Kinzie's Origins
This still stings my chest until today... Don't worry Kinzie, you won't have to worry about it anymore. You don't have to remember it.
The day was rainy. The clouds blocked out the sun and the rain poured. Inklings were found not to be harmed by natural water like rain or such, only stage water hazards are harmful to them, so Inklings don't have to hide in their houses. Two inklings were walking down the street. Kinzie was one of them, her cheery demeanor seemingly able to persist even in this rain. However, the one she was with didn't share this sentiment. As they walked, the rain got stronger. "Hey, I kinda find this enjoyable. Don't you?" She told her love who was holding up their umbrella. He didn't look very amused however. It seemed like he was about to snap for some reason. "Hey, uh, Max? You alright?" Kinzie asked him. He grumbled to himself before looking at her with an angered expression. "No I'm not alright! I can't stand you! You're always this weird, happy type and I hate it!" His words caught Kinzie off guard. Her face froze in a shocked expression. "Y-you w-what?" Her voice started to stammer. "I don't like you! You're not even that good! That's it, I'm out of here!" He left her behind as the rain got stronger. Tears began to flow down Kinzie's face as she fell to her knees in the rain. Max simply walked away, not even looking back. Kinzie felt herself lose control and collapsed. She could see a bright light near her as she passed out.
She woke up in a strange landscape. It was multi-colored and bright, with the landscape seemingly infinite. Around her were mysterious polygons of varying colors. She looked around, but nothing still made sense. She roamed around to see the same things, polygons as far as the eye can see. It felt surprisingly calm, and with Kinzie's personality, she enjoyed it very much. The warmth the entire area was giving off felt welcoming, and she didn't seem too bothered by it. But she couldn't shake the feeling that something isn't right... Suddenly, the floor gave way and she fell. She landed in a small area. It was mostly pitch black, but red was radiating through the darkness. Bright lights shone in her eyes as she felt scared of what came next. A capsule appeared in front of her as she started to feel like she was floating. She saw she was getting closer to it and struggled, but nothing was working. She ended up inside the capsule and raised into the air. She saw a clone of her being produced from light. She tried banging on the capsule's cover, but it didn't do anything. The last thing she saw before blacking out was her clone smiling at her before walking away, leaving Kinzie behind, locked away in this prison of a broken heart...
