Chapter Fifty: Back to the Future {The Flash}

Barry returned with his counter part, and locked him into the pipe line, concealing him away, and his powers null. I stood to the right of Barry and behind Joe, my arms folded over my chest, as the screen in front of us displayed the camera in the Reverse Flash's cell. He stared straight at the camera, trying to be all threatening.

"Hey, he can't?" Joe began as he parted his hands sideways and wiggled them abit.

"Phase his way out? No, he can't do that," Cisco caught on what Joe was trying to get at.

"It's the same cell we used to hold Doctor Wells last year," Caitlin added to the conversation, furthering her point in the protection of all of us, and what the cell can do.

"Comforting," I mumbled to myself, but out of the corner of my eye, I saw Wells cock his gaze at me for a moment. I notice Barry turn in his position and began to walk away from us.

"Barry, where you going?" Joe asked him.

"I'm going down there," Barry replied in a dark tone of voice, not even turning to face Joe.

"No, you're not," Wells stepped in as his eyes planted on Barry - who stopped in his tracks and turned to face Wells. "The more he learns about you, the more you will alter the time line," Wells announces, taking a few steps forward - as he had a point. Time is unpredictable when it comes to time travel, believe me I would know.

"He killed my mom!" Barry raised his voice as he pointed to the monitor.

"He's from the future, Barry. He hasn't done that yet," I eased my comment in my eyes locking with him, hoping for him to get some sense into his head.

"He doesn't even know you're the Flash, and you need to keep it that way," Wells added to the back end of my comment, but it was more like an order than a request.

"You already said that his mother's gonna die no matter what we do," Joe came to stand beside Wells, as he lifted his hand to suggest he was talking about Barry.

"Ramifications," I pipped up behind both men, as all eyes went to me. "Any time anybody messes with the time line, it's impossible to predict what those ramifications are going to be," I stressed out the explanation to them as time was delicate, you had to hand it with the utmost of care.

"Barry, you caught him and you stopped him from killing Doctor McGee," Caitlin's soft voice came into play. "In my book, that's a win," she was trying to cheer Barry up, trying to make him feel good about capturing him.

"This doesn't feel like a win," he spoke with a shake of his head, as to him it didn't feel like he will win. Just then a cell phone vibrates on the desk, making Barry reach over and grab his phone, turning it over and look at the message he got. "I got to go," he spoke plainly and walked around the desk and to the archway. My eyes never left him, but I had a urge to go talk to him...

"Barry, wait," I called out after him, as I walked around the desk, and across the floor, as he stopped in hallway outside of the main room.

"What is it Violet?" Barry asked quickly, as he wanted to be somewhere else right now.

"I heard what you and Joe was on about earlier," I began, as his eyes wondered mine for a moment. "This woman Patty, she must be very close to you. And I know what it's like letting someone who you care for go. To protect them from harm," my voice was soft, as Barry gave me a soft expression.

"How did you do it?" Barry asked, as he could tell I've let people go before.

"With great difficulty. But in the end, I know they're safe," I offered a thin smile to Barry, hoping he would find it easier for the decision he will be making. With one final look, Barry offered a small smile back and spun around, and walked away - leaving me to my own thoughts...

..................

Hours had passed, Cisco had gone down to the pipeline and talked with Reverse Flash, and Barry was currently down there, talking to him. Personally it wasn't a good idea for Thawne to learn more about him. I paced the cortex, biting at my nails waiting for Barry to finish talking. I notice Caitlin and Cisco in the med-bay off to the right of the room, Cisco didn't look well. Within seconds, blood gusted from his nose, as he fell to the floor, making Joe and Wells rush into help Cisco. I rushed around the desk, and typed quickly, activating the coms in the section of the pipeline Barry's in.

"Barry, we need you in the cortex now," I spoke, as my voice trembled slightly as I rushed from the desk, and to the side room, entering to see Joe and Wells pinning Cisco down as he was having seizing. I came to the end of the bed, and held down Cisco's legs.

"What's happening?" Barry's voice came from the side, making me cock my gaze to him as he entered the room, seeing Cisco in this terrible state.

"He's experiencing an uncontrollable amount of electrical energy in his brain, putting him in a prolonged state of chronic seizing," Caitlin spoke in a rush, her eyes never leaving the computer screen which was monitoring Cisco's brain.

"What? Can you stop it?" Barry asked as Caitlin swiftly spun around face him, dread filled her face.

"I don't know," she answered him honestly, as Barry and mine gazes met, as we held worried for Cisco. The gaze lasted a few seconds, as we turned our attention to Cisco who was still jolting around, as we tried to hold him down.

"Hold him!" I state with a raised voice, my eyes flickering between Joe and Wells.

"We're trying!" He raised his voice back at me, but this was an intense moment.

"Sedate him, Snow, now!" Wells ordered Caitlin with a raised voice.

"Benzodiazepine. This should do it," I hear Caitlin state as she came over with a syringe and forced it into Cisco's leg, injecting him with the contents. Suddenly, his fits began to fade, and he became still once again.

"Finally," Joe remarked, happy for Cisco as we all took a breath of relief. However, out of no where, Cisco sinks into the bed, and becomes transparent, making us all gasp in shock and jolt back in fright.

"What was that?" Barry asked, no idea what was happening to Cisco. But I knew what was happening to him, and I should have realised the signs sooner.

"What's going on?! Where the hell am I?!" Cisco's voice seemed distant but yet so close.

"Cisco!" Barry shouted his name, but that wasn't going to help him.

"It's the timeline," I blurted out, as I couldn't help this in, though it was going to crush Barry - which he locked eyes with me, as did everyone else.

"What? What are you talking about?" Barry rushes out, wanting to know what I was talking about.

"When you captured the Reverse Flash, we fractured the timeline. That's why Cisco is bleeding and seizing, he's being effected by the changes made to the timeline. The changes to the past and to the changes to the present," I frantically rushed out, trying to keep the explaining to a minimal. "We need to do something fast," my eyes flicked between them all, but they landed back on Barry.

"Like what?!" Joe states, as my eyes shot back to him.

"We need to restore the timeline," Wells inputted, as he knew what was happening as well. "Barry, you need to get Reverse-Flash and send him back to the future as quickly as possible," Wells raised his voice as he explained the dire situation.

"What? Are you..."

"Barry...

"I just caught him! You want me to let him go?!" Barry yelled over Wells, as he was trying to explain to him about the whole thing.

"Barry! He doesn't belong here! Keeping him here is killing Cisco!" I yelled my point across as Barry locked eyes with me.

"Barry, if this is the only way we can save him, you got to do it! You got to let go of Thawne!" Joe stressed the point to Barry, as he needed to let go of this fixation with Thawne.

"I can't," Barry spoke making me cock my head back to him to see his fists held against his forehead, as he was stressing, the decisions in his head was going ten to the dozen. "Ok, all right, look-" his fisted hands flattened out and ran through his hair. "I-I destroyed the tachyon drive in the speed machine. There's no way it'll reach a speed necessary to send him back home," Barry continued to stress over the situation.

"You can," Wells replied straight off of Barry speaking.

"What?"

"Your speed coupled with Thawne's speed-"

"Will be enough to catapult him through the time continuum," I cut into Wells explanation, finishing it off for him, as he nodded his head.

"Alright. Let's do it. Let's do it," Barry agreed to send Thawne back to his own time, to save the life of his dear friend...

We all departed, Barry went to get himself ready, as Wells went down to the pipeline to secure Thawne. Caitlin was going to stay with Cisco, making sure he doesn't get any worse than he already is. Joe and I, made our way to the pipeline, to see everyone ready. This was my first time seeing the Reverse Flash up close and I wasn't impressed.

"I win again, Flash," Thawne spoke cockily to Barry - who was wearing his Flash suit.

"All you have to do is provide him with enough momentum to get him past the space-time barrier," I told Barry as he came to stand in front of Wells and I.

"All right," he states, his voice low as he was bummed about it all.

"Hey, listen to me," Wells began, as him and Barry locked eyes with one another. "Thawne knows about you. Right here, right now. This is where he learns about you, all of you. It's how he knows about S.T.A.R. Labs, how he knows about me... The Harrison Wells of this Earth. And there's nothing I can do about it. There's nothing you can do about it," Wells was giving Barry the hard truth, as my eyes stared on Barry staring at Wells. "This is his origin story, and it's going to happen no matter what you do... But right here, right now. You can send him back to his time. You can save your friend," Wells was speaking in a low tone, as he didn't want Thawne to fully hear what we were talking about.

"You can save Cisco," I spoke strongly, stepping a bit forward as Barry locked eyes with me. I touched his forearm, as he gladly let it happen. "Then move on with your life," my tone was smooth and soft, as my hand slithered down to his gloved hand and locked fingers with him for a moment, giving it a good squeeze.

"This could be a good thing. You can finally let go of him," Joe announces to Barry, as I dropped my hand from his.

"I could throw him three centuries from now. He'll always be part of me," Barry replied to Joe's comment, as Barry turns and goes to the door Thawne was waiting at. "Time to send you back to where you belong," Barry spoke but I didn't wait around and leave the pipeline hallway, and made my way back up to the cortex. I strolled into the cortex, and came to the computer's keyboard and typed for a second, as the screen displayed inside of the pipeline and the two figures in - Barry and Thawne, running at high speeds.

Within minutes, Joe and Wells made it back to the cortex, and began to watch Barry speed through the pipeline, and then Thawne disappeared, meaning he had been sent back to his own time. I cocked my gaze to the right, to see Caitlin smile down at Cisco who was stabilised. I smiled to myself, as Cisco was safe from harm now. Now it was time to leave...

I spun around and went to the cortex archway, but Barry came speeding in, and skid to a stop. His eyes locking onto me, who held a sheepish expression.

"He's going to make it," I began, as he cocked his gaze to Cisco who would make a full recovery. Barry turned back to face me, breathing a sigh of relief.

"Where are you going?" Barry questioned, as I gave him a look, but my eyes drifted from his. "Oh, I see," he announces, saddened by what he knew I was going to do.

"I'm sorry, Barry. But it's difficult for me to tell you. But like I told Cisco, if you ever need me, I will be here," I offered a small smile to him, as without thinking, I reached my hand up and touched his left cheek, as the mask was no longer on his head. "See you again Barry," I dropped my hand from his cheek, as his head shifted and looked away from me, not knowing what to say.

I walked from in front of Barry and came to the cortex archway, stopping and turned to the stare the back of Barry, offering a thin smile to myself. As I will always be back to help Team Flash, and whatever they need I will aid them...
