May was fading in and out of sleep. Zack was carrying her and Warren was on the lookout. Warren had gotten a feeling that May's family wasn't alone in their plans, so he wanted to make sure they kept May safe until she got adopted.

As they were crossing the road, Zack felt a chill go down his spine. Someone's watching me...

Quickly nudging Warren, Zack whispered something into his ear. Warren nodded and looked around, then took a different direction.

Walking around town, the two delayed getting to their house as long as possible, but Zack still felt the unsettling feeling of being watched. Eventually, they got to the school. Warren made sure May was doing okay before they went into the dorm building.

"It's really quiet at night, isn't it?" Warren asked, quietly so he didn't wake the students.

Zack have a small nod. "I'm just glad Rieley and Samson were willing to substitute."

Warren nodded. Taking May, he walked down the hall to the elevator. Zack followed and pressed the button that went to their floor. The two got to the teacher dorm.

"May needs a bed." Zack mentioned. Warren nodded. 

"I know. For now, she can take ours. I have a sleeping bag. You make sure she doesn't fall off."

Zack nodded. "Okay."

The three were soon all asleep. 

Later...

It was the next day. Zack and Warren had decided to homeschool May. This meant she would be able to come with them while they taught, and she could do her work in the classroom.

Now they just needed to wake her up.

Gently shaking her, Warren quietly said "May, it's time to get up." After she woke up and stretched, Warren handed her some new clothes to wear. "Here, I got them last night. The clothes you are wearing are dirty."

Leaving the room to let her change, Warren began to make breakfast while Zack took a shower. When Zack came out, Warren took his shower. When he came back, May was in the kitchen. She was half asleep at the table. Chuckling, Warren gave her breakfast, then put Zack's breakfast on the table. (Zack was grooming his fur in his wolf form.) Giving himself something to eat, he nibbles on his breakfast while grading a few tests from yesterday that Reiley had given to him.

Zack came in and quickly ate his breakfast, then he ran to his room to get changed into clothes. After coming back, the three walked to the school, which wasn't too far, at seven in the morning.

Warren showed May around the school. He introduced her to everyone. Everyone seemed to like her. The only person who scared her was Reiley, but that was just because May had never seen a shade before, and May didn't know shade's could bend over backwards among other insane body contortions.

Taking May back to the classroom, Warren put her in the corner where the carpet was very soft, set down a blanket, and gave her a video player that would show her educational videos, as well as some colored pencils, some markers and pens, some pencils, and some paper.

May happily drew in the corner. The first few students that typically came in thirty minutes early came in. 

Shade, Willow, Allison, Harvey, Carol, Flame, Enyanaida, and Terra were there. Marking them down as early, Warren noted to himself that he was going to have to give them some sort of award. As usual, Shade fell asleep at his desk, Willow and Carol worked on work, Allison and Harvey were being oblivious to their feelings for each other during a conversation, and Terra, Flame, and Enyanaida were joking around and being annoying.

It wasn't long before someone noticed May.

"Hey, who's that?" Enyanaida asked. "She's in Warren's comfort corner."

Warren's comfort corner? Well, it's a better nickname than last year's nickname for that spot.

May hid in the blanket, and Warren sighed. "I won't explain until the whole class is here, I don't want to have to tell the story a million times."

Zack began to help Warren grade the tests. The typical morning shenanigans continued, and more than once Warren had to use his scarf to keep a student from falling off a table or breaking a window. It was a pretty normal morning.

Frost and Ember came in at around 7:45, then Max, Sam, and everyone except Jason came in at 7:50. Jason got into the classroom at exactly 8:00 just before the bell rang and quickly sat down.

As usual, as soon as the bell rang, Shade startled awake.

"Nobody tardy today, that's good. Okay, I'm pretty sure you're all wondering about the child in the back. May, come here."

May ran over.

"This is May. Zack and I recently rescued her, and she'll be staying with us until she gets adopted."

May waved shyly and hid in Warren's scarf, and the class immediately fell in love.

"You can go back now," Warren said quietly. "Finish the alphabet video."

May went back to the corner and hid in the blanket to watch the video. As usual, Warren taught his class and Zack jumped in when Warren didn't know how to get someone to understand. They soon got to the topic of rescues.

"During a rescue, you need to make sure the person you are saving feels safe and calm, keep them safe and calm, and assess their injuries. For those of you with medical magic types, that's easy, but for those of you without that magic, you will need to know how to diagnose, say, a head injury, or malnourishment, or a broken bone."

May went to the front of the class and tugged on Warren's sleeve.

"Hm?"

"I ran out of paper."

Warren nodded and got her more paper as he taught. The class went quickly, and the lunch bell rang.

Warren quietly cursed under his breath when he realized he forgot to pack lunches. "Come on, you two. We need to get lunch."

Zack and May followed him. To avoid losing her in the crowd, Warren picked May up, and the three of them got to the lunch room to get food.

Immediately, people crowded around them, asking about May.

Warren sighed. "If you want to know, ask my students."

Warren felt bad a second after that because his twenty students were mobbed by about five hundred fourty students and some staff. Oh well, they can explain it to them. Getting lunch for Zack, May, and himself, Warren then pulled Zack into the teachers' lounge and leaned into his shoulder.

"You okay?" Zack asked. Warren turned to bury his face into Zack's chest, humming in an annoyed tone. Zack sighed. "You didn't get enough sleep last night, did you." This was more of a statement than a question. Warren sighed. "Got called on a mission."

His voice was muffled, but Zack understood.

May ate her sandwich and colored on a paper. Looking at her bandages, she picked at the edge of one and yawned. Warren noticed that she was tired and picked her up to put her in his lap. Soon, both Warren and May were asleep. Zack smiled and looked at the two of them.

She's really worming herself into his heart. I wonder if we could adopt her.

Okay, so I forgot like half the students' names, so I need to figure that crap out, but at least I have the names in a notebook somewhere. I just need to find it.

Okay, so here's how Moon District Magic Academy works. There are four years for each course, and there are seven courses. You can be in one course at a time. The teachers you get in your first year will be your teachers for the next four years. There are twenty kids to a classroom. If one gets expelled, there's a list of people who could fill their place if those people did well in the entrance exam, so there are five hundred sixty students at all times. There are two teachers per classroom, plus extras to be substitutes and extracurricular classes as well as normal jobs within a school. That gives us eight teachers per course and fifty six course teachers, plus around twenty extracurricular teachers and the nurse, principal, vice principal, etc. That gives us around ninety staff members. In all, there are around six hundred and fifty people that are students at or work in the school. That's a lot of people, but it is a really good school, after all.
