Meeah

During the party a few people have been trying to pull me out of the table I've been sitting at for the last 30 minutes. I get that I'm also involved in the birthday celebration but at the end of the day it is Eva's night. My birthday is the following day and I'm not in any celebrating spirits. Everyone has tried. Leelan, Lilly, Eva, the Alpha and Luna. But I kindly rejected it.

It's now time to sing "Happy Birthday!" to Eva. So everyone can get their groove on. I told them not to sing to me being that it still isn't my birthday and I want her to at least have that to herself.

Everyone surrounded the cake table, Eva standing behind it, and happily sang to her. Her smile is beaming, so bright anyone can see it from a mile away. Leelan is standing right beside me and grabs my hand. I love it but hate it. I'm not sure if I make any sense, but I know that if we are not mates this will emotionally kill me, adding more damage to the broken girl I am.

All of a sudden, Leelan's body became very tense. Before I could even speak up, Alpha Theo did.

"All elders, women and children to the underground shelter, NOW!" I froze. Leelan turns me to him and lifts my chin to face him.

"Little wolf, go with my mother and Eva. I will be back." With that he kissed my head and ran off with many other warriors that were in the room.

I could feel someone pulling at my arm and could hear them calling my name. But it was as if I were stuck in place. Reliving the day my mother told me to run. The day I lost everything.

"Meeah! Please let's go!" I snapped out of it as I heard Eva's pleading voice. I let myself go with her. As much as I would rather run after Leelan, I am of no use. I will distract him more than help him.

As we all get into the underground shelter, and everyone watches the luna lock it from the inside, I look around. I see all the terrified faces of the pack members. Mothers, sisters, wives, daughters all worried for their family member that is out there defending their people. My heart ached for them all. My heart ached as I couldn't be of much help. To them. To Leelan.

"They will get through this, please do not worry." The Luna said, trying to reassure everyone. I'm not even sure who is attacking us. I have a gut feeling it's Cain. Because what other pack really has to fight against this pack? My fear sky rockets and I feel an oncoming panic attack. I try breathing in and out, trying to make sure it doesn't escalate.

"Meeah, it'll be ok. You are safe. They will come back to us." I heard Eva's voice right beside me as she wrapped an arm around me to comfort me.

"She's right, you know, they will come back." Lilly spoke up. I simply nodded, but felt the silent tears running down my face.

What have I brought upon this pack? They would have never been invaded if it weren't for me. Cain would have never bothered them if it weren't for me. Why did Leelan have to save me? My thoughts have brought me to a complete breakdown.

"I'm so sorry." I whispered to Eva. She held me tighter.

"There is nothing to be sorry about Meeah. Everything will be ok." I couldn't say another word. My heart is shattered. She isn't understanding how much danger I've put upon them. Cain will not stop.
