblige, since we crashed his party" Alex chuckles. I was looking around. If Lia's here that means...

"Dylan, pass these," Max pushes a carton towards me.

"Where's Julian? He must be with you," I ask Lia, handing out bottles to everyone.

"He's busy with some guy, in the back" she replies, accepting the bottle. My hands wish to dig themselves into the carton. I open the bottle, and down half of it. Ian starts a drinking game. But I could barely focus.

"I'll be back. I think I saw Emma," I lie getting up. The boys say some incoherent response, as I walk away. I lick my lips irritated, spotting Julian kissing a guy. They were too close for my liking, wedged into the small space between two walls.

All I wanted was to go, and pull that guy away, and punch his face. But I knew, I couldn't do that. I see Oliver sitting on the table nearby. He was in my bio class, and more than often helped me with classwork.

"Oliver, I need you to do something mate," I hold his shoulder.

"What Dylan?" he groans. "You should start drawing your own diagrams."

"Yeah sure," I smile sweetly. "Look, I'll give you this five dollar note, if you go distract that guy," I point at Julian's kisser.

"For real?" I nod. "Done bro," he says, taking the note getting up.

"Oh and Oliver," I say. "By distract I mean, take away that racoon looking dude miles away from this party." He shrugs and goes towards them. I sit down, watching the show unfold.

Oliver pokes the guy's back, and he's kind enough to take his tongue out of Julian's throat, and turn around. They both start talking, making Julian frown. Oliver takes out the note I gave, and secretly shows it to the boy. I smirk at his quick wit. He's probably bribing him, bluffing that he'll split the money with him.

I sigh contently and drink my beer. Julian watches the two walk away, in disbelief. Then he starts cussing and making offensive hand signals. "Oh Julian, Julian.." I tut in disapproval.

My face is a picture of satisfaction, as I watch him step out from the enclosed space, and stretch his hands. Any moment now, he'll spot Max and others, and he'll join them. Then I can stroll in casually, acting like I didn't just play a dirty trick.

My face falls as I see him making his way deeper into the house.

He's going to look for some other dude..

"Why? I am right here?" I almost cry, watching him disappear. I run a hand through my hair, frustrated as fuck.

"I give up," I mumble in defeat, dawdling back to the boys, who were vigorously playing a game. I couldn't even find the energy, to fake enthusiasm.

............................

"Are you high?"

Luke quickly wipes the grin off his face, and shakes his head no. I watch him in curiosity as he sits down with us. He looked weirdly blissful. There's a loud crash, making us all jump in alert. Lia had bumped into a table, which fell down. But she barely noticed. She was laughing at Julian.

"Row row row your car, gently with the beach," Julian sings sloppily, coming into view. He is about to fall forward. I quickly get up and catch him.

"Are you high?" Luke bends his knees, to look closely at Lia's face. She was smiling widely.

"Like a freaking kite," Julian yells beside me, swaying dangerously. I eye him cautiously, in case he loses his balance again. Lia laughs loudly.

"They both are high. I can barely see the blue in her eyes" Luke sighs pinching his eyebrows together. I turn to look at Julian's face. His face lights up, as he finally registers it's me.

"Dylan! Hi! How are you?" he waves excitedly. "I've been better," I mumble, holding his hand because he was falling backward.

"Why would you push me?" he pouts. "Sorry, I tend to do that," I grit out. Suddenly he holds my face murmuring, "I like boys with strong jaws." Thankfully everyone else was busy laughing at Lia, who was educating them over Unicorns, to see Julian tracing my jaw.

"Julian.." I warn lowly, removing his hands.

"Why so serious?" he pouts, crossing his hands around my neck. I hold his waist, so he doesn't slip to the ground.

"You smell terrific," he mutters, his face in my neck. I gulp, myself getting distracted by his cotton candy smell.

"Oh shit," he slaps a hand over his mouth, pulling back. "I forgot to give Christie the money! Lia we need to go," he says anxiously.

"Unicorn hunt!" she squeals and they both disappear into the crowd. For a moment the five of us just look at each other.

"We should go look for them?" Ian asks.

"Yes," Luke snaps out of his daze, frowning at himself. "Yes, we should."

.................................

"Dad what do you do, when you are confused?" I ask, shoving froot loops into my mouth. He pauses eating, and places the back of his hand on my forehead.

"Dad, I'm serious," I snap, lightly slapping his hand away.

"I'm serious too," he mutters. "Why are you asking questions like that?"

"Like that?"

"Well," he shrugs. "Your questions normally consist of, lets see.. hot girls, latex disasters, jam and butter smoothie," he says cringing. "Oh.. Taylor Swift's latest b-"

"Okay okay," I stop him angrily. "Haha, very funny. Dylan asks creative questions," I glare at him. "But seriously, tell me what do you do when you are like, confused out of your mind?"

This morning I could have gone to Max's house for breakfast, but I refused not wanting to see Julian again. The decisions I made around him, didn't make sense to me.

"Hmm.." dad says munching his cereals. "I usually sit back and close my eyes, tracing the route and source of confusion. Then I ask myself, why it's bothering me so much?"

"What load of crap?" I frown. "See, that's why you are the older generation," I scoff, making him smack my head.

"Why do you ask though? Which girl made you so confused, that you had to ask such drastic questions?" my dad asks curiously.

If it was a girl, I'll still understand..

I shake my head, getting up and going into the kitchen to wash my bowl. Water spills onto my boxers, making me sigh in irritation.

"Dylan," dad says, as I go towards my room. "Seriously, you will find answers here," he taps my chest. "Just calm down, and think."

I nod. "That's why you are my, old wise man," I grin, going over and kissing his cheek.

"I'll be in my den," he calls after me, making me laugh loudly. Den was his keyword for his study, because he thought of himself, as the Lion of the House.

I jump onto my bed, and start to think like dad said. My mind brought up images of me and Julian kissing.

"Not this," I mutter frowning and try harder. This time I see, Julian laughing and running away from Lia. "No," I groan, frowning harder, channeling all my energy, to one point in my brain. My mind brings up a naked Julian, and I snap my eyes open.

"What the fuck?" I mumble, scratching my head.

.............................

"Oh yeah, well my ass never liked your face," Julian snaps, making me scoff loudly. We were quarrelling shamelessly, and our friends were casually enjoying, not even stopping us.

"Well sure. I mean, after all it's your ass. I don't expect it, to have high standards. You must take, what you get," I say with fake-sympathy.

"Yep, he sure is a little slut," Lia coos, pinching Julian's cheeks who was glaring at me. I sweetly bat my lashes at him, and bite into an apple.

So don't judge me, but I was a little bored at lunch. Hence, I had picked up a fight with Julian, because.. why not.

"You know, even before you looked like a, horse with lip fillers," Julian muses. "And now with that cut, you look like you smooch camels in your free time," he gags. I smile forcefully. I take painful punches for this moron, and he mocks me over them.

"Say Julian, do you like sharpies?"

He grits his teeth and looks away. He had been nagging over my head, how the ink didn't come off easy last time, and his chest was red from scrubbing too hard. Julian meets my eye and narrows it threateningly. I glance around the table, to see everyone had lost interest in us. So I smirk at him, bite my lip teasingly and give him a wink.

He looks away gulping, his ears turning red. I lean back satisfied, and take out my phone.

"Dylan here." I look up to see, Julian giving me ten dollar note.

Lunch had ended, only me, Alex, Lia and Julian remained. Yesterday at lunch, Julian was short on cash and he wanted to buy some chocolates. He obviously first asked Lia, who gave him a few dollars. He needed more so I said, "I have some," and I gave him ten dollars.

"Are you trying to insult me?" I ask feeling offended.

"What?!" Julian exclaims. "No! I was just returning, what I borrowed."

"Julian it's fine," Alex intervenes. "Won't you do the same for Dylan, if he had a problem?"

"Yes of course, but that's.."

"Exactly. So don't bother," he smiles.

"Yeah okay, but it's not like we have any relation, to have such understanding," Julian points out.

"I am your friend," I frown.

"No you are not," he scoffs.

"Yes I am. I am your friend!" I snap.

Yes I am. I am your friend! My voice recording plays on Julian's phone.

Yes I am. I am your friend! He plays it again, smiling teasingly.

"You said, I am your friend," he grins goofily. I roll my eyes.

"Did you hear that Lia? He thinks of me as his friend. He doesn't hate me," Julian jumps happily. "Shut up," I mumble sinking in my chair, while Lia and Alex chuckle.

"Dylan," Julian says suddenly serious. I look at him. "You are also my friend."

My lips tip up, on their own, while Julian plays that stupid recording again. Lia and Alex go forward, while Julian stuffs the note in my pocket.

"You oaf! I'll-"

"-kiss me until it's daylight?" Julian interrupts. "Okay!" he gives a bright smile. I close my eyes, in irritation. I take a deep breath to calm down. Julian was watching in amusement.

"I really irritate you, don't I?" he grins.

"When I finally fuck you, I'll be using a gag," I mutter, storming past him.

"Hey! You can't just say things like that!" Julian screams at my back, his voice all shaky.
