After Fitz opened his matchmaking list, I couldn't pretend to be not thrilled. Sophie was only 50th on Fitz's list, which means that I still had a chance with her! I couldn't pretend to not like Sophie. I mean, she was absolutely wonderful! It was too bad that she liked Fitz though. However, I was higher on her list then Fitz! What did that mean? 

I was so busy thinking that I didn't hear when the others had started voting again. I looked up, confused. I saw everyone staring at me. 

"The vote has spoken," Sophie said dramatically. "Keefe Sencen will now open his matchmaking list. It was UNANIMOUS!!!" 

"Wait..." I said. "I have to open my list!?" 

"Yup," Tam said. "You scared Keefe?" 

"Not at all Bangs Boy," I shot back. "And, even if I was, which I am not, at least I wasn't stuttering and looking like I had peed my pants like you did!" 

"At least I had the guts to volunteer to open mine, unlike you!" Tam shot back at me. 

"Please!" I said. "I'm almost 100% sure that Biana volunteered you." 

"Let's just STOP!" Biana said, putting her hands out between me and Tam. Now, I used to like Biana, just as I was pretty sure that Biana had used to like me. But, when we decided to join the Black Swan, which seemed like such a long time ago, I had stopped liking Biana and started to like Sophie. 

"Yeah," Dex said. "We should stop. Like, right now. Keefe, you have to open your matchmaking list. You are the last person."  Dex was always an unusual person. I sometimes felt bad for him. I mean, he liked Sophie longer than anyone, then got rejected. I was also pretty sure that he used to like Biana, but then she got Tam. I also think that Dex used to like Linh, then gave up on her. I wondered who Dex liked now. 

"He's not the last person Dex!" Linh said. "You still haven't opened your list yet! I know that you don't want to, but you can't fool everyone in this room!" 

Dex paled and everyone laughed. Well, obviously everyone except Dex. 

"Way off topic!" Fitz said, holding up his hands. "Keefe is supposed to open his list right now!" Fitz seemed so much happier now that he knew that Linh liked him back, and also that Tam had given them his permission. Fitz actually joked now! 

I glanced at Tam and he rolled his eyes in response to me. I was pretty sure that he knew what I was referring to. Fitz and Linh. I hated to admit it, but beside me, Tam pretty much saw and figured out everything that most people hadn't figured out. Besides me, obviously. I was way better than him.  

"Okay," I said, unrolling the list, pretending that I wasn't terrified. "I'll start by reading the introduction." I cleared my throat dramatically and waited. 

"What are you waiting for?'" Fitz asked. "Just do it!" 

"NIKI!!!" I said. Everyone groaned and I laughed. "I'm waiting for everyone's attention to be focused on me!" I coughed twice. "That means you too Bangs Boy." 

Tam rolled his eyes, but he looked at me. "Get on with it," he said. 

"Okay," I said. I was sweating now as I read the introduction. "Congrats Keefe Sencen! We have deemed that you like females! You like girls with blond hair and interesting eyes who are determined, headstrong and protective of others." 

Tam coughed. "Totally not Sophie," 

Sophie flushed bright red and Linh glared at Tam. "Ignore my brother, he can be annoying sometimes," she said.

"I agree, 100%," I said to Linh.

39. Linh Song

"WHY IS LINH 39th ON LIST KEEFE?" Tam asked fiercely. "I AM FINE WITH FITZ BUT YOU? NEVER IN A THOUSAND YEARS!! I REFUSE TO BE RELATED TO YOU!" 

Fitz also glared daggers at me. I rolled my eyes. "Really Fitz? You know that I would never steal Linh from you. Ever." 

Linh cleared her throat. "I AM NOT PROPERTY THAT CAN BE STOLEN OR KEPT! I can think for myself!" 

"Just move on before we have bloodshed," Biana said, patting Tam softly on the shoulder. 

20. Biana Song 

"Don't stop here," Sophie advised, looking worriedly at Tam, who had his fists balled. "We might be in trouble if we stop here."

'Listen to Sophie," Dex said. "We have to keep going on the list," 

Linh and Biana were both trying to sooth Tam by now, and I decided that they were right. We should probably move on. 

7. Sophie Foster 

"Totally unexpected," Tam said sarcastically. 

Sophie turned redder thanever before, and I walked over to her. "Um...Sophie?" I asked cautiously. Sophie waved me away. "I'm fine Keefe, it's just that, um... I don't know how to feel about you. That's all." 

"It's fine," I said, walking back to my seat, trying not to show how sad I was.
