Angel

Angel won by quite a bit and since I've never done her POV I decided to write an extra long chapter that hopefully will explain some stuff that I left (purposefully) unexplained in the first book. And I just have to add:

I hate you (sort of). You know exactly who you are :)

*******

"What part of 'no' do you not understand?" I growl.

"Please Angel I can't do this―"

"And what the fuck makes you think I can?" I snarl, struggling to maintain control of my wolf as I stalk closer.

Her eyes fly wide and she takes a few steps back. "Look I'm sorry! I didn't want to do this to you but Lyza made the wrong choice! I don't have alpha blood and I have no idea what I'm doing! I'm begging you―please!" she whimpers, tears running down her face.

"I said no," I growl before turning away. I hear her shift and take off into the forest only seconds later.

"Well that was brutal," Zella murmurs.

"Telling her nicely didn't seem to get the point across the first three times so I decided to change tactics," I snap, storming through the trees.

My mate follows close behind, letting out a heavy sigh. "She's just a kid Angel, you can't seriously expect her to be able to handle this?"

"Well what the hell do you want me to do?"

"Ease her burden. You don't even have to be queen, all you have to do is be the Alpha―"

I whip around to face her. "You know better than anyone else why I can't do that," I hiss.

She smiles sadly. "I know. All I am saying is you should try to at least consider it. She's just a little girl, she doesn't need this kind of responsibility."

I take a deep breath, closing my eyes. "Fine," I grit out.

I open my eyes when I feel Zella's hands on either side of my face. She kisses me gently on the cheek. "If Lyza can destroy three packs and still be accepted as the queen of the werewolves then you can make them accept you as Alpha of this pack," she says.

I take her hands in mine and hold them tightly to my chest. "What would I do without you?" I whisper, kissing her forehead.

"Don't go soft on me now," she chuckles.

"Shut up and let me be romantic," I growl making her laugh.

"Come on, the babies are hungry and you need to get back to training."

I groan as she tugs me toward the clearing. "Can't we just go home and take a bath?"

"Damn that sounds nice," she murmurs. "Oh! How about you go train the warriors for another half an hour or so while I get something to eat and then we can just relax for the rest of the day?" she suggests.

"That sounds absolutely perfect," I grin.

"Okay, I'll see you in a little while," she says and I give her a kiss quick before bending down to kiss her stomach.

"Bye my babies, I'll see you soon."

"Love you!" Zella calls as she walks through the forest.

"Love you too!" I shout back. I smile as I watch her disappear into the dense trees.

I turn away with a heavy sigh and return to the clearing where the warriors are training—or at least supposed to be training.

"Who gave you a break?" I ask, crossing my arms over my chest.

They leap up in panic. "Our apologies Angel," they say quickly.

"All of you are running laps around the territory. Let's go," I growl, motioning towards the border.

They start to protest and I raise my eyebrow. "Okay fine now you get to chase me around the territory. If I get more than 100 meters in front of the group or hear another complaint then you'll be shoveling snow for the next week. Are we clear?"

They nod and start to shift immediately. I let my wolf take over and drop onto all fours. My red fur stands out like blood against the white snow.

I take off running, slow at first so they can keep up. Then once they're all following, I let my wolf have control and watch as the forest flies past me in a blur.

*******

"Stop playing with my boobs."

"I thought you said they hurt."

"Well playing with them isn't going to help."

I roll my eyes. "I'm not playing with your boobs Zella," I mutter.

Her head falls back onto my shoulder with a groan. "Okay never mind that helps a lot actually," she sighs.

I continue moving my thumbs in slow circles against her chest, watching as she starts to relax.

I reach behind me really quick and turn the water off as the bath fills up. "Did you really have to have so many bubbles?" I ask with a frown.

"Of course! Bubble baths are so much more fun than regular baths!"

I shake my head a little but can't help smiling. "Whatever you say," I mutter, kissing the side of her head.

I hear her breathing slow along with her heartbeat. I keep massaging her chest, letting my mind wander as my mate starts to drift off.

I scrubbed the dirt and blood from my body, hissing as the hot water hit my raw skin. I rinsed my hair, cringing when my fingers caught in the tangles.

It took nearly an hour of bathing for me to finally feel clean. I dried myself off and searched through the dresses in the closet. They were all absolutely gorgeous and looked super expensive; made of silk and covered with jewels—I was almost afraid to wear it.

I finally found one that looks like it would fit and slipped it on. My eyes widened as I moved in front of the mirror.

Deep red silk clung to my body, showing off curves I didn't really have. It was simple, no elaborate designs or stones but I couldn't imagine wearing something like it at home. Not even for special occasions.

My head snapped toward the door at the sound of a knock. I opened it and my heart pounded at the sight of the guard. They looked more like a hunter than a guard actually—black cloth covering the nose and mouth, a hood casting a shadow over their face, a sword on their back—the only semblance to a guard was the glowing red gaze and black armor.

The guard pulled down the mask and my eyes went wide. It was a woman.

"Food is being served for you and the other wolves," she told me.

"Is my brother coming?" I asked.

"Your brother is with the princess," she replied.

"Of course he is," I sighed under my breath.

I closed the door behind me then followed the guard through the halls of the palace. It was amazing. The architecture was unlike anything I had ever seen.

"Your wolves should be along in a few minutes. I will escort you back to your room once you are finished," she said as we stepped into a large circular room.

There were tables at the center, completely covered in food. The room was empty aside from the dragon guards and Mykael. He glanced up at me as I walked in.

"I was starting to think they kept you locked in the prison," he remarked.

I sat down across from him with a small smile. "No they gave me my own room and it has the most amazing shower."

He scowled. "I have to share a room with one of the guards. He wouldn't let me use the shower so I had to go next door to another room to get cleaned up," he complained.

He turned around when the doors opened behind him. The guards filed into the room and sat down at the table. They looked so strange in casual clothes.

"Have any of you seen Daerius?" I asked.

They immediately threw me nasty looks and started conversing in low voices, completely ignoring my question.

"I'm getting the feeling that the dragons like me better than you guys do," I muttered in annoyance.

"They won't for long."

I growled, turning to look at the guard. "You're an asshole, you know that?" I snapped.

He shrugged. "You've been called far worse," he smirked.

I snatched a knife from my plate and leapt over the table. The blade was millimeters from piercing his throat when I was yanked away from him.

Arms wrapped around my waist and heaved me backwards. I closed my eyes and tried to get control of my wolf as I was dragged away.

I opened my eyes when my feet touched the ground again. The arms released and I turned around. "You?"

She raised her eyebrow at me. "Surprised?"

"I thought it was Mykael. Why would the dragons care if the wolves try to kill each other?" I asked.

"I didn't want you to do something you'll regret later," she said, motioning for me to walk down the hall.

"I definitely wouldn't regret killing him. All the guards are complete dicks, they've had it coming for years," I growled.

"I heard what he said. He didn't seem an honorable man so his death would not be too great a loss but still, death is not something to be taken lightly."

I found myself staring a little. She just destroyed every preconception I'd ever had regarding dragons. "Are you really a guard?"

"Not a traditional guard. I'm a sky warrior," she said.

"What's a sky warrior?"

"I ride another dragon into battle. I only shift as a last resort," she told me as we came to my door.

"Wait why? Aren't dragons more powerful in their dragon form?" I asked.

"Sky warriors are dragons with extremely limited control over their dragon form. When they shift, they completely lose control and tend to kill everything that moves—even other dragons on occasion. Most fury dragons become sky warriors," she explained.

"Is Lyza a sky warrior?"

She smiled. "You are quite intelligent for a wolf."

"Can you tell me more about dragons?" I found myself asking.

Her smile turned into a grin. "I'd love to."

****

I leapt off the bed when I heard the knock. I threw open the door and my lips immediately turned upward into a smile.

Her normal armor was gone, replaced by a gray dress. "I was told you were asking for me?" she said.

"Yeah I wanted to talk to you," I sighed. I held open the door wider and she stepped inside.

"Is everything alright?" she asked, her voice filled with concern.

"We're leaving soon."

"What? Why?"

"Because we have to go home. We don't belong here. We have people we need to take care of and issues we have to deal with—the kill order on dragons being the first one," I muttered.

She sighed heavily, sitting down on the bed. "I suppose that's fair. I don't know why I expected you to stay," she mumbled. "When do you leave?"

"We discussed leaving in the morning but I'm not sure I can make my brother leave," I explained, settling down beside her.

"He has a duty to his pack that is far more important than a mate. If he is smart he will realize that. The princess will be sure to remind him of it, she has a responsibility to the dragons as much as he does to his pack."

"Yeah that's what I told him." I bit the inside of my cheek. "Are you on guard right now?"

She smiled, shaking her head. "No I'm on leave for the rest of the night."

I bit my lip, trying to hide my blush. "Want to make the most of the time we have left?"

She smirked. "You're learning," she growled, her eyes flashing red. She pressed her lips against mine and I wrapped my arms around her neck, pulling her closer.

She pushed me down onto the bed as I reached behind her to undo her dress.

'Angel don't you dare!' my wolf snarled at me.

'Shut up Shay! I've never done anything with anyone because you told me to save myself for my mate but I'm not going to wait anymore! It's been 10 years and I still haven't found my mate!' I growled back.

"Are you okay?" she asked, brushing the hair away from my face.

"I'm fine," I said and she kissed me again.

'Angel I said stop!'

I finished unlacing the back of her dress and suddenly everything went black.

I blinked a few times but I still couldn't see anything. 'Shay what the fuck is going on?' I snarled at my wolf.

The darkness faded and I froze.

Her forest green eyes were staring up at me, blank and lifeless. Her throat was torn open and blood was still flowing from the pulsing wound in her neck.

My hands flew to cover my mouth in horror but then the wetness on my fingers almost made me pass out.

I rushed to the bathroom, quickly trying to wash the blood off my hands and face. 'Shay what the fuck did you do?' I screamed, tears streaming down my face.

'I will not allow you to disrespect our mate!' she growled.

Blood stained the counter and covered the front of my dress. My stomach roiled and I immediately threw up into the sink. I collapsed onto the cold tile, violent sobs racking my body.

'They will be looking for her,' Shay said.

I wished she wasn't apart of me. I wanted to kill her so badly at that moment.

I pulled myself up onto shaking legs, wiping the tears from my eyes. I crept back into the bedroom and slapped my hand over my mouth as another sob escaped my lips.

I rushed out of the room, slamming the door shut behind me. Every part of me wanted to scream but I kept my composure as I walked past the guards lining the halls of the palace.

I eventually made my way to Lyza's room and knocked softly. It opened a moment later to reveal Lyza.

She stared at me with a confused frown but then her eyes flared red and she stepped into the hall, closing the door to her room. "What the fuck did you do Angel?" she growled.

"Look I know I've done some shitty things to you and you probably hate me but I really need your help nowI know you care about my brother as much as I do and I can't let anything happen to himPlease help me I'm so sorry I tried to control my wolf but she just took overthere was nothing I could do," I cried, burying my face in my hands as I fell against the wall and slid to the floor.

"Shh, just take a deep breath and tell me what happened," she whispered, crouching down beside me.

I told her everything and she listened to every word. By the time I finished her eyes were full of terror. "You guys need to leave, they will find out soonif they haven't discovered it alreadyand when they do, my uncle is going to have all of you killed. I'm going to check how many guards are around, you need to tell Mykael to get the other wolves and wait just outside the entrance. The guards are more worried about Daerius than his warriors so they should get out pretty easily. Do you understand?"

I nodded quickly. "Lyza justI know I'm not one to be asking for favors right now but please don't tell Daerius. I'm not ready for him to know yet," I pleaded.

"What are you going to tell him?"

"I don't know I'll make something up. I'm not very good at lying so he probably won't believe me no matter what I come up with," I told her.

"Okay, I'll be back in a moment," she muttered and jogged down the hall.

'Mykael wake up!' I shouted in a mindlink.

'What the fuck Angel?' he growled in annoyance.

'We need to leave right now. I will explain everything later but we need to get out of here. Lyza said to take the warriors and sneak out the entrance. She said it should be fairly easy and to just wait there while she gets Daerius and I out. You can't let any of the guards see you. Got it?'

'Yeah I got it,' he replied quickly.

I saw Lyza come running back down the hall and she gave me a nod. I rushed into the bedroom and quickly tried to wake up my brother. I shook his shoulders and he leapt up in a hurry.

"Daerius we have to go, NOW!"

"Hey are you okay?"

I open my eyes and let out a heavy breath that sends a shudder through my chest. Zella cranes her head to look at me, concern filling her eyes.

I realize my cheeks are wet and quickly wipe the tears away. "Yeah I'm fine, I was just thinking," I muttered.

"What were you thinking about?"

"Ruelle," I admit.

"Really?"

"Yeah earlier I let Shay take over for the first time since she—" The words get caught in my throat.

Zella smiles a little, grabbing my hand and interlacing our fingers. "I wish I could have met her," she murmurs.

"I think you would have liked her. She kept me out of trouble while I was in the Devil's Circle, and yelled at me for being stupid at least once a day."

My mate laughs. "I definitely would have liked her," she decides. She is silent for a few moments before speaking again. "You know you never told me what she looked like."

I sigh. "Black hair—so dark it almost looked blue. Her eyes were bright green and she had a body like yours. She had soft skin and even softer lips," I tell her, kissing her neck lightly.

Zella smiles, leaning backwards so her head was on my shoulder again. "She sounds beautiful," she says.

"She was absolutely gorgeous." Shay didn't care though. She was quite pleased with herself in fact. I was too scared to even try to be with anyone that I never had another relationship until I met Zella. She got exactly what she wanted. I saved myself for my mate. And it only took thirty years to find her.

"We should name one of the babies after her."

"What?" I ask in disbelief.

"There are three, at least one is bound to be a girl and we should name her Ruelle."

"Why?"

She shrugs. "Cause your wolf's a bitch and it would be the perfect way to spite her. Shay killed her because she thought it would be disrespectful to me if you had slept together but I couldn't care less. If I had to wait fifteen years to find my mate, I'd have probably slept with someone too."

"Yeah your lucky ass only had to wait half that," I grumble in annoyance.

She rolls her eyes. "So what do you think?"

I kiss her, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "I think it's perfect. Thank you."

******

"I wanted to apologize for yelling at you yesterday. You just need to understand that this pack hates me more than they ever hated Lyza and so me taking over as alpha is an absolutely horrible idea. That's why Lyza chose you and Shawn," I try to explain.

"I don't understand. Why would they hate you?" Taylor asks.

"When I was younger I had the reputation of the pack slut, that's not an easy label to remove," I mutter.

She holds her hands up a little. "Okay please don't take offense to this, but that doesn't sound like something they would just make up for no reason," she says carefully.

"Most wolves find their mates within a few years of them shifting. I was the King's sister, I spent years travelling to other packs and I still hadn't found my mate. I was lonely and I was curious; I wanted to be with somebody. I decided that as long as I never had a meaningful relationship, I would never have any problems when my mate finally came along—if they ever did. My wolf never let me actually do anything though. I tried dozens of times but she kept me from each one. Unfortunately that meant the guards and warriors saw me with dozens of different wolves and rumors quickly spread.

"It didn't matter what I said so I gave up trying to deny their lies. My brother even started to believe them. They called me the pack slut—but the truth is I was a virgin until I met Zella."

She stares at me with wide eyes. "I'm sorry, even if you had slept with all those wolves, that's no reason to call you names or be that mean," she says.

"Yeah well wolves are assholes, they've proved that time and time again," I sigh.

"Do they really hate the idea of you being alpha simply because of that? Cause that's petty, even for them," she mutters.

"Yeah well I was also a major bitch for a long time so they don't like me for that either. Though in my defense, it's hard to be nice when you've been treated like complete shit for that long," I growl.

"I understand that it's a lot I'm asking of you and that it's going to be a huge pain in the ass but I think you can do it. Your mate is one of the most well liked wolves in the pack—she'll make a wonderful Luna. And you're one of the strongest wolves in the pack, you've earned the respect of most of the warriors—despite what you think—so I'm pretty sure it won't take long for them to come around."

"Fine," I growl, "I'll do it."

She squeals and throws her arms around my neck with enough force to knock me backwards a few steps. "Holy crap," I breathe as she squeezes me tighter.

"Sorry I'm just so happy I won't have all this on my shoulders anymore," she says.

"It's fine just take it easy with the hugs," I mutter with wide eyes.

She lets go, a sheepish grin on her face. "You got it, and Shawn and I will help you guys out as much as we can with the babies—I know you're probably going to need it," she laughs.

I hear shouting upstairs and swear. "Speaking of babies," I mumble.

"Angel!"

The panic in her voice makes my heart drop. I shove past Taylor and sprint up the stairs. I find Zella in the hall, barely holding herself up against the wall. Her face is screwed up in pain and her hand is on her swollen belly.

"Shit."

******

Next POV? And please don't say Zella or Angel o.O If I write their POV then I am going to be super gross and scientific and it is not going to be a fun chapter so PLEASE do not pick either of them. (I'm serious, don't do it -_-)
