Chapter 3: Remove Your Sweater

Nice hair. Nice face. Nice body.

I check out the girl, in front of the flower shop across the road, bending over and examining roses. I run a hand through my hair, quickly check my breath and start walking towards the girl. I am about to cross the street when I bump into someone.

"Sorry.." I mutter absentmindedly to the back of the person, eager to reach the hot girl.

"I'm sorry too. I wasn't looking."

I glance at the person who had now turned around. I stop in my tracks as I see it was that boy from before.

"Oh hey Julian? Isn't it?"

"Hey! You must be Ian," he grins.

"Close" I give a forced smile. "It's Dylan." He gives me an apologetic smile. I look across the road, and the hot girl had vanished.

Damn it..

"What are you doing here Julian?" I ask casually, feeling a little irritated on missing a hot date.

He laughs, "Oh I was just exploring on my own. Then I saw that-" I look to where he was pointing. It was a billboard of Calvin Klein, with a very much nude male model. "-and I just stopped."

"You are gay?" Julian nods.

"Really? You don't look gay?" I mumble.

"Excuse me?" he asks looking offended.

"Oh no!" I panic. "I meant, you look like a regular teenager.." I desperately explain.

"Because gay teenagers look abnormal?" he raises his eyebrows.

"Oh my God! No! Shit, I should just stop talking.." I drag a hand over my face. To my surprise, Julian chuckles.

"Relax dude," he assures me, patting my shoulder. "You obviously haven't met many gay people." I pull on my collar, feeling really hot. He suddenly, pulls me into him.

"Dumbass.." he mutters, looking after the man who ran past us. "You okay?"

I nod wordlessly, not trusting myself to speak. I was still feeling heady from the cotton candy smell. I look down the footpath, to check if any more runners are coming along, so I could again step into him and take a whiff of that cotton candy scent.

"Dylan?"

"Yeah, I'll get going.."

"I was hoping, you would offer to accompany me," Julian grins.

"Nope, I don't like you that much," I shake my head.

"Okay?" he frowns, his smile dropping a little.

I push past him and storm off towards my home.

"Hey Dylan," my dad greets me when I barge into my house. I mutter some response and rush to my room. I lie on my bed thinking why the fuck did I do that. I am a nice person. I am a friendly person. Then why the hell did I treat him like that?

...............................

"Max! Ava flirted with me!" I jump around Max.

"Woah, for real?" Max closes his locker.

"Yes! And best part, I didn't like it. So Ian saying that I have a crush on her, is not true? Right?"

"Hey Max," we are interrupted by Julian. "And er.. Hi to you too Dylan" he mumbles to me. I roll my eyes. I could feel my mood changing.

"What do you want?" I ask bored.

"Actually I wanted to talk to Max. Have you seen Lia?" he asks turning to Max. Max shrugs.

"You are gay alright" I laugh. "If I had a best friend, as hot as Lia, I would have made a move on her ages ago" I smirk leaning against the lockers.

"Yeah, you are right," Julian smiles. My skin claws with irritation on not getting a more violent reaction.

"Max are you coming to gym?" I ask.

"Nope. I have to work," he sighs.

"Julian why don't you come with me?"

"Me?" he asks looking surprised.

"Weren't you the one who wanted me to show you around?"

Julian opens his mouth to respond, but I cut him off. "Meet me at the gym behind Macy's at 5. Don't be late," I warn, going to my next class with Max.

I hear him mutter something like, "That's not even showing me around!"

.......................

"Oh hello Mr. Don't-be-Late!" Julian sasses. I ignore him and walk inside. I had purposely arrived fifteen minutes late.

"Hey! What is your problem?" Julian grabs my wrist.

"Should I interpret this as one of your gay actions?" I eye his hand.

"What?! I bloody grabbed your wrist. It's not like I cupped your balls!"

"You could cup my balls," I suggest in a sexy whisper. I chuckle on seeing goosebumps lining his arm. "C'mon. Let's see what you got," I toss him a dumbbell which he catches in the last moment, looking at me like I was crazy.

"Remove your sweater," I order.

"Why?"

I step forward looking him in the eye. My hands go around his waist, and in one quick motion I remove his sweater. "Don't ask questions," I growl lowly. Before he could respond, I shove the other dumbbell into his hands, "Give me 20 cross hammer curl."

"What?"

I give an exaggerated sigh and show him the procedure. "Oh this.. I know this, but I didn't know the name," he laughs at himself and starts to workout. I make him do bench press, reverse flye, renegade row and he does it all. The boy looked thin, but he had an excellent stamina. His biceps were well defined, as his sleeves clung tightly to them.

"Now what?" he pants, getting up from the floor after doing floor press.

"Now you run," I mutter, shoving my hands into the pocket of my jacket and walking towards the treadmill. Might as well, make my earlier dream come true.

"C'mon," I pat the machine, making Julian's lustful stare at a guy nearby break. He groans and climbs up. "Ouch!" he whines, as I slap his hand away from the buttons. I set him up for a jog. Gradually, I increase the speed.

"Dylan.." he calls out scared, as I increase the pace. I ignore him and start playing around, increasing decreasing the incline, sometimes lowering the speed, sometimes increasing it.

"Dude what the fuck!" he exclaims rolling off the machine and falling down when I increased the speed too much.

"Don't be a baby" I scold, switching off the treadmill and walking towards the exit.

"Baby?!" he exclaims, grabbing my hand for the second time today. "I could have been hurt!"

"Maybe.. Maybe not.." I shrug, picking my bag and walking outside the gym.

"Do you have a problem with me?" he asks standing in front of me. I ignore and go around him, scrolling through my phone.

"Fine!" he mumbles and goes the other way.

"You want coffee?" I call after him, making him look at me in disbelief.

"Are you seriously expectin-"

"There'll be Choco-chip pancakes," I tempt him. He clenches his jaw and starts walking in my direction.

"I'm only coming because of the pancakes" he mumbles walking beside me. I look the other way to hide my smile.

.........................

I watch in amusement as Julian puts one-fourth of the pancake in his mouth, and then struggle to chew it.

"You must be very hungry," I comment, chewing my pancakes in leisure.

"Of course I am hungry," he frowns, swallowing. "You just made me workout, like I had my Bellator MMA finals tomorrow."

"You tire easily."

"Gee thanks.." Julian smiles sarcastically. "After about 3 hours of slow death, you made an calculated conclusion."

"Here," I pour some chocolate sauce over his plate. He looks at me in doubt.

"What? I am nice guy," I innocently smile. Julian grunts and finishes his pancakes. I push my plate in front of him.

"I'm not hungry," I mutter.

"More food for me," he cheers happily, digging into my plate. I eye him, as I sip my coffee. His hair was combed to one side as they brushed against his left cheek. I excuse myself, and go to the bathroom before I did something stupid. I take a piss, wash my hands and fix my hair before returning.

"I'll pay," I say hurriedly, as I see the waiter standing with the bill.

"Well you should, after you tried to kill me," Julian sasses. I ignore him and pay the bill.

"I'm not happy with myself," Julian muses walking beside me. I look at him sideways.

"You see, I'm an attention-loving person," he continues. "And you've done nothing but ignore me most of the time. And yet here I am. Still."

A man walks past us with his dog, reminding me how I had a packet of dog biscuits in my bag. My thoughts are interrupted as Julian moves closer to me as a bunch of kids run by.

"Why do you reek of cotton candy?"

"Reek?"

"Yes, reek" I reply.

"I don't know what you are talking about. It might be the sweat from all the bossy workout." I don't respond but keep looking forward.

"If you have so much problem, why are you roaming with me?" Julian snaps after a while.

"I never wanted to," I shrug. "You are the one following me since the restaurant. I can't tell you to go away since I don't own this road."

"Wow.." he laughs in disbelief. "I'll make this real easy for you Dylan," he spat out, storming away. Instead of feeling like a horrible person, I check out his ass.

What's wrong with me?
