8. First day secrets

The end of the day came quickly after lunch, Izuku felt like his classes flew by when the final bell of the day rang. Nezu had scheduled a meeting for them after school so Izuku wasn't leaving just yet, but first, he needed to see Toshinori. He threw his bag over his shoulder and started walking towards the teachers' lounge, his legs were still a bit shaky but he was able to walk properly.

Izuku ended up in front of the teachers' lounge door after a few minutes he knocked and was greeted by Cementos after a few moments.

"Can I help you?" Cementos seemed agitated as he stared down at Izuku making Izuku swallow harshly.

"I'm here to see All Might," he stated unsure, Cementos let out an agitated sigh.

"What's your name kid?" He asked crossing his arms and glaring down at Izuku.

"Izuku Midoriya," Izuku was debating leaving and just texting Toshinori as to not anger Cementos further.

"Oh thank god, we've had so many kids trying to see All Might today, it's driving me insane." Cementos moved to the side letting Izuku in, Izuku let out a small giggle at Cementos' relieved tone. Izuku walked in catching the attention of a certain trio.

"Didn't we agree on tomorrow?" Hizashi asked turning towards Shota and Nemuri, Shota nodded his eyes glued to Izuku. They would be put in a tough spot if word got out their soulmate was a student. The three watched him walk towards their row of desks before walking past barely even sparing them a glance. Izuku walked to Toshinori's desk, dropping his bag on the floor next to it.

Toshinori looked up at him and grinned, "Izuku, my boy! How was your first day?" He asked with a grin pulling out the chair from the unclaimed desk next to him motioning for Izuku to sit.

"It was," Izuku sat as he thought for a moment, he had gone through unimaginable pain but he also made a bunch of new friends, "good, yeah it was good."

"I'm glad!" Toshinori clapped him on the shoulder beaming, Izuku patted his hand with a small smile. "So what can I do for you, my boy?"

"Uhm, I have a meeting with Nezu but there was something else," Izuku furrowed his brows trying to remember what else he needed, "bandages!" Izuku's head popped up while he snapped his fingers suddenly remembering. Toshinori chuckled and nodded turning to the drawers on his desk, opening the bottom one he pulled out a green first aid kit. "Green? seriously?" Izuku deadpanned.

"Hey this is honestly just for you, you somehow manage to get more injuries than I do." Toshinori defended and Izuku rolled his eyes leaning back in his chair. Toshi pulled out all the needed supplies to change Izuku's bandages before using his foot to pull Izuku's chair closer to his. Izuku let the man unwrap the bandages covering his neck and grinned when Toshinori smiled at the way it was healing.

"Wanna know something?" Izuku whispered as Toshinori tossed the dirty bandages in the bin under his desk. Toshi quirked a brow pulling a clean bandage out of first aid kit. "I met them today."

Toshinori's face lit up and he almost dropped the bandage as he reached out to grab Izuku's shoulders.

"Really!? Oh my boy!" Izuku shushed him quickly, not wanting to bring unwanted attention to himself. "What? This is so exciting! Tell me all about them!" Toshinori whisper yelled and Izuku huffed in amusement.

"Later Yagi, I have to meet up with Nezu soon." Toshinori scrunched his face in displeasure but nodded nonetheless.

Soon enough Izuku was bandaged back up and on his way to Nezu's office with a small smile on his face. Toshinori cleaned up the first aid kit and put it away, he turned back to his computer only to be scared out of his skin when he saw Aizawa, Present Mic, and Midnight standing above it staring down at him.

"Hey Mr. Might, you know Midoriya?" Mic chirped curiously and All Might nodded in return. After a moment of silence, Toshinori realized they wanted to know how he knew Izuku.

"Yes we met a couple of years ago, he's like my protege," Toshinori explained with a fond smile as he thought back over the time he'd spent with Izuku. "Why do you ask?"

"He's just so quiet, we were surprised he actually held a full conversation with you," Midnight piped up gaining Toshinori's attention, Toshinori hummed and leaned back in his chair.

"He's a sweet boy that's been through the wringer, just give him a little time, I'm sure he'll warm up to you!" With a confident reassuring smile he waved them off back to their desks.

Izuku ran a hand through his hair as he wrote down quirk drawbacks of a new hero that just debuted, during his meetings with Nezu the ratdog would have him go through footage of recent and old fights between pros and villains and jot down all the information he could gather just from the video itself. Nezu sat across from him, sipping tea as he silently studied him.

"There's something bothering you," Nezu noted casually making Izuku look up at him confused.

"What?"

"You're out of rhythm today, something is different. Would you like to talk about it?" Nezu explained setting his tea cup down. Izuku set his pencil down and slumped in his seat.

"I've just had a long day, sir." Izuku breathed running a hand across his face, it really had been a long day. From Katsuki almost murdering him for placing higher on their fitness test in the morning to the emotional and physical toll meeting his three soulmates had on him. Nezu's beady eyes stayed trained on him, a flicker of curiosity crossing them.

"Why don't you tell me about your classmates, I'm sure you have a whole notebook planned out in your mind." Izuku blushed at the playful accusation, mostly because it was true but also because Nezu knew he would analyze his classmates and their quirks absentmindedly.

"They're nice, most of them, Mineta is," Izuku paused trying to find the right word for the way the boy acted, "I don't even know how to explain what his is." Nezu let out an amused chuckle and Izuku smiled.

After a few moments of quiet Nezu titled his head slightly, "But that's not all there is, is there?"

Fuck Toshinori was right, Nezu could read minds and it was fucking terrifying. Izuku glanced away from his beady stare to the window behind Nezu, should he tell Nezu about his soulmates? Would they get in trouble? They hadn't done anything wrong, Izuku would hate to put them in a tough spot when they hadn't even done anything.

"I don't want to get anyone in trouble," Izuku started quietly and Nezu kept his head tilted, Izuku was starting to learn that it was his way a quirking his eyebrows since he didn't have any. "I met my soulmates today."

"And who are they?" Nezu was curious, Izuku could tell just from his tone.

"Aizawa, Present Mic, and Midnight. But they didn't do anything, I don't want them to get in trouble for just meeting me,"

Nezu frowned at Izuku's worried tone, "why would they be in trouble, Midoriya? They can't control who their soulmates are just like you can't." He reassured and Izuku gave a small nod. "Was that it?" Another nod and Nezu smiled once again. "Well we'll have to have a talk with them and your guardians in the near future to discuss but until then, just do what you feel is right, they won't be in trouble cub."

Izuku preened at the pet name Nezu had given him and ignored the dread bubbling in his gut about the future meeting.
