CASE FILE: ANDY MORRISON
•15 year old male
•5'9"
•Blue eyes
•Brown hair
According to eyewitness accounts, the victim was outside playing with a water hose when the attack took place. The animal, described as a "rabid dog", was shot by a neighbor after several minutes of trying to pry the two apart.
Victim was DOA with severe injuries to the face, neck, and chest area. Unrecognizable. The medical examiner shall provide a more detailed report of the injuries as well as a cause of death.
Upon examining the dog, officers reported seeing it continue to twitch even after death. Animal Control personnel confirmed it to be muscle reflexes, which is fairly common in animals. A white, foam-like substance was also reportedly found around the dog's mouth, which is consistent with rabies.
Use caution when responding to calls about rabid animals.
{DOA = Dead On Arrival}

To spare you all the gruesome details, the boy died by suffocating in his own blood. I won't get down to the nitty gritty, but his throat was completely torn apart and all identifiable aspects of his face were just... gone. The catastrophic damage to his chest ultimately caused his lungs to collapse and fill with blood.
I've never seen a case this bad.
The main conclusion everyone seems to have is that the dog had rabies—which is a plausible theory, but I have my doubts. I tested the boy's blood for rabies and surprisingly found nothing. However, I did find traces of another disease with a similar structure to rabies. I will send my findings to the lab for further testing.
Now I'm no veterinarian, but something about the condition of the dog makes me uneasy. There were clear signs of rabies on the body, such as foam around the mouth and excessive salivation, yet there were also strange symptoms—such as blood being present in the dog's eyes. It could very well be blood from the victim, though.
I also found it strange that the body continued to twitch long after all bodily functions should've ceased. Muscular spasms can sometimes go on for ten minutes or so after death, but we're talking hours here. It's like the damn thing just refused to die despite the hole in its head.

Andy Morrison's body started twitching tonight.
I was finishing up some work in the morgue when I saw the body bag jerk. I had seen it out of the corner of my eye, so at first I thought I was just overtired and seeing things. Then it happened again.
Curiosity (and fear) got the best of me. I unzipped the body bag and sure enough, Andy was twitching just like that dog. The most unsettling part was the fact that I could physically see his neck muscles—what was left of them, anyway—contracting with each twitch. If I'd been drugged up, I would've thought that kid had come back from the dead.
I don't remember much after that besides dry heaving over a trash can. I knew I should've eaten something for dinner instead of skipping again, but work always finds a way to put my needs on hold.
I hope to hear from the funeral home soon. The quicker we put that boy to rest, the better.
I don't think I'll get much sleep.

The lab results finally came back and they're not good. Those people don't know what the hell we're dealing with down here.
That disease I found? It isn't in the records. There isn't even a name for it. The only thing they could come up with was the fact that it had similar properties to that of rabies.
Based on my findings, I think this is some kind of... super-rabies. The symptoms are similar, but drastically intensified. I'd have to somehow get a live subject in order to fully compare the two, but I'm sure they're connected. The only thing I can't explain is the postmortem twitches.
This is going to sound crazy, but this may become something big—something we've never encountered before. I'm afraid we aren't prepared for the worst.
There's only been one case so far, but I fear there will be more.

"This is Dr. Chase Nicholson. I don't have much time, so whoever is listening to this needs to pay attention."
[LOUD CRASHING, GLASS BREAKING]
"Fuck! Okay, okay. Andy Morrison has come back from the dead. This kid has no fucking throat and no fucking face, yet he just leapt up from the table like nothing had happened."
...
"He... [heavy breathing] ...He killed Jean and Margie. Ripped their throats out with his teeth like a goddamn animal! I've barricaded myself in my office, but I know he'll get in somehow. There's no way out."

"If anyone finds this, the lab reports and test results are locked away in my safe. M-Maybe you can use them to figure out how to stop this fucking nightmare. It's only going to get worse once it starts to spread. We need to stop it before—"
[LOUD CRASH, ANIMALISTIC HOWLING]
"GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME!"
[GUNSHOTS]
"No... NO!"
