Zack paced, holding May close. He wanted to go after Warren, but he knew May would want to go with. Warren would never forgive him if Lyra gott away with May. He wouldn't forgive himself even if Warren did forgive him.

Pacing more, Zack didn't notice he was doing his nervous habit of clearing his throat every five seconds, nor did he notice that May had fallen asleep. He was preoccupied with the fact that tonight was also the night the police would be questioning May. She was already stressed; maybe he should cancel?

No, they had said the deadline was today, he couldn't push it off any further, but what about May?

Zack looked towards where Warren was. He was beginning to get worried; wouldn't he be back by now?

Giving May to Willow, he sighed. "Take care of her, make sure she isn't worried. If we aren't back, send in a distress call to Brandon Hoseki, the principal. The police will be here in about an hour to question May, please make sure she doesn't get too upset, if she does tell them to wait until Warren and I get back."

Willow nodded, taking May. "Did something happen to Mr. Warren?"

Zack sighed. "That's what I'm worried about."

Willow, confused, tilted her head to the side. "What do you mean?"

"I'll explain later, I have to go."

Zack quickly left, running through the woods.

May rubbed her eyes. "Papa?"

"Hey, May." Willow gave a small smile.

May gasped and tried to wiggle out of her arms. 

Willow gently set her down. "Whoa, Whoa, what's wrong?"

May stared at her for a second. "... Not her." She then reached upwards.

Willow picked her back up. "Let's get back to the dorms."

May nodded.

The two got to the dorms, and Willow set May on the couch in the common room. "So, the police are going to come in. They're going to ask you about... Uh..."

May nodded. "I know. Dad told me." Looking up, she said quietly, "He said he would be here."

Willow felt her heart drop to her feet. Those eyes, so innocent, were glistening with tears.

"Why isn't he here?"

Willow gave May a hug. "I'm sure he'll be here, we just need to wait."

May squirmed. She didn't want to wait.

Looking at the door, May looked at Willow, who was distracted with picking at the pillow on the couch. May looked to the door again. Her pupils narrowed to slits. The door was closed. She looked at the window, ears twitching, calculating the distance. Whiskers spriuted from her face, clothes turned to black fur. Suddenly, in one fluid move she shifted into a cat and leaped for the window, running through the forest.

"Wait!" Willow shouted, running after her.

It was too late.

Narrowing her eyes, May knew only one thing:

She didn't want to be the weak one anymore.

She wanted to save her family.
