2 - Soulmates

{TW: Hospitals, stitches and descriptions of blood and wounds}

Soulmates.

In Greek mythology it is said humans were created with four arms, four legs and two faces. Fearing their power Zeus split them into two separate parts, condemning them to search for their second half. During the time before quirks finding your soulmate wasn't impossible but it also wasn't super likely to find you actual soulmate. With the first quirk came the first soul-mark, after the first every baby was born with a mark of their own and then the mark of their soulmate. most of the time it would be an animal that matched their personality but sometimes it would be an item that meant a lot to them but they always had one defining feature. It was always the color of their hair, birth color or dyed, it would match.

Most were born with their soulmates mark somewhere on their body, meaning their soulmate was already born. But some would gain their mark after when their soulmate was born, it created a burning sensation that would last for anywhere between 5 minutes and to a day. It hurt like a bitch but most said it was worth it to know they had a soulmate somewhere in the world, just waiting to meet. And when they met, the burning sensation would come back tenfold, letting them know they had met.

Hizashi was born first, he had a golden cockatoo chick that rested on his neck and when he was a few months old he started crying and screaming, nothing would sooth him so his parents took him to the doctor only to reveal the black kitten that was forming on his chest. His golden cockatoo chick moved down to watch the black kitten form. A few months after that it happened again but this time it was a panther kitten and it formed right next to where Hizashi's cockatoo and his soulmates kitten were cuddling above his heart.

When Hizashi was 9 his arm started burning in the middle of class, tears weld in his eyes as he bit his lip to stop himself from screaming as the pain ran up his arm, it felt as if the blood in his veins was boiling and his muscles started spasming as it moved from his arm to throughout his body. He fell out of his chair as he sobbed curling in on himself, his teacher immediately escorted him to the nurses office where he was laid on a bed and told to wait it out till his parents came. Hizashi felt like his whole body was lit aflame until it suddenly stopped and his body felt ice cold. His parents walked in to see him curled in a ball shivering.

"Come on buddy, we'll look for it in the car." Hizashi's father murmured picking him up and carrying him out to the car. Once he was situated in the back seat he looked down at his and to see a white and green wolf cub curled in the palm of his hand. The rest of his marks moved down to inspect their new buddy, sniffing and looking at the cub as it blearily looked around. Soon enough the panther, which had grown considerably since it first appeared on Hizashi, moved to curl around the cub and start cleaning it. Hizashi teeth clacked together as he smiled, watching and his cockatoo and the cat joined them in a cuddle pile on his palm.

"Do you see it?" His mother asked, she had an excited look on her face as she turned in her chair to look at him. Hizashi held up his hand and his mother cooed watching the cub splay across the rest of the animals curled around it.

In another part of the city a baby girl was born with curly white and green hair, her mother was alone in the delivery room, no father or other family to be seen. The mother was sobbing happy tears as she stared down at the bundle in her arms, how could she not love the little baby in her arms, even when the father wanted nothing to do with her. This was her baby and nothing would ever change that.

"I'm not busy, are you alright?" Toshinori's voice came through the phone, Izuku hummed not really wanting to worry him.

"Well not really, I may need to go to the hospital and moms not home." Izuku replied cringing as he pressed the rag to his face again.

"I'll be there in a few minutes, be waiting outside if you can my boy." Izuku could hear the worry in Toshinori's voice, he felt bad about lying about the mom part but he also didn't want to tell Toshinori that his mom threw a glass at him.

About 10 minutes later Toshinori pulled up to Izuku's house, Izuku was sitting on the front step holding the rag to his face. Toshinori met him halfway to the car gasping when he finally caught sight of Izuku's state, Izuku had blood smeared across his face, neck and shirt, he was also concerningly pale and the once white rag was now completely red.

"Oh my god Midoriya, let's go!" Toshinori ushered Izuku to the car and helped him climb in the passenger set before setting off for the hospital. "What happened?"

"I tripped while holding a glass then tried to catch myself with the hand holding the glass." Izuku lied, he could feel the blood start seeping through the rag making him sigh as he leaned his head against the car window.

withing 10 minutes Izuku was being ushered into the emergency room and swept away into a room while Toshinori filled out paperwork. The doctors immediately started cleaning his wounds, Izuku zoned out as doctors and nurses rushed in and out of the room, his eyes counted the ceiling tiles as his nose was filled with the smell of what could only be described as a hospital, he was only snapped out of it when Toshinori rushed into the room and sat down next to Izuku's bed just out of the way of the doctors stitching up his cheek and applying butterfly strips to the cuts too small to stitch. After about 30 minutes they were done, a nurse was wrapping bandages around his throat while another was putting an IV in his arm, the doctor stood at the end of his bed going over his chart. Toshinori scooted his chair closer to Izuku's bedside and watched the

nurses leave the room. "I'm guessing you're dad?" The doctor looked at Toshinori, Toshinori opened his mouth to reply but Izuku cut him off.

"Yeah." Izuku was slightly high from the pain meds pumping into his body from one of the IVs in his arm. Toshinori felt slightly prideful that Izuku saw him as a dad, he had seen Izuku as a son for as long as he could remember.

"Well son, you're lucky your dad brought you in when he did, much longer you may have passed out from blood loss. What happened?"

"I fell with a glass in my hand and then tried to catch myself with the hand carrying the glass." Izuku hummed, he wasn't the best at lying but it seemed to work as the doctor hummed and wrote something down.

"Well, we're going to keep you here for a bit just to monitor and make sure we didn't miss anything then you can go home with your dad." and with that the doctor left, Toshinori looked over at Izuku who was staring at the ceiling.

"How are you feeling?" Toshinori questioned Izuku hummed but didn't respond. "What really happened my boy?"

"I'm sorry for calling you, you must have been busy." Izuku sighed rubbing his eyes trying to fight off the drowsiness the drugs were causing.

"Izuku," Toshinori grabbed his hand making Izuku look at him, he only used Izuku's first name when he was being serious. "I promise you it wasn't a problem, you needed me, nothing is more important to me than knowing you're ok."

Izuku could feel tears welling in his eyes then start streaming down his cheek, Toshinori stood up and pulled Izuku into a hug, careful of Izuku's bandages as he held the base of Izuku's neck while Izuku cried into his chest.
