Chapter Thirty-Two

helping the odd one out 

3rd person pov

amelia held kiaras hand as chandler went to go tell his father that they were here. Amelia wrapped her arm around kiara and she watched as an older man walked out of the room. 

"come in, please, please, warm yourself by the fire" chandler said and lia looked around as they walked into the room and looked around as wes spoke up

"i apologize for dragging you all out here, but i... i don't think i could speak about this in public. i know i mentioned blackbeard, but i assure you all, my interest is not the treasure, my ancestor, francis genrette was the british officer who caught and killed the notorius pirate. after he beheaded blackbeard, he killed the pirates wife elizabeth and since then for 300 years, generations of genrettes have been haunted by elizabeths ghost and have died violent deaths including my daughter, larissa. chandlers wife, my daughter saw elizabeth a week before she died, now... ive had a visitation so i know i don't have much time" he told them 

"right, so we're really sorry that that happened to you, but what do you want from us?" he asked and lia nodded her head

"i agree, im just a little confused on what you want us to do about this?" lia spoke up, as always the voice of reason. 

"of course, you're right. lets get down to business, chandler. we believe that we've found a way to break on this family right before she was murdered, elizabeth begged francis to retrieve from her husbands ship a keepsake that he'd given her. Her most prized possession. An amulet.He denied the request and then murdered her. But if we find that amulet, fulfilling Elizabeth's last request,I believe it will break the curse that has haunted my family for over 300 years" he explained

"okay. im sorry. where did you say that the necklace thingy is?" kiara asked 

"Blackbeard's last ship, the Adventure" he said

"According to all records, the amulet was still on it when it was scuttled right off Goat Island" he said

"Right, yeah, but the Coast Guard excavated that site years ago" pope spoke up 

"The excavation team didn't know what we know. They didn't have this. There's a secret lockbox hidden behind the headboard in the captain's chamber. Do you dive?" he asked 

"we dive. all of us do. its just we only do it if the price is right" jj said 

"okay actually wait, none of us know how to dive, john bs done it once and so have i but other than that, the others have absolutely no idea what we're doing, now the question about money is correct because what are we going to get out of this?" amelia asked and they all let out a sigh at her words knowing she was being smarter about it

"excellent. we are prepared to offer you a premium for your services. fifty thousand plus expenses. five thousand up front and we would very much like your immediate answer" he said and they all walked out of the room to talk to it. amelia closed the door and they all sat down as john b spoke up

"This is weird. We could just slip out through the back" kiara said 

"yeah guys i mean this is weird and i don't like it, im all for helping the odd one out but not this time" 

"Are we really going to listen to the guy who should be in a white padded room? Visitations? Curses? He's a madman" john b exclaimed

"Obviously, he's batshit, but he's in there crying about his daughter. Like, he needs help" sarah said

"He needs therapy, not a necklace thing. We don't even know if anything he's saying is true. We cannot ignore the fact that there is a ghost and a curse. Y'all aren't getting a weird-ass vibe?" kiara said

"Okay. Guys. Let's just say we take this job. Is it even possible?" cleo asked

 
"Yes" jj said quickly and amelia snapped her head to the boy and shook her head as she sighed 

"no look, i mean we get the money but what else after that? guys look at our track history, we start off small and then it becomes something big, someone always dies and we always lose. is this really worth it?" amelia asked and they all stared at her 

" guys, in our time of need, are we really gonna turn down free money? no thats not like us, so the worse that can happen is we walk out of here with five gs in our pocket. end of discussion" jj said and he turned to walk out of the room but amelia grabbed his arm and closed the door again 

"think for a fucking second jj, you're all in but we aren't, honestly you're the reason we're in this mess right now so none of us are going to listen to you. guys, do we really want to do this?" amelia asked and jj stared at her as the others spoke up and came to the agreement that they needed the money but as soon they saw smoke, they were gone. 

 Amelia walked out and told the men that they were going to take the job and the money. They all stood in the doorway as they watched amelia talk to them, she grabbed the money and they left the house as they headed back out to the boat and got back on as they went home and started to work out the plan.

amelia rested against kiara as they talked about the plan. they figured out what they could do and pope went to talk to his uncle but it was no use and so they were onto the next best option and that was jjs friend. jj went to find him and the girls went back to the shop to work and juliette rested against the counter as a man walked in

"good afternoon ladies, y'all remember me?" he asked and cleo spoke up but amelia didn't hear her, she only heard the man 

"i like that accent. welcome to our country" he said to her and amelia jumped off the counter as he handed them a paper and offered to take the place. amelia smiled as him as he said they were gonna lost it

"and you have safe travels back to your homeland" he said to cleo and amelia tilted her head 

"i find it so funny you can say that shit, when you're on my fucking land, get the hell out or i won't have a problem calling shoupe" she said and he stared at her as he scoffed and left the property. Amelia handed the paper to sarah and the three girls read it over together. 

"guys, they're trying to take our fucking home. dad used to do this shit to customers he got sick of" amelia told her and sarah nodded. they all stood there together and thought of something.  soon enough, jj and the others came back to tell them they got boogie to help them. amelia was the one who was going diving and kiara was deciding to go with her. lia smiled at the thought of it as they both on the boat later that night and they headed out to the location that boogy helped them with. lia and kiara got the gear on and lia looked at kie

"are you sure about this?" she asked and kiara nodded as pope helped zip lia and kiara up. they looked at each other and sat down on the edge of the boat.

"as long as we got each other" kiara said and they out on the mask and the hoods as well as the goggles and they fell back into the water with a wave at the others. as soon as they got in the water, they started to swim down. They got to the boat faster than they thought and they found an entry point that they were able to swim into. they looked around and amelia got to wear the necklace would be. she started to chip at it and she reached entry point as she stabbed it and she looked into the hole. Lia and Kiara had separated at that point and Kiara noticed some camping near and then a man attacked Kie

"NO KIE" she yelled and she stabbed the man with the knife. she fought as the man locked her in a room and Kiara swam around as she began to fight the man. Lia started to break out of the room, she hit the wood and she got out as the man cut kies air flow and she watched as she got out of the room and she went after the man. she watched kiara swim up to the surface and she nodded. she followed after the girl and they swam up to meet pope and john b

they shot up out of the water panting and amelialooked at the others as she removed her mask. pope helped her climb up and john b helped kie climb up and they noticed the blood on amelia

"what the hell ames?" pope asked and she sighed

"theres a guy down there, he attacked us, its his blood, not mine" she said and she started to groan as she felt sick and she turned to kie. she held the girls hand and she waited as they got to land again. they got to the dock and they moved around

"pope i don't feel so good" she said and pope looked in their eyes and he grabbed them

"they have the bends. we gotta get them to the hospital" pope said and they got into the twinkie as they drove to the hospital. but while they were driving, amelia handed them the amulet and they all smiled as they got to the hospital

they rushed out of the twinkie and they were brought into the hospital where pope yelled to the doctor that they had the bends and they were brought into a hyperbolic chamber where they both laid down and groaned in pain. amelia turned her head to kiara and she reached her hand out to her smiling when kiara grabbed her hand and lia shuttered but smiled

"hey at least if we die, we were with each other" she told her girlfriend and kiara nodded in agreement with her as she smiled and sighed.

she was happy to be stuck in there with kiara and she held the girls hand close to hers and she smiled as kiara rolled closer to her and she kissed the girl. Amelia smiled as she lifted the pillow and blocked the view of the nurse as she smiled into the kiss and she kissed her back. 

she did feel bad for the nurse though
