TWENTY-TWO ━ THE INVITE

Gisele bit her lip as Mary, Nicole, and Sabrina sat across from her, looking at wedding things. The blue-haired girl looked down at the invite in her hands, the name Freddie Mercury stood out. In it, it had mentioned that he was to be the best man as he was one of Gisele's closest friends. She just hoped that for once, he would forget about the problems they had and he woukd accept to be Roger's best man.
"Are you going to send it?" She looked up, Mary and the girls looking at her and the invitation. She nodded, sighing.
"Of course I am," Gisele answered, placing the invite in an envelope that was placed in the scattered, empty envelopes. She was currently sending invites to people close to her and Roger. She was excited for everything. "He's was my best friend. But despite how much shit we're going through right now, I want to invite him. I want him by my side even though he doesn't want me to on his."
"Oh sweetheart," Mary started, rubbing the girl's shoulder. Gisele has been quite emotional lately and has been in a really sad mood now that she realized she might never fix the friendship bond in between her and Freddie. "Everything will get better. He'll come around."
"I have called him everyday," Gisele rubbed her forehead. "But, either I have to leave him a message or I have to listen to Paul and tell him to tell Freddie what I needed to tell him. But Freddie hasn't called. I had envisioned this thing where we would go on stage, I even told Mom this, and we're going to go down on history as one of the best moments in Rock history. But, with Freddie gone, I lost hope in my voice. He—he made me believe in myself. I miss him every day."
Gisele looked at them, her eyes sad. But despite wanting to cry, the girl yet again closed herself in. She didn't want to cry in front of the girls despite being close to them.
"I need food," Gisele sighed, standing up to get the food she had been craving now. "Darn it. I want a milkshake."
The girls all looked at each other before looking at the blue-haired girl who was looking in the refrigerator for a milkshake Roger had left for her.
"Gisele, you okay?" Nicole asked carefully. The girl hummed, smiling when she saw the chocolate milkshake hidden well behind all the leftover food.
"Yes."
"Alright."

Paul grabbed the invite the mailman gave him, the name Freddie Mercury on it catching his attention as he headed towards the living room. He teared off the envelope, noticing the lace covering the front. He opened it, taking out the invitation fully, the golden font and the blue roses scattered around making him roll his eyes.
"Pathetic," he mumbled, immediately turning around and hiding the invitation behind his back as Freddie sauntered in, an angry look on his while holding a newspaper in his hand.
"They didn't tell me," Freddie said, "they didn't even tell me that they were to be married."
Freddie threw the newspaper on the table, Paul knowing instantly what he was talking about. He saw the headline, "Bandmates Roger Taylor and Gisele Melendez are to be married?" In the bottom, a picture was displayed of Gisele wearing an engagement while holding hands with Roger, the both getting themselves pictured when they had went on a date.
"Everybody is going crazy, Freddie," Paul said, taking out the bottles of alcohol. "I was about to tell you. Anyways, the boys are coming later. They said they're bringing boys and girls over. So, you might want to get ready."
"Okay."
Freddie walked away, heading towards his room. He rethought everything. He rethought about the plan to get Gisele and Roger together. He then realized that he has basically been getting them together by not being there or it was due to him doing something that hurt Gisele.
"Oh how I have missed you darling."
♔
Gisele sat down, breathing out a sigh. She missed being on stage. She missed singing and stomping her feet to their songs. She missed the feeling of feeling alive and the adrenaline coursing through her body when she ran across the stage. She missed the pulsing energy when Freddie or herself would belt out something and the crowd followed. She missed it.
"Hey, darling," Roger kissed her head, snapping her out of her thoughts. Gisele smiled at her fiance, patting the spot next to her so Roger could sit there. He grinned, doing as he was told by the girl. He wrapped an arm around her and he looked down at the sheet of paper in which withheld words, the title Friends Can Be Friends peaking his curiosity. "What's that?"
"A song that I wrote," she brought it closer to their faces, placing her head on his shoulder. "It got me thinking a lot and maybe I should go visit Freddie and talk to him. Mary said she was going to go and talk to him due to him not calling back."
"Are you sure?" Roger asked, rubbing his thumb on her skin, holding her face in his hands. Gisele reached over, smoothing his eyebrows as to calm him down. She knew this calmed him down. She had remembered when Roger was stressed and he was furrowing hard. She felt the need to relax him so she rubbed his eyebrows with her thumb and he relaxed a bit.
"I'm sure."
"Here are the keys," Roger passed her the keys, his hands, cold and shaky due to the slight rain, causing chills to rise up her arms. Years of dating and he still had that effect on her. "Be careful, please. If Paul is there, you know what to do, right?"
"Punch him in the nose until his nose breaks. But if can't break it, you will have to do it."
"When I see him later on," Roger chuckled when he remembered this moment, "You're just going to have to root me on, though."
"I will."
"Be safe. Please. That's all I'm asking," Roger begged.
Gisele nodded, kissing him. "I will."
