Chapter Five: Trace {The Flash}
The masked man kept on growing as a buzzing sound were being made, like he was sucking the energy from the bracelet on his ankle. I watched with curiosity in my eyes like it was amazing to watch it happen. Well travelling the universe you see amazing things. But that's not the point, right now. He roars as he was growing still, how much more can he grow?
"Cisco, you said this thing would take him down," Joe had spoken with a slight fear in his tone of voice. "He's not going down,"
We all watched as he still grew, but I had heard a grunting sound from the side. I took my gaze for a moment over to Barry who had recovered from getting hurt, he took a moment to process before looking to some gas tanks behind the masked man.
"He went up," I had heard Cisco say as I looked back around to face the man.
Joe turned to look at Cisco and I, before holding out the gun -- Cisco had gotten -- out for him to grab. "Run! Run!" Joe shouted at us. Without even knowing, Cisco had grabbed my wrist with his free hand and dragged me along. But within moments of being dragged from the scene I had heard a gunshot and a loud explosion.
I hope Joe and Barry was all right...
...........................................
A few hours after the attack, Joe, Cisco, and I went to the police station to check over the information that Joe had told us. I stood behind Cisco as he sat in a seat in front of a computer screen, as Joe stood next to me.
"According to the coroner's office Al Rothstein's body was in the morgue all night, so we can scratch off 'zombie attack'" Cisco had spoke, as we look at the screen to see picture of Al Rothstein.
"Rothstein had a twin brother?" Joe had asked, because Joe said he saw Al and he was the one who had attacked, but it couldn't be because he's dead.
"Nope. Only child. And get this, the night the accelerator exploded, Rothstein as on his honeymoon, in Hawaii," Cisco had said, his eyes gazing to Joe and I.
"So we're looking for a guy who's really strong, can grow twice his size, and just happens to look like a dead guy?" I asked, really questioning myself on that statement but someone could easily take another ones face, that technology was possible but I couldn't tell until I had my sonic.
"I would think this meta was really cool if everything about him didn't just terrify me to my core," Cisco had said, and it made me giggle slightly as he turned his gaze to me with a boyish smile.
"Is that what happened to you?" Joe had asked, as Cisco's eyes went to Joe straight away. "You looked really spooked there for a minute,"
"Uh..." Cisco began to speak, but it was like he was hiding something, that he didn't want to tell us.
"I actually see the guy that I can ask about it right now. Call you back, okay?" The voice belonged to Iris as she entered the office area. "Hey," she spoke as she looked at us three, at this point Cisco had stood up from the chair and stood next to me, like we were shoulder to shoulder, only inches apart. "So, the hospital next to the Flash Day rally. The x-ray and CT machines all failed at once," She glanced to the three of us as she spoke. "Was that because of you?" The question was directed to Cisco this time.
"I did not do anything that would cause that," Cisco said, as all of us look at him, with raised eyebrows, questioning that statement. "I'm 92% sure," he raised a finger as he was certain. I look to him while pulling a face making sure that he was 100% sure, and he knew what I meant. As Iris was doing the same face. "I'm going to go make that 100. Excuse me," he states to us as he walks off.
"And I am going to do some research of my own," I smiled with a small laugh at the end, before I gave Joe and Iris a nod of my head, following Cisco out of the building. I believed that Cisco had a plan of his own, and he knew where to go and I had a plan of my own to carry out.
........................................
I had gone back to the Tardis and grabbed my sonic from my jacket and soon found myself back at the scene, where Al had attacked. I see the mess that he had made, while on his rampage towards the Flash. I began to wave my sonic around, a bright light pink colour emitted from the end, as I was scanning the area for any anomalies or any sign for alien tech. After a few moment of scanning the area, I pulled the sonic back and looked at it, reading the data it had gathered.
I made 'Hm' and 'Ah' sounds as I read the data from the sonic, my face twisting into frowns and different worrying expressions. "Oh Dear," I dropped the sonic from my eye sight and looked at the crime scene. But my eyes slowly went from the ground to the sky, where the singularity had been. There were traces of the singularity that the sonic had picked up, where we had fought Al but he had no connection to the singularity, there were also massive amounts of radiation, that still lingered. Maybe that's how Al did it, he soaked up the radiation to power himself.
I quickly went back to where the Tardis was parked. Once I arrived, I placed my hand around my neck, collecting the Tardis Key that I hung on a sliver chain. I pulled it free and placed the key into the lock of the door and turned. I pushed the door open as I pulled the key out of the lock while entering. The Tardis hummed it's sweet sound as I made my way towards the center of the console, my boots clicking against the flooring to the console. I placed my sonic into a slot on the console, before I went to the keyboard and began to type. The data that the sonic received from the scan, it will be able to look for radiation levels which are low, near to none and that where Al will be. I pull the scanner around, as a map of Central City was displayed, and a scan was in progress, finding places without radiation...
The monitor beeps as it pulls up the location where there were zero radiation. It was a Hazardous waste reclamation plant, which should be filled with radiation, so this wasn't good. I didn't waste anytime and began to target the plant, coming over to the space-time lever and pulled it down as the Tardis took off. It was only a quick hop over to the plant, and the Tardis quakes to a stop within seconds. I came around to the slot holding my sonic and grabbed it, and quickly came down the way opening the door.
I step out to hear grunting sounds coming in the other room, I took a few carefully steps into the other room. I see Barry in his flash suit being hit against the wall, repeatedly. As I hid behind a wall, watching this play out.
"He said you were some kind of big hero, but you don't seem worthy of him, or this city," Al states through his mask as he was twice the size of a human right now and ready to hit Barry against the wall again. I rushed my gaze around, but I found an alarm light above. I quickly pointed my sonic to the alarm and pressed the button, a zapping noise came from the sonic and just then the alarms turned red and began to beep, making Al become distracted. Barry phases through Al and he speeds away from him, going back to the lab. I took a sigh as Barry was now safe from harm. I rush back the way I came and entered the Tardis, and took straight off...
...............................
I stood in STAR labs in the cortex, as Caitlin had filled me in, she was surprised to see me after so long. She moved to another Lab as her husband's death hit her hard. Their old boss called Harrison Wells confessed in killing Barry's mother in the year 2000, but the police thought his Dad did it. So, the imprisoned him for his wife's murder. I stood in between Caitlin and Cisco, leaning against the computer table my arms folded over as I wait for Barry's return.
"Is it good news?" Caitlin spoke from the side of me, making me lift my gaze to see Barry enter the cortex, holding a smile on his face.
"I think so," he said proudly.
"Henry's coming home?" Iris asks, full of glee as Barry gives her a wide smile and didn't say anything. She latches onto Barry and gives him a massive hug, letting out a joyous laughter. After a moment, she stops hugging him as I smiled softly.
"Ok," Barry began. "Well, it still leaves Atom Smasher to deal with," Barry announces to us all, as we still had to deal with the big guy.
"Last time you faced him, it did not go well," Stein states to Barry.
"No, it did not," he replies kind of sheepishly. "I clearly can't stop him by myself... So how are we gonna beat him?" Barry asks us all, wondering if one of us had a idea that would stop him.
"Well... Ever since I was shown a drained radiation tag, which I haven't been able to stop thinking about. Thank you, Cisco," Caitlin remarks taking her gaze to Cisco.
"You're welcome, Caitlin," he replies back, cocking his arm over, pointing to her for a second.
"If this guy likes radiation so much, I say we give it to him," Caitlin finishes as Barry nods his head, knowing that this might work, whatever Caitlin was planning...
***********
Once the plan was in motion now it was down to Barry to get the big guy to where he needs to be. We all gathered around the monitor as Cisco and Caitlin was sat down, but I watch blocking their conversation out.
"It's working, dude. Rothstein's following you," Cisco's voice echoed in my ears, making me come back to the room.
"I must say, he's quite agile for a man his size," Martin states, as we follow Barry's movement on the screen as he was closing in on the building, and it was a waiting game. Cisco ready with the button to close the doors to the radiation chamber.
"Now, Cisco," We all hear Barry say and Cisco presses a button that actives the chamber as it began to fill with radiation.
"The amount of radiation in that room. He won't be able to absorb it all," I told the group and to Barry who was over the coms. Within moments, the chamber began to cool as it was removing the radiation from within. The chamber was now idle and safe to enter.
"The radiation has been cleared. It's safe for you to go in," Cisco told Barry, but this was it, the end of the line for the big guy. And I found a sense of accomplishment in that...
..............................
The next day had arrived and I was inside Joe's home, as all of us were there, besides Barry. As he went to get his father from prison. He was sentenced for life for killing his wife, a crime he did not commit, and now he was free to live his life once again... Suddenly, the front door to the house opens and walk in Barry and Henry.
"Welcome home!" We all yells as they enter, Henry smiles to see this right now, the house got balloons in, a banner saying 'Welcome Home Henry' it was a perfect celebration. We all began to clap and cheer for the man, as he to hug Joe and Iris. It was nice to see a Father and Son be reunited after so long, it just warms my heart. The champagne began to be poured and served to each one of us, we all grabbed a slender glass. There were food dotted on the table, a big welcome home cake for Henry. I came up to Henry as he was free from the hugs.
"Welcome home, Mister Allen," I spoke softly to him, his eyes wondering up and down my body for a split-second.
"Thank you, Miss?" He paused for a moment as he had no idea who I was.
"Violet," I smiled at him as he offered a smile back, but before he could say something else, Joe grabbed his attention. Cake was being cut, snacks were being eaten and I stood around like a wet lemon not interacting with anyone as I was the odd one out...
After awhile, and small talk with Cisco, a clinking sound came to my ear, making me look over to the window to see Martin clinking his finger on his glass.
"Gather round, everyone , please," he spoke as we all began to move closer to him. I stood in-between Cisco and Caitlin. "Looking at all of you, thinking how far we've all come, and remembering those who are no longer with us. I'm reminded of a Hebrew word used during time of graduation... Kadima. It means 'Forward'," Stein gave his speech to us, making me smile as he raises his glass into the air. "Forward," he repeated, his glass still in the air.
"Forward," Joe joined in, raising his own glass as he hugged his daughter.
"Forward," Iris raises her glass.
"Forward,"
"Forward," Caitlin raises her glass after Cisco had raised his own, as this was a touching moment for us all.
"Forward," I raised my own glass my gaze going to Cisco, offering him a small smile. Henry and Barry spoke it as well, clinking there glasses together as Cisco and Caitlin clinked the three of our glasses together. I took a sip of the champagne as the cool, bubbly liquid slid down my throat. But I know I couldn't stay here, this wasn't going to be a permanent fix... I finished my drink off and placed it on the side, as I headed to the front door, and grabbed my jacket from the stand.
"You're leaving?" Barry announces from behind me, making me spin on my heels to face him.
"That I am," I replied, slipping on my jacket.
"I wanna say thank you for all the help you have give us," Barry states, making me raise my eyebrow at him. "And I hope we meet again," he offers me a small smile, making me chuckle softly at his response.
"That I can agree on," I replied back to him as he smiles himself. "See you around, Flash," I gave a wink at him, before turning and opening the door, leaving the West house behind. I know in my bones that I will be back to visit them. But I never stay too long on a planet as I'm always moving and busy with the life...
But I can't forget the past...
