2. War

Alliances were everything, any pack could be strong but packs with alliances were stronger.
Once Pack BlueBlood had been the whisper of the woods, everyone feared it almost as much as the Wolf King.

Yet, here it was now falling apart from within. Violet wanted to stay true to her words though, with a map she had borrowed from the Alpha her plan started to form.
The Alpha hardly paid any attention to the pack anymore, he would only ever glance over when leaving to go pull in more debt.

Well, that disinterest served Violet greatly, while part of her still stayed cautious the rest was absorbed into the map she shared with the pack house.

"The closest pack to us is CrimsonClaw, they've slowly been sliding towards more neutral as of late but with a bit of persuasion, I think they can sway. The rest of the packs will follow shortly, only one that might cause trouble would be GoldGuild...and they are the farthest."

Estimating the journey it would take at least two weeks, possibly longer without escort there would be no way GoldGuild wouldn't hear of the tyranny ahead.
Nor would they interfere.

There was only one issue that Violet could not ignore, her first shift could happen any day but until then she wouldn't survive a rogue attack.
So traveling alone was practically suicide, glancing around she calculated the eyes staring at her.

"Liam, will you accompany me?"

Strong, smart, shifted, capable, and has nothing to lose. Liam was one of the few that could actually leave, without a mate and having already shifted before it was the best option.

With a quick nod, he stepped forward,
"Honoured to."

A side of Violet's lips lifted, she lifted a bag and took a deep breath.

"Gather enough supplies for a few weeks, be careful not to raise his attention though."

Without a word he ran to gather everything they would need, meanwhile, Violet addressed the rest of the pack.

"It'll be a while before he notices anything but unfortunately he won't be unaware for long so I'll need you all to cover for us, use whatever you can to keep us undercover. Eventually, he will hear about the rise up, we can't stop gossip..."

Her voice softened,
"But please do what you can, for as long as possible."

In the end, they all smiled at her before leaving the little meeting, Violet snapped a photo of the map with her phone before placing the original back in the Alpha's office.

Liam returned shortly with two bags, it made butterflies flutter in Violet's stomach.
They were actually doing this, leaving the pack grounds and building up a rise. Violet had rarely ever passed the pack grounds since it was so dangerous for an unshifted wolf.

The Alpha was already gone and it was unlikely he would return that night so there was no cause for worry yet.
Still, when the pack followed Violet and Liam toward the edge of the pack grounds there was a thrilling hum in her chest.

As they walked past the borderline the pack waved and cheered, slowly becoming silent further into the forest they went.

"So which way Luna?"
"If we start heading this way we'll avoid the road which will delay us by a day or so...or we could go through the road and be there early?"

The road was down the middle of the forest and while it wasn't extremely dangerous in human forms it was risky, shifted were instructed not to be anywhere near as they could be spotted.

And yes while many would accept the existence of Shifters it would be just as dangerous, risky, and a lot of paperwork.

"Let's avoid the road, no point in causing any trouble and if it's only a day it's not that bad."

Violet grinned at him,
"Agreed, in that case, we go this way."

As she started taking a step forward Liam nudged her a little more to the side.
"This way Luna."
"Ah! I knew that."

It's just she would forget all the time, but now in the right direction, they both started walking.
Twenty minutes later peeking over at Liam and almost tripping over her own feet Violet spoke.

"Can you carry me?"

A second of silence passed before he sighed, nodded, and shifted. Lowering his back and letting her on,

"Thank you."
