Taylor

SO I've gotten a few requests for this and I like the idea so I'm going with it. Chapters will now go Syrra, Kaine, choice POV, Syrra, Kaine, choice POV, Syrra, Kaine, choice POV, etc. This way I can put more chapters out too cause I really enjoy writing Syrra and Kaine. This chapter would normally be a choice POV so I'm doing Taylor because it was the runner up to Syrra in the last poll.

I hope you enjoy!!!!

*******

I know staring is rude, but it's hard not to when a really attractive person decides to rip off their shirt right in front of you.

I shake my head and drag my eyes away from his bare chest. I let out a heavy sigh. "What the hell are you doing Logan?" I murmur.

He bounces on his feet, shaking out his shoulders and adjusting the wraps over his hands. The bulging muscles covering his body and smirk on his face would be intimidating if he was next to an average werewolf—even next to a trained warrior. But Beta Logan is absolutely puny next to Jaxon.

"—and Alpha Jaxon are both undefeated, but tonight will be the end of one of their winning streaks!" Megan declares.

Jaxon looks so annoyed with the whole situation. He didn't even want to fight but Beta Logan had insisted—well, more like bugged the crap out of him until Jaxon finally gave in.

I hear a bell ding and hold my breath. The beta immediately rushes at Jaxon who throws a punch at his face. His fist hits the side of Logan's jaw and he collapses onto the concrete floor. I shake my head, cursing under my breath when he doesn't get up.

Jaxon shoves the door open and pushes his way through the swarm of people. The club was instantly packed with wolves after the beta challenged him, though I don't know why. Everyone knows his fights are really short.

"What are you drinking?" He asks as he sits down at the bar beside me.

"It's just an iced tea," I shrug, taking another sip.

He nods, waving over Lindsay and asking for a soda. He puts his elbows on the bar and holds his head in his hands. He tugs at his hair.

My eyes wander over his figure. He is extremely fit but his muscle is lean. He normally looks very tall and lanky with his clothes on.

My gaze is drawn to the tattoo on his shoulder. He rarely goes without a shirt so this is the first time I've gotten a good look at it. It is a black tribal design with thick lines and looks like it could be a rune or sigil of some kind.

"Where's your shirt?" I ask, struggling to look away.

He sighs. "Sorry, someone took it from me before the fight and I have no idea what happened to it after that," he mumbles.

"Ah okay," I mutter.

Are you still here? A voice echoes in my mind.

Yeah, why?

He's starting to wake up but he's really dizzy and can't walk on his own.

I sigh heavily. I'll be there in a second, I say.

I look over at Jax who is staring at his soda. "Are you okay?" I ask.

"Just thinking."

I gently put a hand on his shoulder. "You know, talking about it might help. You're not the only one who misses him," I tell him. I kiss his cheek lightly before making my way to the back room.

Megan sits on the floor of the tiny storage room with Logan laying down beside her, his head in her lap. She looks relieved when I walk in. "Oh thank the goddess. He's being a huge pain in the ass. He won't get up and he keeps saying weird things that make no sense and he's drooling," she says with a grimace.

I sigh. "Yeah that sounds like Logan," I mumble.

With Megan's help I am able to get him to stand with his arm draped over my shoulders. I hold his arm with one hand and hold his body up with my other. He is extremely heavy and can't seem to hold his own weight much at all.

"My goddess Logan, why are you such a dumbass?" I breathe, slowly leading him out the back of the club.

"I didn't know he could punch that hard," he says, his words barely coherent and not much louder than a whisper.

"Yeah he can punch really hard. You're lucky he went easy on you, the last wolf that challenged him was out cold for a few days and then had a concussion afterwards."

He frowns, deep creases appearing in his forehead. "Wolves can get concussions?" It's almost like he's drunk. His words slur and his head bobs a little as he walks.

"Not really, he's just that strong," I sigh.

As we travel through the trees he starts to support himself a little better. After a few minutes he is walking mostly on his own but I don't let go of him. He keeps trying to turn and can't seem to walk straight so I guide him to his house, watching the setting sun cast a red shadow over the trees.

Inside I catch Mykael's scent and he comes out of the kitchen shaking his head. "Logan you are a complete moron if you actually thought you could beat Jaxon in the Ring," he chuckles.

Logan makes a face at him and struggles out of my grip. I growl. "Logan you're going to hurt yourself if you—"

"I'm fine just let go!" he whines, making a face at me.

I do as he says and watch him take a step forward before falling. I wince as his face hits a nearby table on his way to the floor.

He rolls onto his back, staring at ceiling. His lip is bleeding and his cheek is bright red.

I turn to Mykael who is shaking his head, his arms crossed. "I think he might have brain damage," I say.

He snorts. "He's always been like this. His dad was a great beta and a great father but his judgement was a little clouded. He was certain Logan would make a really good beta but most of us weren't sure, Daerius was really reluctant to give him the title. Plus, Logan is a little young to be a beta, it kinda makes him look stupid sometimes," he says.

"What happened to Beta Cadyn?" I ask.

"He was helping Lyza with the dragons and he got burned really badly. He couldn't heal from his injuries and so he left his title to Logan. He lives in another pack now with his mate."

"I need pizza or I'm going to die!" A voice suddenly shouts.

I look over at Logan and see him sitting upright, his eyes wide and alert.

"Well it looks like he's feeling better," I sigh.

"Food," he repeats, looking at Mykael.

"Me too man," I murmur.

Mykael narrows his eyes at us before trudging to the kitchen. "I swear all you guys do is eat," he growls.

I smile a little and look back at the beta. His lip was healing but the blood stain running down his chin remained. He manages to pull himself to his feet and slumps onto the couch a few feet away. He lets out a long groan and face plants into a pillow. "Remind me to never challenge Jaxon again."

I roll my eyes. "You didn't even listen the last time I told you that," I snap.

He doesn't say anything, just makes a muffled moaning noise into the cushion.

"Are you going to be okay or do I need to call Niko?" I ask.

He shakes his head a little. "Call him if I stop breathing," he says into the pillow.

"You are such a drama queen," I snort. "I'm going to bed, try to keep it down okay?"

He makes a noise and I sigh. I shake my head and head upstairs to my room. It still looks like a guest room for the most part but I've tried to make it look like home. My tv, a few movies, some photos, my books, and the gifts I've gotten over the years.

Almost all of them are either from Kaine or Jaxon, there's pair of earrings from Maia and a bracelet from my mom on the dresser, but the ones I really care about are from the brothers.

On the nightstand is a stack of drawings—every single one of them Jaxon drew. I sit down on my bed and look through them, being careful not to smudge the pencil. He's been drawing since he was really young and so he got ridiculously good at it. I shake my head with a small smile, still amazed by his skills.

My favorite is a portrait he drew of me and Kaine. I find it in the stack and a grin forms on my lips. I am laying in his lap by the pool, his chin resting on the top of my head and his arms wrapped around me.

I later found out that Jaxon made Kaine keep me there so he could finish it, at the time I thought he was just trying to annoy me by coming up with stupid excuses for me to lay still.

Everything is always so simple before you turn 16. After you shift it just gets complicated and hard and you can't just have fun anymore because it actually affects the rest of your life.

I sigh and realize I was fiddling with my necklace again. I pull it off of my neck and set it down with the drawings. It had a black moon pendant on it. Kaine somehow made it out of some special stone that you can only find near the volcanoes. It was shiny in the light and smooth to the touch.

I take a deep breath and head to the bathroom to take a shower but I end up just standing there with the water thrumming against my back. I close my eyes and tilt my head back so that it runs over my face.

"He's going to come back, you know that right?"

I nodded a little. "Yeah I know, I just want him to come back in one piece," I muttered. My head was resting on his chest, letting me feel his heartbeat. It was steady and comforting.

He sighed, hugging my waist tighter and kissing my shoulder. "Your dad is going to be fine. Now come on, let's go do something fun. It's been too long since I've seen you smile," he said and I couldn't help it when my lips curled upwards. "There's that beautiful smile," he purred, craning his head to kiss my cheek.

I turned around in his arms and he leaned downthen paused. He looked at me with a questioning gaze so I closed the distance. I kissed him softly, closing my eyes at the feeling of his fingers trailing lightly up my spine.

His hand was cupped around my face and I inhaled sharply when I realized it was different when Kaine kissed me. I didn't see my brother's face. I didn't feel his hands around my throat or his tongue in my mouth. I felt safe.

I open my eyes and let out a shuddering breath. It feels like a lifetime ago. Every guy I've ever been with always brought back what my brother did to me, except when I was with Kaine—or Jaxon. I thought it would get better with time but it still hasn't. The brothers are the only guys that I have ever felt safe around.

*********

I roll my eyes. "Okay seriously, it's not that difficult. Just find your name and sign next to it," I growl.

"But my name isn't on here!"

"Then as I said before, you need to get your alpha or beta on the phone," I snap.

He makes a face at me then walks away, messing with his phone. I groan in frustration and put my elbows on the counter, holding my head in my hands. I hate my fucking job.

And this morning you were so excited to go back to work. Is it just me or is that a perfect metaphor for life? Pandora mutters.

I snort. Too true, I mumble.

"I can help who's next!" I call, sitting up and watching as a young woman walks up to the counter.

"Hi! I'm coming from the Blue Spruce Pack up north, I just need a day pass so I can pick up my cousin. He's moving to live with me but he's only 15 so I thought it'd be better if I came and got him," she tells me.

I nod. "Yeah 15 year old boys can be trouble. So I just need to see a pack ID."

She hands me a small card and I scan the barcode and check my computer. Her profile pops up with her information.

"What's your date of birth?" I ask.

She tells me and I check that it matches the date on her profile along with the name of her pack. I nod. "Okay just sign your name here and remember, you have to check out and sign your name again before midnight or the guards will come looking for you," I say.

She nods and follows my instructions before taking her card back and walking away. I sigh and flip up my 'closed' sign. I swing my bag over my shoulder, waving to a few of my coworkers before heading to the back of the building.

I really do hate my job but warrior training is expensive and so I can't afford to quit. I don't have family like Maia does to teach me for free so I get to pay the warriors to train me.

I sit down at one of the wooden tables behind the building and pull my sandwich out of my bag. The wind suddenly picks up and I get a mouthful of hair with my food. I make a face. I think the Moon Goddess hates me, I mutter, struggling to get the hair out of my mouth.

I drop my food as an intoxicating scent suddenly passes my nose. I look around wildly, listening to Pandora's growling.

A figure walks out from around the corner of the building, searching just as I am. He spots me and the next thing I know, he is in front of me. "Mate," he growls.

He shoves his lips onto mine and pulls me against him. I feel anxiety shoot through my mind as I try to push him away. He doesn't move right away though and panic sets in. My skin crawls. My heart beats a million miles an hour and my hands are shaking. Memories flood my mind and I can't block them out.

Tay make him stop, Pandora growls firmly.

I shove him away from me hard, jerking back. He stumbles and trips, falling onto his back. His eyes are full of confusion. He starts to get back up and I panic again.

"I reject you as my mate."
