Chapter 1: Dealing with all three Cs

So yeah , be sure to check out JA adventures , a guy who is just self contradictory to his existence but still pretty fun and up with deductions....after chapter 14 . Timeline is different ..but still pretty fun at username aiedrow

"Well! We need to set some ground rules if we are going to be roommates ." I yawned.

"Yeah! I agree. So what rules?" She asked.

"Well three rules
1) If you are going to bring any friends or someone, informe me in advance.
2) This room is well quite accommodating so we will keep distance between our bunk beds as much as possible during sleep which would cover the whole area so to well maximize security.
3) Don't disturb me and I won't disturb you ..

Simple enough. I suppose." I arched my back .

"What about you ? Won't you bring any friends or someone? And I am not really sure about third rule . I mean we are roommates after all. A policy of keeping distance from each other is really not the best way to live ." Cistella pointed out.

"I only have one friend and she won't come over suddenly like that. And the lesser we get involved, the better. You just arrived. Enjoy your life at Wonavilla. Don't throw it all away now ." I told her as I laid back on bed .

Thoth's eye

Cistella wasn't sure what happened to Max but she was quite certain that he was not like this . It wasn't like she had met him before. No! She just transferred here mainly because she wanted to meet him and there was no way she would back down from getting him back to his usual self again.

All of sudden, there was a knock on the door. She waited for Max to respond or at least stand up but she soon noticed that he was already asleep.

"Hello! Who are you ?" Cistella sighed opening the door .

"My name is Claude and she is Clare. But who are you and why are you in Max's room?" Claude rolled her eyes as both came inside.

"Well! I mean we are roommates so it is only natural for me to be here . By the way, my name is Cistella. " She introduced herself.

"You are his roommate . I mean I don't see why currently ..but there must have been a reason. Either way , where is he ?" Clare crossed her arms.

"Oh! He is asleep on the bed beside window. He has been sleepy ever since I met him . Even in class, he was mostly sleeping." She told them .

"What ? Max is sleepy! I don't believe you . Let me just wake him up and show you who he is " Claude pranced towards his bed grinning.

"I can't let you do that. He is tired and specifically asked not to be disturbed." Cistella blocked her path.

"What ? Are you his girlfriend now watching over him ?" Clare glared.

"No! I am not. We just met .what I mean is you can wait here if you want !" She told them .

"Uhmm..I told you to warn me in advance if you were bringing friends, Cist." Max groaned waking up.

"Cist! You are calling her by nickname already?" Clare asked as Claude and Cistella looked at each other and sat down on chair .

"Who are you again?" Max looked at her with puzzled expression.

"Are you serious? How could you..." Clare began .

"Oh right! Clare, past year pretend girlfriend trial basis-pending data disappeared and never called. " Max scoffed as she looked away.

"Well remember me at least" Claude waved.

"Of course. We solved two cases together." Max informed her .

"You want your ear pulled" She stared as he chuckled.

"I was just joking. Well! I am just going to deal with you all of you today only. Ok ! Clare, you can go first ;after all you have some explaining to do" He sat down .

"Well! I am sorry. I truly am . You see when I was admitted into hospital, I thought that I would be back like after week or two but my dad is the president of a big biotech company and all so he asked if I wanted to volunteer as a part of experiment which will advance mankind and what not! I agreed but when I reached there , I was told that all mobiles had to be kept out of reach for experiment to succeed . I couldn't tell you about it back then and was only released now She explained.

"Released! Were you in prison or experiment . Oh well! Rationalised. Claude ! What do you want from me ?" Max turned to her .

"Nothing. Why would I want anything? You are my friend. I just came to check on you and met Clare along the way ." She fondled her hair.

"So basically you are here for no reason. " He teased her as she pinched him .

"Well! What do you want , Cistella ? See , Cistella just doesn't sound right. It takes too long to say . Cist .."

"Well! I want to share with us all what has been in your mind and why are you sleepy all the time and look like you have no interest in anything?" She revealed as other agreed.

"There is no mystery that will get bigger than one I have already solved so my main dilemma is the sense of satisfaction from my future achievements now even if I solve some mystery. What will that achieve? I have already figured out a case that surpasses all mysteries I can get nowdays. If there is no improvement in my skills because of that , then what is even point in deduction? If there is no point, then I am just normal guy but without anything to expend my energy on . I can't want to just study and I would now like to go to sleep." Max proceeded to leave as Claude pulled him back.

"What now ?" He asked .

"See! You opened up to us. You presented your problem. Now you hear our side. I don't think that whether how big deal or important a case is matters the most.." Clare commented.

"She is right. What matters is whether you are able to utilise your powers to figure something that others can't. It doesn't need to be necessarily always surpass the preceding cases. In future, you would see boring cases but yet significant to someone . " Claude stated.

"And the benefit of being established as an genius already means that you don't have to prove yourself or feel bound by it because your friends can be there to help you get through this." Cistella suggested.

"Well! I mean I suppose but still.."

"Furthermore, Max, you don't know fate . I tod you , didn't I ?Get rid of presumptions you form based on trivial whims . The fact remains that you are still only 13 , well about to fourteen soon but still you don't know just what awaits you just like I don't . The mystery might have been of national importance but just because something is important to integrity of state doesn't make it any less or more significant than a case that offers complicated clues and riddles at lower levels too. What matters in our life is the drive to solve mystery .

It doesn't matter who is our client .As long as you find mystery worth pursuing , that is all the reason you need to feel grea about yourself after solving it. The culimination of unknown variables interlinked intricately by careful analysis and deep thinking is what precedes thes solving of any mystery . As long as you can get that , the achievment will always be there ." Claude explained as others stared at her.

"Wow ! You are quite the speaker, Claude." Cistella gleamed.

"Right! I am not going to magically become my normal self again but I guess you all made good points .I will start tomorrow...I guess." Max climbed back to his head.

"Start tomorrow..what ?" All three asked.

"Well to find some friends of course. What else" Max groaned sleeping.

"I don't know what to say. Should I be happy he is lifting up his spirits or sad that he doesn't think of me as his friend?" Claude pouted.

"I am sure he is just teasing you , Miss Claude." Cistella patted her as latter blinked at honorific granted to her.

"I think I might have to try a lot to make him go out with me" Clare sighed.

"But weren't you just pretending on trial basis?" Cistella blinked.

"Well! Can't a girl change her mind ?" She rolled her eyes.

"Of course. Yeah ! Although I think Max has finer tastes..." Cistella whisphered but Clare heard it.

"You are trying to get on my nerves but you won't because I am mature unlike girls who would get angry or jealous." Clare sighed calmly as she banged the door leaving.

"Trust me both of you, my Max will not even think about relationship unless you plainly state to him in clear terms . He is just that selective in his mind ." Claude giggled.

"Your Max! Never mind . See ya." Cistella baded them good-bye. Well at least Max Ryder was back on his track again.

Au revoir readers! Keep posted for the next chapter.
