Chapter Forty-Eight: Reverse-Flash{The Flash}
After meeting Sam, I had taken Peggy on another adventure which was space this time, we just travelled among the stars, saw some cosmic fireworks, and then I dropped her back off in her time. A minute later of when we had taken off, she was impressed who wouldn't be. She was great company, and she loved being in the Tardis and having the adventure of her lifetime. But all things come to an end, even for myself.
I smiled up at the building which is known as S.T.A.R. Labs. I hadn't visited the gang in awhile and I was looking forward to see them. I stepped into the building, and came to the elevator and began to go down to the cortex. Within moments, the elevator doors dinged open and I walked down the corridor, finding my way with ease. I turned the corner into the main area of the cortex to see Barry leaning on the edge of the desk, having a long sour face, as something was troubling him.
"Why the long face, Flash?" My voice broke the silence in the room, as all the heads in the room shot to me, Barry holding a surprised expression.
"Vi-Violet?" Barry asked, his face surprised. "I thought you were gone for good," he went on straightening himself up.
"I did say I would see you again," I announce to him, letting out a chuckle. "But here I am, what seems to be the problem?" I asked, as the room was silent and full of thick tension as my gaze flicked between them all, but no one even spoke, not even Cisco. "I'm sorry for leaving without telling any of you, but I hate goodbyes," I spoke the truth as my eyes flicked between everyone. I didn't expect these people to become my friends, and not telling them the truth was hard.
"Eobard Thawne is back," Cisco spoke for the group as my eyes landed on him.
"The Reverse-Flash?" I asked wildly as I remember Cisco telling me he was erased from the timeline, but not all things are impossible when it comes to time.
"You ok, Bar?" Joe's voice rang out in the room as I noticed Barry went back to leaning on the desk, as Cisco and Caitlin were sitting at the desk.
"I'm good, yeah. It's just a lot," Barry told Joe, as it will be a lot, the man you thought you got rid of was gone, but now he was back.
"Eddie Thawne died, so Eobard Thawne should have been erased out of existence, right?" Joe asked using his hands a lot, not fully understanding as his eyes flicked between us.
"Not necessarily," Wells and myself spoke in unions, as we cocked our heads to one another for a moment. Before I brought my eyes back to the group in front of us.
"It's possible Eobard was in the Speed Force, protecting him like a bomb shelter, keeping him alive and his timeline intact. It's what's known as a 'timeline remnant'," Wells explained to the group, as he rubs his forehead for a moment, as I imagine it's a pain in his butt too.
"A what now?" Joe wasn't following what Wells was dishing.
"Here, let me..." Wells began taking steps closer to a fully transparent whiteboard "Show you... This?" He turns to face Cisco, who throws him a white marker pen to draw on the board. "This... Is now," he drew a circle plain in the middle of the board. "Here, today... This is the time Thawne comes from," Wells draws a line before connecting it with another circle. "This is the moment you all erased him from existence," Wells went to the other side and drew another line and a circle. "But since Thawne is from the future-" Harrison draws a line above the left circle and all the way to the right. "This is where his timeline begins. That's why he's still alive," I understood what Harrison was saying.
"So that Thawne has not yet travelled back in time to kill Barry's mother. He's here in this time period for the first time," I cut into Harrison's explanation. "Timeline remnant," I smiled pleased with myself, as I have a vast knowledge for time... Being a Time Lord and all...
"Explains why nothing's changed," Cisco states.
"Yeah, it also explains why he didn't know my name or that we have met before," Barry spoke as I cocked my gaze to him to see he had his arms folded over his chest.
"To him, you hadn't. Not until the future," Wells states back to Barry, agreeing with his statement.
"If Thawne dies before he can time travel again, will that save Barry's mother?" Joe asked the question that should be simple to their minds, but it wasn't simple at all.
"No," I spoke up, turning my body to face Joe. "Time doesn't work like that. What I've gathered from Cisco. If Barry's mother doesn't die, the Flash wouldn't exist. In this timeline, Barry's mother is already dead, and her death is a fixed point and nothing can change that," my eyes went to Barry - who I held a sad expression for, time was a cruel mistress.
"All right, well, I'm gonna end this, him, in this time once and for all," Barry sounded full of rage towards Thawne.
"Let's find Doctor McGee then we'll figure out what to do about Thawne, ok?" Joe told Barry in a Fatherly manner, but Barry turned his back on Joe as he didn't want to wait. "I got to go check on Iris," Joe states as we all nodded to him. I see Barry lean back on the railing of the desk, as I made my way over to him, as he had mixed emotion about this.
"I know it's tough Barry to see a version of him again," I spoke softly, as he straightened up and looked at me. "But you can't let him get to you," I tried to make him think positive about the situation - but what was there to be positive about.
"You don't get it Vi," he snaps at me, but not in the angry way. "He killed my mom, he made my dad go to prison for her murder. I can't just simply forget that," Barry state to me in a raised tone - as I couldn't blame him.
"I know and I wish I could do something about it, but I can't," I state to Barry in a soft voice, as he frowned at me for a moment, wondering what I was on about. "I'm sorry for leaving you, and the gang," I changed the topic to something different to shift the tension. "I just- I hated seeing you hurt over what happened. I needed time," I explained, and I had a lot of time to figure out what was what. "There is something you need to know, all of you," my tone became serious as this peeked Barry's interest. I noticed Cisco had gone with Wells to another room as he wanted to speak to him. Caitlin was minding her own business, but she did look troubled herself, and needed the attention of Barry right now... "I'll tell you another time," I spoke to him, and offered a thin smile, before walking around him and to the exit. I felt his eyes linger on me for a few moments, probably wondering what the hell that was about.
I want to tell him, I want to tell them all who I truly am and where I'm from and what I do. It shouldn't be difficult for me to state who I am. But around these guys, it was difficult, they could think I was working for Zoom or a new baddie for them to fight. One of these days, I'll have to be brave and own up to who I truly am...
