Chapter 7
Bluemoon kingdom is the biggest, richest and known land of werewolves in the North hemisphere. There are only two things people are crazy about in the North. The mating season that werewolves got crazier in heat and the royal family of the Bluemoon pack where Alpha Ronaldo rules with an iron fist. They say the full moon in the North is clear and bright. And, Alpha Ronaldo's ego is bigger than his castle but all of it changed when his third son, Aiden was born.
He is impulsive, inflexible and known for his temper that no one wants to witness. There is hardly any rule of blue moon pack he had not twisted for his own cause. Losing his mom, and being the only orphan royal he had got the attention of the masses. They say only the moon goddess can save the soul that would be fated to him. And, that's the only thing he disagrees with the media. He knows his mate will be the luckiest one. She only has to accept his every whim and how hard that can be?
Ronaldo was always known for his just but cruel ways. There is a saying about Ronaldo. You are in trouble if you are his enemy but you are in more trouble if you are his friend.
People look at Esther, Ronaldo's Luna as the richest woman in the world. She is tall and beautiful. Esther does everything right and respects Ronaldo. She looks best, cares about the image of the royals and gave twin sons to Ronaldo. She thought she had it all until Ronaldo found his mate, Rosina. She was alpha's daughter and belonged to a pack that was on the extreme border. The rules are meant above everything in the Bluemoon pack and the rules asked Esther to step down from Luna's position and only mother the two sons in the castle she has birthed.
For the first time, this rule was neglected by none other than Rosina. She refused to be Luna or care about the castle and pleasantries. She was always a fighter in her father's pack but now was obsessed with Ronaldo. Rosina was jealous of Esther who was difficult to stir. If there is one thing that Rosina was going to regret until her death was why she didn't meet Ronaldo before Esther.
Rosina had trained in the harshest conditions and there was no way she had the time to look pretty. Esther was nothing more than a keeper of the castle in her eyes while on the other hand, she gets to be the shadow of Ronaldo all the time. In her previous life, she would run to the rogue lands and slay for the fun. But now there is only one thing she wanted. All of the Ronaldo, only for her. He was the only territory she wanted. Of course, Ronaldo could see whatever she was up to but given her young age, he wanted to give her time. At least, this is what he told himself because no matter what this pull he felt for Rosina he didn't have the strength to shout at her.
It didn't take anyone time to realize that Rosina doesn't like rules and to be told. She was witty and would always find to get things her way. Her love for the battlefield was not feminine. She wasn't the first woman who trains but Rosina was different. There was a sparkle in her eyes and no fear whenever she hears about an attack. As if she yearns for chaos.
Ronaldo who was used to of submissive Esther finds Rosina a little challenging yet amusing. Rosina was a famous fighter in her pack too but being Ronaldo's mate got her attention like never before. The talk about the royals of Bluemoon pack was a spicy one after Rosina's addition and was mentioned in papers and magazines of every pack.
A company launched a car and named it after Rosina and her birth year for how fast it was. The news of Rosina getting pregnant made Ronaldo a little hopeful. At least, now he wanted to see a Rosina who is not reckless. He wanted her to be less mouthy but knew she can't be tamed. Sometimes he wonders if the moon goddess was making fun of him for how his mate was a walking disaster. For some time Ronaldo had stopped going against her wishes. Because when she doesn't follow him it makes him look like he has no control over his mate.
Their pack wasn't against the woman's choice but everyone was expected to be extremely careful if a female wolf is pregnant. But unlike most women, Rosina refuses to stay indoors to avoid any bad eye. She believed if her baby is strong enough and meant to be no bad luck can reach him.
The news gathered an uproar that ranged between appreciation and severe criticism. Esther who seemed to have made peace with the presence of Rosina in her home sent her gifts during her pregnancy that Rosina set on fire. She didn't want to do anything with Esther and acted as if she was superior among all. Rosina didn't want a position that could stay grey. For her, a person was either a friend or foe. And, she knew a person's nature can never be changed. There was no way she could consider Esther a friend.
Rosina was spontaneous and likes it when she sees how everyone wants to know about her. She gave birth to three pups but two died on the spot. People whispered about how she was punished for her reckless behaviour. She hated how people only knew how to talk and didn't want to consider her condition. To escape the voices she threw herself on the battleground. Or she knew anger and sorrow would consume her.
This time it seems she wanted to go for the unseen lands, that is rumoured to have Echidna and Centaurus. Under sheer pressure from all packs, alphas complaining and disapproval of the general public, Ronaldo ordered Rosina to move back into the castle. She was never to kill anyone and leave the capital until she realizes the consequences of her behaviour.
She would cause fits in the castle and all the servants feared her. She wasn't made for the capital or city and missed running into the wilderness.
Her tribe was the most basic with wilderness and beautiful sceneries. The day she found out she has mated to the Lycan king was her happiest day. She was finally getting out of her father's criticism and even planned to shape how the monarchy would work. She wanted to make werewolves the superior among all creatures. She wanted to discover the unseen lands holding Ronaldo's hand but staying in the castle didn't have it all. What reached her ear was the complaints filed against her by the alphas of several packs.
To think that someone has the authority to dictate what her Lycan king should do had her burning with even more rage. She wonders why Ronaldo let them talk. Ronaldo tells her this is how they keep packs from fighting each other but she couldn't help but consider this peace was fake.
Ronaldo wanted to rule and maintain the balance, but she could notice that werewolves were getting too convenient with peace. Rogues, vampires and things that lure her into the darkness make her uncomfortable. And, now when she looks at the boy in her arms she fears he will have the same thoughts as his father.
Getting out she started meeting new people in the capital. Some do think like her but they were always called out for the hunger for power and blood. She realizes that their elders didn't raise this strong kingdom to get lost in the comfort. They were fighters, descendants of conquerors, and to be feared for their unity. This is why the traitors in the pack were dealt horribly for it ensures that no one thinks to backstab the alphas and king. Peace had been great but it had started producing wolves who are nothing but all talk. They can't wage a war so would retort to tarnish the other packs' image.
She worries that at what price they were living this peace. His son was growing fast and mimicked her expression. Aiden was two years old but already looked like how a six-year-old human would look like. His growth was stunning.
"Mom why there is no one we bow to. Like other alphas?..." Aiden asked his mother who smiled. "That's because you are superior."
"I heard someday Esther's eldest son will be the king. Why I can't be the king just because I am third in the line? It doesn't sound just." Rosina knew it was only on the pretext of peace that they had started telling the firstborn of the king should proceed.
"You are a werewolf above anything else. You can be whatever you want. The only thing stopping Rosina's son should be himself."
"Don't you want to see me become the king? I can do it for you?" Rosina smirked shaking her head.
"You becoming the king or not doesn't bother me. I want you to be feared. They should fear what you are thinking, what you are going to do and what you are going to be. Only this will take you to the heights meant for you. I want you to live for you, Aiden."
"I want to be the king," Aiden repeated and Rosina smirked. "So, be it..." She kneed in front of his son and looked at him with pride in her eyes. "...but will you be fearless and strongest?"
"Yes, I will train hard." Rosina smiled shaking her head. "You don't need to train to be strong. Do you wanna know where your power lies?" Aiden nodded his head and she lovingly got her hand on his heart. "Here...in your heart. Do what it tells you. It can tell you wrong things too but I want you to figure it out all by yourself. I will love you no matter what you will turn out to be, Aiden."
"Is this true that you are here without your consent?" This time she pulled his ear. "No one can tell me what to do young pup. It's my heart...and, it belongs to Ronaldo."
"Mom!" Aiden yelled and Rosina smiled. "And, Ronaldo wants me here." Rosina left him with a jerk and Aiden winced.
"I can't wait for the day I will be the king," Aiden said looking at their vast pack from the balcony.
"I won't be there, honey," Rosina said and Aiden narrowed his eyes. "Why?"
"It means your father won't be alive and, I better go before him." Aiden knew how much his mother loves his father. If anything this bond that they shared had the pull he had never witnessed in any couple.
Like his mom, Aiden enjoyed keeping the staff at home on the move and loves to be at the top of the highest post of the castle. He swears he could see the whole world from here. It was tall and gave him a different kind of satisfaction.
It was his eighth birthday and the castle was looking forward to the feast. His twin elder brothers, Noelle and Geodon were never rude to him. They even sent him gifts that Aiden made sure they knew he hated.
He was ready for the party but was sitting in his mother's room while his mother made the staff fuss over a diamond necklace that he knew his mother had hidden on her own. He wanted to be out because all of the alphas were there. He was looking forward to the race he was participating in to catch a bird. He loved to run and it was the first time his mother was going to watch him.
Ronaldo had to come into Rosina's chamber to ask her what she will take to go out to the birthday party. She smiled looking at Ronaldo and whispered. "I want to stand on your left."
Ronaldo offered her a glare but he also knew that Esther will not make a fuss about it.
"Fine," He replied and Aiden smiled wishing now was the time to go out. "I kind of changed my mood. I want you to take me on a vacation for a week. I also want to visit my father which means..."
"Borders and you! No!" Ronaldo said and Rosina huffed.
"Dad please..." Aiden looked at Ronaldo and Ronaldo shook his head and walked to Rosina. Aiden for a moment feared his father's posture. He couldn't see his mom behind his dad but a moment later he found the necklace in his father's hand.
"You can still stand by my left. I want you downstairs with me...right now." Aiden smiled when his mother started walking beside his father and they were finally down.
Aiden walked ahead and ran outside not caring about his parents walking behind him. He was looking forward to seeing some of the alphas and betas who visit his father most of the time anyway.
He had his way of talking to alphas and mimics his father to talk about their lands. He was known as a fun kid and today was his day. Everyone was suited fine but his mother's glow was different. In her golden attire walking beside the king of Lycans', she topped the show. The cake was cut and now was the time to run the race. Gideon and Noelle were big for the game and were not participating. But they walked to wish Aiden the best. "Don't lose the game. It can complicate your day."
"Remember brother, there is no losing for us. It's not an option." Aiden didn't return their gesture in any way but only looked at his mom to signal to have her eyes on him. The bird was freed and Aiden ran after it with all he got.
His eyes were only focused on the bird but soon he got distracted by a silver spear that passed over his vision. His feet got gradually slower while his eyes followed the shiny huge object that projected to where his father was standing. He looked at his mom getting ahead. Everyone seemed shocked and looked at the source only to find a man with a mask. Warriors ran and guests shifted to werewolves all at the same time. Not being able to look at his mom he made a run to where his mother was standing a few moments ago.
His father wasn't there and his mom was lying there gasping for air alone. There was no one beside her except her son, Aiden. She tried to pass a smile to him before she whispered. "I love you," The phrase was unknown to him but he held the spear only to get his hands burned.
Few soldiers stood at some distance and remained alert to not let anyone come near to where Rosina and her son were. As a werewolf, he remembered the very first time he looked into his mother's eyes. She was everything he had known so far but now those same beautiful eyes seems to lose focus and weren't really looking at him.
"Mom...no...no..." His hands held the spear again to remove it only to realize it was burning his hand.
"Don't..." Gideon was the first to hold his wrists and he hit Gideon to leave him. Gideon tightened his hold on him and growled. "She is dead,"
The rebels were found and killed. The ones who ran away were to be caught. No one was to be spared. The immediate families of the rebels were attacked and murdered. But nothing could made his mother to breathe.
It seems some alphas were planning to end the monarchy and schemed to kill Ronaldo. Once it was confirmed that there was no other motive except the greed for power Ronaldo ordered to behead everyone. The rule says that the traitor's blood can ruin the roots of the kingdom and no mercy was shown to any pup related to the traitor's blood. And, when it was Alpha of a pack that commits treason. Their whole pack had to pay the price.
Noelle and Gideon managed to lock their brother up in his room with much difficulty because he wasn't letting go of dead body. While Ronaldo only realized his absence at the burial of his mate when it was too late. For a moment, he wanted him there but then didn't want him to know where his mother was buried.
That night the moon appeared red. The guards asked Aiden to eat something but he refused. It was only his father's scent that got him alert. His father entered the space and Aiden ran to him. "That was meant for you. Why didn't you save her? Why weren't you fast enough?" Ronaldo didn't say anything until he wasn't calm and once he found him a little slower in his punches his father held him in his lap.
"She was a born tracker and a guardian. She could sense danger before me. I have killed every traitor Aiden and your mother is in peace now, son. She is in the heavens looking at us."
Aiden heard his father but could tell his father was short-sighted. He knew killing packs would get people to fear them but it wasn't enough. Aiden could tell his mother was right all along. Peace was never the option.
Though Ronaldo wanted to include Aiden in the family he was always distant. It made him wonder if Esther was being unfair to him and he made it clear that anyone who is found annoying Aiden will be going against him. Ronaldo wasn't the only person who couldn't stop thinking about Aiden. All the packs had their eyes on Aiden to see what the orphan prince was up to.
Aiden on the other hand was vocal every time about him being the only king in the future. The elitist considered him rude, arrogant or delusional but Aiden knew one thing for sure. Fear ruled everything.
Since his childhood, he had an interest in artillery. Though he got trained he knew nothing else could make masses fear than the fear of something they can't control. Anyone could get the training. He too loved to give media the glimpses of his well-built body but the fear of what kind of guns and explosives Aiden was working on had a kind of sensation like nothing.
He had to wage war with the rouges every other year. And, though most of the people considered him a threat to peace there were many who were convinced that werewolves' peace didn't mean not knowing how to advance their strategies. Outside the kingdoms, there were dark areas. Areas where even the sun couldn't reach and they had to be prepared no matter what was lurking there. Some other kingdoms were wary of Aiden's ideology too. He was a prince of an advanced and modern state. And, soon he was the only royal of the blue moon pack who was discussed the most. He had his mother's ring in a chain and many got the eyebrow piercing after him.
Aiden had a different kind of following. His followers were not to be swayed by any other thing. His artillery company used to launch something new every six months. In the start, no one cared but later he had a lot of cases against him. Aiden who had learned all the rules and researched how most twisted cases were won in the court was always well prepared. There wasn't a single attack he made on the rouges without having them striking first. But how he always never put an end to it whenever it starts was another case.
They say he was an ideology and girls had his pictures in their rooms. He was only sixteen when papers started publishing if he could be the next king. People were submitting their thesis on him. It was asked how the future would be if he was the king and people knew one thing for sure. It was going to be safe.
If there was one thing he couldn't stand and lost control over? It was the traitors. A traitor must come to an end with his whole immediate family no matter what. And, if it is an Alpha? His whole pack had no option but to breathe their last.
Noelle and Gideon were sought after princes too. Noelle was stupid enough to believe that he can get the throne if he follows the rules but Gideon always knew Aiden was not good news for them. Gideon had his own strategy and was always close to his uncle Thomas. He would follow his advice and would always stir the media whenever he could against Aiden.
Aiden never celebrated his birthday after that but the moment Noelle found his mate he too got a little more active in the social parties discreetly. If anything he wanted to have an heir before Noelle.
But not finding his mate anywhere he made sure that Noelle lost his chance to produce too. His agency was swift to find him evidence against his future sister in law, Brie. She used to have two sugar daddies in her previous life.
Brie was ready to do anything to keep her image intact and Aiden only asked for one thing. He didn't want her to get pregnant until he doesn't allow it.
Noelle always hated how his wife feared Aiden. For how Noelle and Gideon had their faces sour after looking at him Aiden knew he was right to not see them as friends ever. Unlike, Noelle and Gideon, Aiden wasn't into everything luxury. He had worked in sweats and travelled for his business in artillery. He had experienced living in motels, had his own concert meet-ups with his followers, drove the longest roads or climbed the most dangerous mountains.
He was never short on money but he knew where exactly to get his softer side and show them he was one of them. Their own. Though he had private jets and mansions to use they were never in his media feed. It was more about artillery or how he drove and met new common people.
Others could think that he was a nice person but Gideon knew that he even breathes for the sake of the throne. Gideon was always unsettled with his popularity graph and if it wasn't the fear of getting killed he wanted to kill Aiden at times.
Aiden didn't have any close friends. He only had his employees or followers. And, he knew ways to keep his following hot-blooded and engaged.
No matter how much Gideon would spend on the bloggers to write him as a threat to peace, his followers knew he was a powerful wave. There were people who felt heard because of him. And, there was no rule he had broken. Aiden knew how to play this game and he could ace it because he was alone in this. He would plan, execute and manage all of his objectives on his own. And, that only tells Gideon and his uncle Thomas that he wasn't coming slow. He was a lone wolf. He didn't need anyone for his win.
But there was only one thing Aiden has no control over. And, that was fate. Because if it was in his hands he would have found his mate already. He wonders where she was. For how many times he had attended balls discretely sometimes he was convinced that he wasn't fated with anyone. He had dated a few times in secret wondering if following his father's footsteps was the way for him. But whenever he starts considering someone that girl finds her mate. And, though almost all of them wanted to reject their mates Aiden didn't want to do anything with these girls who could want to reject the sacred bond.
It only meant that rules meant nothing for those girls. And, he wanted someone submissive. Someone who lives by the rules. He didn't know what kind of mate he will have. But he knew one thing. He wanted unwavering support and not someone who only wanted a mate to live a fantasy life with a famous prince. She was to follow his every order. Because there was no way he could be wrong.
